  • how to prevent lactic acid through food.... 5 grams of L-Arginine (beans, peanuts, chicken, tuna, salmon, and eggs).for this amino acid you should consume 1 can of beans, or 2 cans of tuna, or 1 pound of chicken... these are the easiest to make and more common foods . and a significant level of L-Citrulline....( watermellon... roughly 1 pound of watermellon.) this will create an increase and more efficient flow of Nitric Oxcide thus helping your body from getting lactic acid

  • I'm copping it in my calfs so fucking bad atm :'(

  • pt 6 ...to me ...the onset of the lactic acid feelings in my legs did feel as though my muscles where beginning to break down ....and so for a whole day and still the following day my body has been in rest mode to allow the acid build up to b eliminated

  • pt 5. but i can vouch to the fact i have had zero / no lactic acid up untill this freek event in the past 14 years in which i have been following a vegan lifestyle

  • pt 4 . and so stupidly ...i ploughed on another 2 miles to the gardening job ....did 2 hours there ...trying to reset myself with the food i had brought along ..MORE stimulating foods such as salty peanut butter on white bread ...it was food ...so i funneled it down ontop of the acid forming foods from days previous ...anyway the next day ....i just had to sleep nearly all day while the body detoxed from all the acid build up

  • pt 3 ...so ...eventually...the sugar high wore off ....and the body was ready for a simple food such as porridge to keep me powered and finally reset my acid alkaline balance ...but i was about 2 miles from home headed with a friend to a gardening job ....and although my body had highly reduced energy and hugely craved a bowl of resetting porridge ..my friend tried to reasure me i would b ok with MORE white bread and bananas ...i was sick of even the thought of bananas now ...

  • pt 2 .. because of time ...the previous day i had to have quite a bit of white bread and agave syrup with soya margarine to try and replicate the ingredients of a banana sandwhich i had wanted ....the agave is good in small amounts ....but acts too much like sugar in large amounts ....and together with large amounts of acidifying white bread is not a very good combo

  • i had lactic acid for the first time in about 14 years a couple of days ago ...and i know it was from not having enough porridge in the tank .....lactic acid occures when the body has had too much refined breads and sugars ...then one does too much excercise and doesnt have that comforting bowl of steady energy wholegrain porridge

  • Will lactic acid buildup after treadmillin' make your legs look bigger?

  • i m a rock climber

n 1 sentence i will tell u how 2 get rid of lactic acid while exercising!

rest, rest and rest only removes lactic acid, up to 24 hours rest for complete removal, and 3-30 minutes rest while exercising if you rest more than 30 minutes you need to warm up again.

    bye

  • wow. you have one of the most boring voices i have ever heard.

  • If you google "Lactic Acid myths" you can find some information on it.

  • Actually lactic acid does not cause muscle soreness, fatigue, or the burning sensation. In fact, it's not even lactic acid that is produced, it's lactate, and it's used as a source of energy for your muscle.

  • So would doing a quick ab workout prior to an arm workout be a bad idea?

  • Dude you are the one who should know something MORE about Lactic Acid. It is produced in your muscles because of LACK OF OXIGEN not because your growth or flush.... or whatever gibberish youre talking about.

  • This is good infromation. He is correct in his point that you should not jog fifteen minutes before do bicep day. He just didnt spell it out for the ignorant. that you still want to do a light warm up to get your rotator cuffs lubed up. jus in example. For people who want help with recovery try bannanas for the potasium and L Glutamin,

  • @blackmarketfitness since the atp-pc energy system produces enegry for high intensity activities such as weightlifiting & running, is lactic acid produced from this energy system?

  • ge to thew point already and uhhh....

  • Benefits of warm up from NASM; " Increased heart rate; (increases cardiorespiratory system's capacity to perform work) (increases blood flow to active muscle tissue) (increases the oxygen exchange capacity).

Increased tissue temperature; (Increases rate of muscle contraction) (increases efficiency of opposing muscle contraction and relaxation) (increases metabolic rate) (increases soft tissue extensibility)

Increased psychological prep, for bouts of exercise; increases mental readiness."

  • Why do athletes warm up? Well, b/c your tendons & ligaments as well as myofascial tissues are cold and "stiff" and increase the potential for injury if not warmed up properly.I can say by experience, once these tissues are well warmed up,athletic ability takes on a higher level of performance.A well trained athlete should "briskly" warm up a good 30 min. before training--makes a world of diiference.

  • I do think that warming up prior to a particular exercise is the right thing to do; example, prior to bench press I do a set with just the olympic bar - 45 pounds, then move on to the actual workout of that part, but getting on the treadmill does not ''warm up" the parts I am concentrating on on any given day. Unless I am doing a leg workout. Even then I don't see being on the treadmill 30 minutes prior to a leg workout. I've been doing this a long time and don't find value in that.

  • i know a lot of people who are distance runners...they don't stretch before running.....they run....because that's what they're there to do: RUN! running on the treadmill for 30 min would be stupid for, say, a day of leg lifting...of course you may want to get some running in so as to get the heart pumping....

  • @hazor777 since the atp-pc energy system produces enegry for high intensity activities such as weightlifiting & running, is lactic acid produced from this energy system?

  • @WaYneD91 Lactic acid is almost always produced when the muscles are exerted beyond their normal everyday routine. That said, the more in "shape" a group of muscles/muscle are/is will determine how sore they are. Also, diet plays in to how much lactic acid is developed and deposited (i.e too much milk & you will notice increased soreness) ALWAYS drink plenty (approx. a gal. /day) of H2O-it will flush lactic acid out of system,as well as re-exercising that particular muscle/muscles..........

  • Very good points. But if your normal blood flow is enough then why do athletes warm up? Because you need to bring your cardiovascular system up, bring the heat up and depending on the workout, get your lactic buffering system going.
