@neonguy528 You have to buy a mono to stereo converter plug for $3 at Radio Shack. The microphone outputs mono and the converter splits it into stereo as it goes into the camera.
@ClevelandNightClub Could be interference. Are there any radio towers nearby? I found that mine had that problem when I tried to do some videotaping just a mile or so away from some TV towers. I would also check your connections and make sure they are tight.
Thanks for the great review. It is really helpful since I am trying to find an affordable system for when I film (non-professionally) a relative's wedding. I was especially glad that you turned around away from the camera when you were far away, because I have heard people say that it would make a difference. I didn't notice any. I would have loved to see you go behind a car, bushes, etc to see how it would have done with other things in the way, but I am impressed with the distance. Thanks!
Thank You for your video demo of the the Azden, because of your demo we purchased this mic a few days ago and did an audio test and... GREAT! I am working on a low budget and was looking for a good inexpensive wireless mic. ONCE AGAN THANKS!
Nice! I've had one of these rigs for a few years with good results. Comes with a Lav and Hand Held Mic so "interviews" are easy enough. I've recommended this to several others and will just send them this link in the future. The WMS-Pro is so much more affordable than other systems, its a great purchase.
I bought this mic for my Canon HF200 and the quality of the sound is good but it does not fit the smaller sized Canon hot shoe. The mount for this is standard size and Canon uses a proprietary mini hot shoe. So before you buy it make sure it can fit your camera.
i do not have this camera but somewhere on your camera it should have an ouptup that says 'mic', 'audio export'. something like that. thats where you plug it in. like i said i dont't have that camera but i know it is good. it should have the export on a camera like that
Yeah, the camera got an mic output. But what I mean is if it can be attached to a special Canon hot shoe which provides me from holding the receiver in the hand. And apparently it did fit the shoe. :)
I've ordered this mic now. Does it work well to pickup a conversation between two people?
Thanks for the great information on this product... I've been searching for reviews on the net, but there's nothing better than actually listening to how this thing records. Thanks again.
Hi Chris, a simple but VERY effective test. Gotta love independent film makers that do better tests for a product than the actual companies selling them. You did a great job. Well done, and I appreciate you doing this.
When you buy a mic like that, van you plug it into a computer and use it for that instead of plugging it into a camcorder (I am of course referring to a wired type)
Chris great test. I'm looking at this product to film a friends wedding.
Question: It comes with a Shoe Mount, is that standard on all cameras or do different manufacturers use different types of shoe mounts? (I have a sony TRV-950 and Sony DCR-HC96)
Canon has the Advanced Accessory shoe on top of the HV-30. You don't use the digital connections on the AAS since the mic plugs into a port on the side of the camera rather than connecting through the shoe.
Thanks Chris, looked into it more and realised that it just mounts on the camera shoe and doesn't use the connections. You plug it into your mic in port. I've ordered one from Amazon, looking forward to using it. Cheers
Pretty neat rewiew. i'm interested in this kit from Azden though i've got a Panasonic 3CCD NV-GS70 with no manual control over MIC IN level.. and i'm afraid it will spoil all the good this AZDEN kit has to offer.. what do you think?
I don't know about your case, but my system has worked just fine. The audio is mono split to stereo, but that's just fine for my purposes (which is baseball hitting and pitching DVDs). All I need is for people to be able to hear what I have to say, and the system works just fine for that.
I'm still a newbie, so I went with the default audio settings which seemed to work fine. Also the camera is a Canon HV-30 (the newer model than the HV-20) shooting in HD.
Now I am aplanning to purchase this mic as I am planning to do a short film. Question? Can I connect two mics in two different channels of the receiver..?
I'm actually curious about this too. I'm planning on doing wedding videography and I'll need mic up the bride and groom for their vows. I'm wondering if you just need one receiver and just set both mics to the same channel or does more have to be done.
Im sold! Do you know if this will plug into a ZOOM H2 recorder?

How many to use at a wedding? I've heard up to four, for the bride, groom, minister and musicians/soloists. Any advice would be helpful.

My wms pro mic only records in mono, on the right speaker only. Am I an idiot? How is your sound coming out of both speakers?

Does it still work even though it doesn't fit into the hot shoe?
Leonidt1985 1 year ago
@Leonidt1985 Yes it still works. This mic doesn't has a cold shoe, meaning it's just a piece of plastic to hold the mic to the camera.
