I have the Lightning Fighters board. The beginning of Stage 9 stops me cold. Never could figure out how to survive that section...? Anyway, best I could do was 725,710 Stage 8.
I love this game, the trick is t use only 1 powerup; if you take more than one, the big enemies & bosses become unfairly hard. I usually just get the first V I geet & play the whole game with just that (& that option type thing you get in stage 3)
LOL! Yeah, I had an immediate flash-back (& seisure) when u died after the 1st boss
I played this game when it was first out (he shows his age!) what I liked about it most was the sound, which was loud in my arcade.
Trying to get it to load on mame now ;)
Anyone remember the shoot em up that also scrolled sideways & went through these really narrow tunnels, & you had a special appendage to the ship to guide you through?
Sounds weird I know, but I played it lots and want it again!
Played the game a bit, the slow ship speed doesn't hurt as much as the homing center shot (!) from the first boss, or the busy background which tends to hide the small bullets from enemies.
This is far from Konami's first scaling game; I know Devastators from two years earlier has scaling.
you should try 2 player i used to play thaT game in my local arcade you get this really cool pod thing that connects the two ships and shoots a huge lazer between them
Yeah it's a shame about the ships slow speed, they should've thrown in at least an option to be able to speed up a bit like they did in their other shooters. Also amazingly to this day far as I know this is one Konami game that never got a home port, not even in Japan. With some of Konami's other arcade titles in the past few years seeing re-release in Japan on PS 2, this one was amazingly skipped over.

Ok. Maybe I'm stating the obvious, but the building at the beginning has the form of the Konami Logo.

Sorry for yet more spam XD
In Trigon, the Vulcan weapon is pretty useless; only the S shot seems to do enough damage to be worthwhile.

X ray-den
O ra-i den
Nice demonstration though!

Yes you're right, I used to call it 'ray-den' as a kid, and still have the habit. As you said it should actually be 'rhy-den'. ;-)

Nice reviews, I wish we could see a little clearer, but good vids anyway. Hope to see a lot more reviews in the future!

I personally prefer Trigon to LF due to the extra weapons, but either version looks to be find enough to own.

Yeah, I'd love to get my hands on a Trigon PCB, or convert this one.
One thing I didn't mention is how slow the ship feels, takes some getting used to.
