  • They look pretty close, but to be honest I don't remember the ps2 looking that clear, let me get it and see. Ah screw it, I'll just gt the HD remastered games for ps3 or something. 3D my ass.....

  • Too bad you put opinion into it, making you seem biased.

  • @bleunt As to the guy who said this before, how exactly?

  • I don't see why they call this a "remake" when it's clearly more of a port with added content and updates as well as downgrades.

  • @LionofDawn play it yourself, people are always posting false comparisons. I've seen more ps3 get downgraded vs. 360, and a majority of the time the people are using hd cables for the 360 but not on the ps3 so that they can fake fame their favorite console. It's really sad for them. I play them all so it's obvious when someone doesn't use hd cables.

  • @Zectro15Tero Yeah i know it looks better than this but im talking about the gameplay for the most part and the cutscenes are all the same as before.

It's too similar to the original Snake Eater to be called a remake and nothing like that debut trailer which despite being just a tech demo, it still seemed more like a remake.

  • I think 3DS and PS2 are equal, 'cause in 3DS, a new Camouflage Technology makes it good while the PS2 version has greater grahics than the 3DS but it doesn't have the Camouflage Technology in it...so i guess they are both equal.

  • this guy screwd up the 3ds graphics and made ps2 graphics better

  • 3ds version is greater IMO the aiming and shooting is better. I can crouch walk not just run or crawl the 3d adds all the depth u would need and it's just damn fun to play it anywhere

  • The foliage is better in the PS2 version but I put that down to the considerably lower 3DS screen resolution more then anything.

  • The 3DS version looks superior it has better textures (clothing/facial definition). People forget how impressive this game was visually when it released on the PS2, now we have a visually more impressive version in a handheld just over 7 years later.

Handhelds are incredibly powerful now, the 3DS matches and even beats the Wii in some cases (Resident Evil Revelations) and the Vita already looks better then most launch 360 and PS3 releases, it can only get better.

  • 3ds just look the same but with lighter colours abit shit

  • He's right

    Ps2 is : more green

    3D is : more brown

  • This is what i notice,

    Ps2 is more green

    3ds is more brown

  • brings back memories of the good old mgs3 days :)

it will always be my favourite one

  • i say 3ds version have less mistakes than ps2 version

also 3ds have more interaction using touch screen and dont forget gyro sensor crossing a bridge

also we dont know a lot of the 3ds version cause the game inst in sale but what i now my pre order game of MGS 3D SN is coming this july

  • I played the MGS3D demo ( Downloaded it from Nintendo e-shop ) and it looks horrible and is completely spoilt by the 3DS's screen....

  • @almighty151986 you played using 3d? you played it using the pro circle pad? i did and it feels good, plus the 3d effect is pretty good in the demo ,this dont looks so bad(portable), plus the new options like giro sensor and a few other stuff are interesting

  • @brokenranger1 Not played it with the circle pad pro as I shouldn't have to fork out for an accessory to play a game that worked fine before. Played with 3D on and off, 3D off produces some form on introplated super sample anti-aliasing ( Resident Evil Revelations does as well ) so the game is less jaggie and smoother with 3D off but it jus doesn't help the tiny DS screen :(

  • @almighty151986 i got my circle pad from revelations, i didnt believed in it before but is not that big, ds screen is small and some ppl have problems with the 3d (my bro cant see well in 3d) but many of us are used to it now and feels pretty good, is not the best game on 3ds but is not that bad, lets hope that this is like sf643d a test to see how a new mgs could do in 3ds in the future (i saw yoshi in there?) still is a game not rocket science

  • the sad thing is, people can't see the 3D on youtube videos.. more or less

  • The grapichs on this are ASS when your actually playing it.. The Fps is around 10-20 when playing it on the 3ds and theres ZERO post proccesing of any kind. Controls are horrible and messed up and The game looks so pixelated that its hard to see the detail on snakes face when the camara is right next to it.. 3d Effect is lackluster and just lowers the fps even more. after seeing the tech demo i was hoping for more than this :/

  • The 3DS version doesn't need any depth of field effects. It's 3D, so your eyes do all the work.

  • The PS2 GPU uses vector units for effects while 3DS's GPU uses Open GL/Meastro-2G for effects.Recompiled vector unit code does not tranlate well to the Meastro-2G format of the 3DS, Likewise if Resident Evil:Revealtions was ported to PS2 it would run inferior as well cause Meastro-2G code not translating well to PS2's vector unit code in a vice versa fashion.

  • OK listen up. AND YOU CAN READ THE REVIEWS FOR YOURSELF. AT LEAST # OF THE BEST GAME WEBSITES WHO REVIEWED THE 3DS VERSION SAID THE 3DS ONE LOOKED A BIT BETTER THAN THE HD ONE. ITS NOT JUST A PORT WITH BETTER RESOLUTION. THE GRAPHICS ARE COMPLETELY MADE FROM THE GROUND UP FOR THE #DS. WHICH YOU SHOULD GET

  • Ps2

  • I think the depth is off on the 3DS version, due to the fact you get that depth when you play it in 3D. I can't confirm, as I have yet to play the demo that is coming out/just came out? From what I hear though, the 3D effect is amazing, and adds a lot to the visuals of the game.

  • they both have their good and bad things

  • 3ds

  • congratz nintendo your graphics have almost reached the level of the previous generation!

  • @thumbsdownish A first generation 3DS game, has better visuals/textures/physics of a late generation PS2 title, AND is rendered in 3D. For a HAND HELD, that's pretty impressive. Lets not forget it's more of an enhanced port, than a full remake. Compared to Resident Evil Revelations, this game is pretty far behind visually.

  • @garvensman very true

  • Actually playing the game/demo looks better than in the trailer. It looks less brown and more like the PS2 version. I only played the demo but it's pretty good.

  • PS2.

  • Tie

  • 3DS has better textures,but the PS2 looks smoother.

  • I like the 3DS one better, if only because the lighting is more realistic and has less of a golden tint. I know that the tint could add character to the game, but the fact that Konami altered the lighting to make it more realistic on the 3DS shows that it was their intent to give the game realistic lighting- in which case the 3DS wins.

The only thing I don't like about it is Para-Medic's lighting; she looks pretty two-dimensional in the 3DS version.

  • @sakuraban96 the reason it has the tint was to make it look like old film. the changes were done most likely because the tint made it difficult to see details on a smaller screen.

  • what's wrong with the womans colors in 0:13

  • You know, now that I think about it, the 3DS has 3D, so the depth of field would be greater...

    I mean, ya know...

  • I have to choose the 3DS version, just because it has sharper textures, slightly better FPS and the 3D effect. That REALLY adds to the immersion of the game.

  • oh i forgot you can cqc combo like on peacewalker

  • no there not the same 3ds is way better well i played the demo on my 3ds it has new gameplay like photo camo.you can crouch and walk at the same time, you cant do that on ps2, sneak up on them without them hearing you but its hard to see far off with the 3d on. but way better then ps2.

  • @2551987ezio their quite a few year difference between these the two games, its not the ps2's fault that they made a few bad choices in the way things work, in any case i would go for the 3DS but i still would play the ps2 anyday

  • Graphically Metal Gear Solid 3 stands up very well even among today's fare. From its design point of view, the tone and the strong character design. There's a moment early on when Snake spots a bee-hive above a guard and he lets out a wry smile, a moment that says a lot about his character, more so than all the hours of deathly seriousness from the identikit cardboard cutouts you have to endure through the likes of Skyrim. Not strictly graphical but good use of limited hardware. PS2/3DS? Both.

  • this is just sad. some things will never change. while sony always delivers the higher specs and a handheld (vita) comparable to their current next-gen (ps3) system, nintendo delivers something below their current gen (wii vs ds) system or slightly above (wii vs 3ds). but nintendo delivers more innovation at first, then sony (and ms) copy and paste but also improve on a good but lacking innovation. that said, i think the vita offers much more, than the 3ds could ever do, not only spec-wise.

  • Well 3DS since I don't have any Play Station

  • They both have parts that look slightly better then the other. I like the slightly blurred background of the ps2 one (it makes the trees look more real) but I would say the 3DS has the edge.

  • PS3 MGS HD COLLECTION FTW (Y)

  • Xbox 360 hd version is the best

  • Ps2 is the best! :D

  • personaly i actualy like the 3ds one better

  • ps2 is better because is a console

  • I'm going to get this game in all plataform's I can so I can enjoy all diferences. (excet to xbox version, i dont want this one.)

  • 3DS sucks!!

  • @MGSUltimateSnake the ps2 was not zoomed in, they were both full screen, I then divided the space equally between the 3ds and ps2. There is no difference between the two trailers in terms of my trailer. However, when it comes to technical/visual appeal, that's ofc up to individuals ^_^

  • @JonnyPxN damn it

  • @JonnyPxN

I would go with the hd collection..

  • @JonnyPxN I too agree with this. They are both playing at the same time and i can see the depth is off on 3ds. I would still much rather play this on ps2 or ps3 in hd.

  • 3DS WINS!

  • That's good handheld graphics! But still not as good as RE Revelations. 3DS can do much better graphics than for example Ubisoft thinks.

  • Good Video. The PS2 looks a bit better, but it's a home console, and I think the game will look better on the 3DS in 3D.

  • @T1Man11 have you seen the ps vita, thats a handheld too, the graphics are like the ps3.

so its better then ps2, we have new technology, the 3ds should own the ps2 but didn't, and the reason "its a handheld" stores any longer, the 3DS fails a little bit, BUT I THINK IT'S STILL A GOOD CONSOLE

  • @lolwarbertje Yes I have, but I mean the graphics is not the strong point of the 3DS. And so many people think it has just DS graphics, and that's wrong.

  • Good analysis and you remain unbias.

  • @DjNawo cheers

  • @KamieKeys You're clearly not english, but where I come from, "Cheers" is used as a synonym for "thanks".

  • @JonnyPxN haha, the "cheers" comment was pretty funny...in a stupid/ignorant way.

  • @gaminglaps but you have to remember the ds back then was like the gameboy advanced accept the graphics where a little more better because of the screen but yeah i kinda agree it is sad

  • you have to admit that the PS2 is a huge home gaming consol (well at least mine i don't have the slim one) and the 3DS is a small handheld so 3DS kinda wins :/

  • ps2 OWNS 3DS at least in this game.

  • hey, those graphics are incredible on the 3ds. Why would someone really compare graphics from a full console to a handheld?

  • After playing Resident evil revelations and seeing RECENT gameplay and screenshots of MGS3D I love 3DS graphics. It's got a charm of it's own that also shine on this game.

  • I wonder how people take a fair and harmless comparison and then blow it out of proportion, thinking it's an attack on the 3DS. Personally I think the 3DS version might have a small team and small budget for the port job and would've looked better if more resources were put into it, but its a port. Kojima has better and more important things to take care of...like Z.O.E. 3DS :D

  • @lordrath2000 It isn't a port it's a remake.

  • @JonnyPxN omg... so this video shows me that the ps2 from 8-9 years ago is better than a modern hand held such as the 3ds. thats sad. im glad i dont like nintendo.

  • @forgetthename16 PS2 wasn't a handheld. And... this isnt the full capability of 3DS... just take a look to RE: Revelations. There aren't charging times when you open doors as in RE 4. RE: Revelations is very very cool :D

  • Why do u compare trailers and not gameplay?

  • @NintendoDSin3D because it includes gameplay? Plus this was made over 8 months ago, when there wasn't any 3ds gameplay...

  • @JonnyPxN its quite sad that the 3ds barely beats technology that is so old.

  • @gaminglaps Emmm... 3ds is a handheld :S

  • PS2 the best

  • looks better on ps2

  • I am really impressed with the visuals for MGS3D. i didnt think they would even come close to what they are on the 3DS. Even though i already have the HD version for PS3, i might pick this up for my 3DS just to see how the 3D features work

  • 3ds better

  • To be honest the fact that the 3DS comes close and even some places beats the PS2 clearly demonstrates the calibre the hardware is reaching. While you clearly have a PS2 bias you have only managed to demonstrate how great the 3DS hardware is by comparing it to a more powerful system and it come off favourably.

  • @rcookman How do I "clearly have a ps2 bias" exactly?

  • @rcookman honestly the 3DS should be able to do more than just match the the PS2. We're talking 12 year old hardware here. Even the PSP came pretty close to matching PS2 graphics, and that's over half a decade old already.

  • What about a PC version of this game? =(

I'm sure it can't be that hard to port it...

(By the way if any1 knows any version of MGS3 for PC without emulator, please tell me)

  • @PaulorPT Nope there was never a MGS 3 for pc

  • XBOX sux, Sony and NintendoROX

  • MGS3 want to 3DS? When did this happen?

  • ps2

  • ps

  • Basically seems like they each are better in different areas. I already have this on the HD collection for PS3, so I will not be re-purchasing it again for 3DS.

  • i think the ps2 one looks better

  • people nowdays... u change the gamma of your tv and everyone will believe the game is HD.

    Meh...

  • ok, stop choosing which is better. I LIKE MGS3 IN ANY DISPLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the ps2 version has a lot of blur

  • wait so when all these gaystation fans think there better than xbox the 3ds kicks ps3's ass ?

  • @Deeplightning1 Ps2 stupid head.. we're talkin about ps2 here. not ps3. What a dickhead

  • @Deeplightning1 that comment made literally zero sense...

  • @JonnyPxN no listen the gay station is the playstation hints the name gay station and it does make sense the nintindo 3ds beat the playstation by a long shot there being beat by a little nintindo game

  • @Deeplightning1 lol wut?

Yes, the 3DS is capable of better graphics than the PlayStation 2, just as it is capable of better graphics than the original Xbox.

There is literally nothing in this video about the PS3. What are you actually trying to say?

  • @Deeplightning1 dude, it's not a ps3 they're comparing it with y'know.....

    it's comparing it with a ps2...

when it was released in 2004.....

it's now 2012..... think about it........

  • @Deeplightning1 Sorry to say but, both xbox 360 and PS3 over rule the nintento. Nintento is great and for but not better.

  • @Deeplightning1 That was PS2 retard!!!!

  • @Deeplightning1

    You jealous?

  • @Deeplightning1 if you pay attention it says ps2 not ps3

  • @Deeplightning1 omg ur such a dumb. 3 things u must learn first

    1) English

    2) PS still better then shitbox360

    3) Read

  • @artiplusrotti You know what else is dumb, your spelling ;)

  • @ryan16426 Ok so you don't get fast spelling at all :D, I don't know what it was when i posted that comment but I know that I don't remember anything at all. So please don't try to be the smart guy :@.

  • @Deeplightning1 PS2 GRAPHICS

    not ps3

    you idiot xD

  • @Deeplightning1 That's Playstation 2...

  • the 3DS kicks the PS2's ass

  • I prefer my trusty PS2 to some shitass 3DS

  • @SherryZProductions Exactly. And it has the better controls lmfao who's going to want to buy that uglyass circle pad pro? Nintendo still thinks we are in the N64 days where it's okay to buy tacky looking accessories. Nintendo is such a failure these days, it's a good thing I moved on from Mario from when I was a kid. Playstation is so much better...

  • @iamthebomb17 Good! Playstation is just so much better, so much more ergonomic and better controls. Better than buying something that looks familiarly like a plain rectangle with buttons on it.

  • I find the 3ds version has better textures and models but I kinda of like the lighting in the Ps2, i don't mean the bluriness it just looks darker.

  • PS2 looks way better.

  • @iamthebomb17 Are you smoking crack or just trolling?

The 3DS blows it away. Much better detail - just look at the clothing flapping in the wind.

    The sky is purple.

    Poop is white.

    Dogs say "meow".

It's easy to spout of absurdities, boy. But they don't mean shit.

Just as you have absolutely no say.

  • @samuelrosenbalm Lmfao who got your nintendrone panties in a bunch faggot? Stop exaggerating the 3DS. PS2 looks better. Less polygons are visible on the PS2, the PS2 has the better color not to mention it already has the better controls (who's going to want to buy a childish tacky looking accessory like the circle pad pro?) You must be an asshurt Peter Pan syndromed faggot who's too busy trying to instigate arguments on Youtube instead of trying to get laid. Lmfao what an idiot

  • @iamthebomb17 You are obviously jealous.

Sorry you don't have a 3DS. Maybe some day, you little maggot...

  • @samuelrosenbalm 3DS is for losers and posers.....

  • @SherryZProductions I have a 3DS, and I am neither.

I also have an excellent gaming rig (see my channel), and several consoles.

I know quality. I am having a blast Super Mario 3D Land, and can't wait for MGS 3DS.

No, I think you put a little too much stock in your own opinions. You see, you are a little piece of shit who has no say.

  • @samuelrosenbalm We'll see.... if really did have such a good gig, why are you waiting for MGS3 for 3DS. The MGS HD Collection for PS3/XBOX is already out (Actually came out three days ago). If you think that MGS3 on 3DS will look better on 3DS than PS3.... then there is no further reason to argue. You are officially retard then.....

  • @SherryZProductions I have the HD Collection for Xbox 360. I'm having a blast with Peace Walker HD right now.

I still have MGS 3DS reserved and am picking it up on the 21st. I can't wait.

I didn't say MGS3 looks better on 3DS than PS3 - I said it looks better on 3DS than the original PS2 version. And it does. Even Hideo Kojima himself said so.

The 3DS is a more powerful machine than the PS2. It has a better processor, better GPU, more memory - which is why it has so much more detail on 3DS.

  • @samuelrosenbalm Well..... control wise, I would, and I certainly bet you would prefer a controller to some piffly circle pad pro. I mean, talking about the frame rate stutter in PS2, the 3DS trailer was on non-3D mode. I'm pretty sure, the FPS won't be 60FPS on 3DS in 3D mode? Not that it was like that on PS2.

Anyway, why the hell are we having a bash against each other? We're MGS fans right? So we both rock, so I'm gonna ignore you're verbal abuses earlier on, and salute you!

  • @SherryZProductions You are actually a pretty decent guy, as opposed to what I had you figured for. If I had known this, I never would have made those earlier insults. Mistaken identity!

I do admit that if I could have the 3D as well, I would rather have the game on console, seeing as how the 3DS lacks a second analog (a very big design oversight that will cost Nintendo in the long run). I can also tell that the analog stick isn't as responsive as the PSP analog stick.

  • @SherryZProductions Just for shits and giggles, do you mind ranking your top 5 MGS? I will rank mine...

    5. Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions (I love going for gold in every mission)

    4. Metal Gear Solid: PW

    3. Metal Gear Solid 3

    2. Metal Gear Solid

    1. Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance

Don't have a PS3 to play MGS4 (I know, I suck as a MGS fan). I do plan to get it, although was has kept me is I would be buying a PS3 just for that game.

  • @samuelrosenbalm yea man mgs4 is brilliant.

  • @samuelrosenbalm My top 5:

    5. MGS1: Twin Snakes

    4. MGS Peace Walker

    3. MGS2: Substance

    2. MGS4

    1. MGS3: Subsistence

I bought the PS3 alone just because of Metal Gear Solid 4. So bloody worth it! Ijust CANNOT decide between MGS3 and MGS4. Obviously the better game is MGS4. So bloody good. Much better CQC, EPIC STORY WITH MINDBLOWING ENDING AFTER CREDITS etc. Hell, you go back to Shadow Moses in MGS4! IGN gave it 10/10, I think!

    Just MGS3 > MGS: PW > MGS1 > MGS2 in order first!

  • @samuelrosenbalm I mean play those games in that order..... Then play MGS4 to keep up with the story.

  • @SherryZProductions Thanks man.

Yeah, I am pretty well caught up with everything in the Metal Gear world up to MGS4. I would love to learn a little more about the lalilulelo and what becomes of Solid and other such things, and have been tempted to watch the cutscenes on youtube. I am holding out for a PS3 that hopefully I will get soon.

    Your list is fantastic. Thanks.

  • @samuelrosenbalm Do not watch any MGS4 videos on youtube. You will literally be killing the whole game. You cannot experience how epic the game is, until you play it yourself.

Thanks btw, your list it great too man! Just need to add MGS4 to that list! Trust man, get a PS3. You are missing out on too much! MGS4, Uncharted etc

  • @SherryZProductions I remember before MGS4 came out, I wanted a PS3 very, very badly. There was one game that I wanted like no other. Resistance: Fall of Man.

I finally did get Resistance, but on the PSP (Retribution). After that, my curiosity kind of died down, plus the online community is probably dead by now. I remember reading the back of the game case in the store, it sounded so epic. I do wonder if I missed out.

I here Uncharted is like Tomb Raider, only better. I could go for that.

  • @samuelrosenbalm Ok look, when you get a PS3 here is what you HAVE to get!

    - MGS4 (Obviously!)

    - Uncharted 2 (I played that first, never got UC3 yet) (You'll be mad to miss out on Uncharted!)

    - Resistance: Fall of Man! It's epic!

    - Oh, and I'm a Battlefield guy so BF3 :D

    - Into Racing? Gran Turismo

    - Maybe God of War 3?

  • @SherryZProductions Thanks for the list - you have succeeded in convincing me that a PS3 is a must. I am sure when I do finally get a PS3, I'm sure I will end up getting every one of those games you mentioned. It is easier to justify such a purchase when there are several games to justify a purchase, as opposed to just one.

On a side note, I have played God of War: Chains of Olympus and absolutely loved it.

  • Comment removed

  • @samuelrosenbalm Damn, look at all of that redundancy.

Easy to do when you don't get much sleep due to video games.

  • @samuelrosenbalm Great.... Get it soon hopefully. And then you can add me, we can have a blast playing Metal Gear Online on MGS4.

  • @SherryZProductions Sounds good man, thanks.

  • Amazing how far these hand-helds have come

  • in snake eater trailer for 3ds at the end of the trailer appears yoshi :D

  • @mraxu093 Because Nintendo can't do games without extreme self marketing, so when games made for other consoles gets ported to their consoles they MUST have their stuff in it unless they feel uneasiness.

  • Every single youtube video about the 3DS I watched so far has comments from PS vita fanboys saying 3DS bullshitter and so on. When will they learn? :S

  • i think im gonna gonna get the hd collection instead cuz i love the fuzzy color of the game that the 3ds doesnt have

  • Is this guy trolling on the 3DS? What is this review, it has very faulty logic, absurd terms, without any ground to hold them to. I gotta buy crack from you, it must be awesome to look at reality the way you do!

  • @Ryuuken24 Who are you talking to?

  • 3DS has a lower frame rate, less realistic lighting and fewer polygons. PS2 honestly looks like it has better textures, 3DS looks like it's some plastic like textures.

  • @ThatGamerboi The truth: the 3DS is capable of textures on par with some 360 games... and the framerate for this is game actually drops on ps2 sometimes... not 3ds... so even if you dont like 3ds which it sounds like... the 3ds is more powerful graphically... its gpu is 2007 unlike the ps2's

  • only fail is that it slightly and i mean slightly beats a ps2 game... while the vita can compete with them lower end 360 games..

  • @ThreeDaysOfDan Its a win how you pay 180 for a handheld that looks like a ps2 and does more, but a shame for a handheld that cost 300$ "more than a 360" and yet with a lil less capabilities? :( sad face

  • @ThreeDaysOfDan Being really all the vita has are higher resolution textures...the graphics are nowhere as close as the PS3 version.

  • 3DS!

  • @RamboSnake73 nope. it has been reported that the 3d for this game makes one feel like they been sucked into the jungle. HD? . . not much talent there

  • PS3 HD is the BEST !!! ;)

  • I don't think depth of field will be an issue, considering the stereoscopic 3d.

  • Psvita!!! 

  • thumbs up if u think theres no difference

  • @FUCKBALLZXTREME You gotta be stupid to not notice that...

  • V FAIL :P

  • if you think they both look better in their own way thumbs up this comment

  • The real issue is going to come down to eyestrain. If this is a direct port/revamp of MGS3 like the HD collection was, then this will be the inferior version. Depth of field is incredibly important for certain things like hitting the kerotan frogs in the motorcycle sequences, certain boss battles, & general use of the first person view.

3D is cool and all, but the small size of the screen will make playing for prolonged periods of time impractical.

  • I say the 3DS is better. The 3D effect will make up for the depth issues. Of course if you're not playing with the 3D on then they'll still be there.
