  • who designed your album cover tim, ffs

  • Oh, I’ve just conducted a scientific experiment which was supposed to make hydrogen gas from water without the help of electrolysis, but it proved the existence of God instead. I know, I’m just as surprised as God was when he ended up in my test tube. Any who, want to come over, just to verify, I mean I don’t know how long I can keep God in the tube, because I’m claiming the leg only, keep your piano and wife. THANK YOU TIM, YOU ARE BRILLIANT!

  • Excellent!

  • [PL] świetne !

  • Awesome post. I've just learned of Tim about a week ago, and he is an instant favorite.

  • JOSHU2UBER NOBODY LIKES YOU

  • lol, who are you talking to? I've looked at all *124* comments and there's nobody by that name... not even "Josh" or "2uber"

  • It's just a funny, good song, bible-thumping H-O-M-O.

  • ITS A SONG YOU HOMO!

  • homo.

  • YOU.ARE.HOMO

  • homo

  • The other video of this song is a much better version.

  • lol that songs great

  • You must be fun at parties.

  • NOO YOU GTFO

  • You really don't understand science do you? Rhetorical question actually.

Stop reading Derida - he's crap.

  • Actually, there are a set of 'reasonable experimental conditions' that scientists use to do experiments etc. It's not based on opinion at all, but factual conditions.

  • AND MY AXE

  • *gasp* Dude, put down the axe.

  • welcome back from /b/

  • Thanx SGU for letting me find Tim Minchin. He's great!

  • Yea, I found out about Tim through the SGU as well, I'm blown away by his music, it's really the best music i have heard in a long time.

  • Yeah, me too. SGU you're da bomb. For the uninitiated, that's Skeptics Guide to the Universe.

  • Amazing!

    i Love Tim Minchin!

Anyone else got here from Skeptics Guide to the Universe? :)

  • Comment removed

  • Hes a really good singer. try Halijula its great cept theres this bird who ruins it :/

  • geraldine quinn? i thought she was good...

  • She is, but they're so drunk they can't keep in tune, so they screw up whenever they try to sing together.

  • And she just flat-out killed the song with all her melody-changingness.

  • @RFsAngel you know thats a GUY RIGHT?

  • FUCKING EXCELLENT!!!!! :D

  • Oh my god.

    He's amaze (:

  • That takes some serious skill stringing out all of those words.

  • You should hear "A Ten Foot C*ck and a Few Hundred Virgins". He sings so fast and with such long sentences.

  • this guy is a legend

  • Gold, where have you been recently? You havnt logged onto MSN in forever. :(

  • This is hilarious - and I am NOT a Tim Minchin fan!

  • u r now lol

  • it's a clever song

  • that is sooo funny one of his best if cha ask me heheh :D

  • he my friend's brother! been to his house! yaay for me...

  • :o not fair!!!haha.

  • GENIUS!!!

my whole profile on myspace is pretty much dedicated to Minchin.

    and he deserves it.

  • Tim is my idol. I wish I could meet him.

  • I have. He's really nice!!

  • Man, this is just the greatest song ever. Man. He totally rules.

  • i like this lol...funny

  • I was reading through that, thinking you may have actually picked up something about not forcing religions, but half way through there you said "information about the truth."

    Good game.

  • I do salute your unwavering faith, however, perhaps you should allow me to keep my agnostic outlook on things without being told your way is the truth. I dont know if it is, I dont know if it isnt. There's two ways I'm gonna prove either way; A: I die, and if I turn up in heaven or hell, you win. B: We build a massive telescope that's powerful enough to see the centre of the universe. If we see a big dude running around making things, you win.

  • Why would you ever salute faith? It is nothing more than belief without evidence or reason. Faith encourages non-thinking and a follow the leader mentality. It's true that we can never prove the absence of God, but we can't exactly prove the absence of Zeus either can we? If I die and see a god, my first question will be "which one are you?"

  • Honestly, because I wanted to end on a good note, because arguing with people that honestly believe that they are right about something completely unprovable pisses me off. Saying something negative would've provoked an argument, which will just cause me to want to punch a baby.

  • Faith can be more than belief without evidence or reason: often, it's belief in spite of contrary evidence or reason.

  • Isn't that the definition of insanity?

  • Definition of insanity/delusion.

But since Christians are the majority, apparently there IS sanity in numbers.

  • Definition of insanity/delusion.

But since Christians are a majority, there IS apparently sanity in numbers.

  • love what he says about homeopathy. I've always been skeptical about that logic. Infinitesimal amounts of a compound in a solution of relatively huge amounts of water is supposed to do exactly what? Act like a vaccine on the body? Promote the body to take action immediately to heal?

It's not founded in Science. The fact that the Queen of England and her family believe in it, does not impress me. They believe in a concept called "royal blood" for godsake. yeah, THAT's Scientific.

  • To be honest, I think the Royal Family still believe they've been appointed by God to do whatever they do (which isn't a lot anymore).

  • yeah, all based on a concept of blood that is somehow different than the blood of the rest of the species of homo sapiens. Superior blood. Blue blood. Nevermind that aforementioned blood bleeds as "red".

It is a form of mass insanity that the British public who support these clowns actually believe that these freeloaders are actually "superior" people and deserve the bowing and scraping and ass kissing that goes on.

  • *British* I don't support them but what exactly would we have without them? Britian is cultureless - especially since more people from the rest of the world are coming here they seem to believe that we're pushing are non-existant culture onto them. Which isn't true.

  • Oh I believe the Brits could certainly cook up a valuable cultural replacement for these inflated, insulated, obscenely rich and untalented "royals".

Your comedy TV programs ROCK, to name one example. Quite a few of your rock bands have been absolutely brilliant, not to mention your theatre; Shakespeare etc. etc.

Not to worry about your culture, should the crowned heads suddenly evaporate. I've got faith in you regular joes.

  • I forgot all about those (the TV shows, not Shakespeare). Most of the TV shows her at actually from America, along with the silly WB Hollywood films. I wish the Cult Classics were more famous: they deserve it.

  • Well that was interesting. It went from "Those Royal freeloaders! They dont deserve ass-kissing! Blue blood, even though blood runs red!" to "Oh shit! Uuuuuumm... the British are great, especially your comedy!"

  • Well... Our comedy is really us taking the micky out of those Royal freeloaders (has just stayed up till two watching the uncut version of Mock the Week - haha!).

  • You logged off MSN. :(

<3 Faulty Towers, Monty Python, etc.

  • I'm just talking about those ones that force their religion down people's throats, not so much the peaceful "This is my way, I like it, your way is your way."

Atheists and theists can both be as bad as eachother, I'm glad some of both sides arent bent on converting the world to their particular belief.

  • i dont want his wife or leg but havin a piano would be good lol but im not smart anuff to prove any of that (some of it i dident evan undastnd)

  • I don't think anybody could prove it. I can't imagine Tim Minchin without a piano...

  • yea to tru haha lol

  • Some of that I didnt even understand. That is, your comment, rather than the song.

Effectively he challenges anyone to prove all of the virtually unprovable, controversial topics based on anything non-human.

Effectively you, I, and anyone else in this universe have a 1 in 15 billion chance to get his piano, his leg and his wife. :P

  • We'rent we just complaining about people that force their religion? /sigh. The only way we'll ever prove God's existance true or false is when someone creates a telescope powerful enough to see the centre of the universe. Until then, quit your bickering.

  • I think the only way we'll find out is when we die - but then we won't be able to tell anybody. I'll die and laugh at whoever was wrong - that's not good....

  • I'm slightly more interested in how you plan on laughing if there is no Heaven or Hell. O.o

  • What if there's something else? Can I laugh then?

  • Knock yourself out. I'll join you. :P

  • Short but sweet.

  • Is the dvd good?

  • Shame on you, Gold. Considering trying to convince people Tim isnt fuckin' awesome for a piano and a DVD (I dont even want to know what you're going to do with the leg)?

  • There are many things I could do with his leg... I would most likely sell it on eBay, somebody out there might want it.

  • wtf? 8 hours ago I was awake, yet you werent on MSN or anything. Way to go. :(

  • Were you? I feel guilty for doing my work now... We need to make a system.

  • I agree.

  • Aaah! Someones MSN died! (Just replying to get your attention. >.>)

  • But it is alive again! ... Zombie msn...

  • Replying again to get your attention. Log onto MSN! :D

  • I have... I've got too much work... *cries*

  • I love the piano music in this...

    Must find sheet music D=

  • no need, it's just an interrupted cadence over and over again. for instance, you could play C major, G major, A minor and it'd sound similar to this.

  • Thanks. =D

  • RE is Religious Education. In Senior that becomes SAS subject called Religion and Ethics or an OP-eligible subject called Study Of Religion.

  • now in Queensland to be politicaly correct(sorry my spellings bad) it is CRE cristion religious education (in public skewls that is)

  • Yeah I go to a Catholic school- in Senior it's called RE not CRE because we don't just study Christianity, we study all religions.

  • This song is legendary :)

My RE lecturer kicked my out of class for admitting I was an atheist...

  • What's RE? Also where are you from, as that sounds a little backwards?

Tim Minchin Rules! Esp his Donnie Darko song.

  • Religious education. I do go to a Church of England college, if only because all the other colleges in the town are, in a word, crap. North East England, by the way.

    I love that song :)

  • Don't forget about the Peace Anthem.

  • That's a bit stupid. Even though I don't do RE for a topic, meaning I won't get a qualification in it, we still have to have a lesson in it. But really it's just about morals, capital punishment, et cetera... (We don't even talk about religion)

  • I know what you mean. My school says it's welcoming of all religions- yet they assume we're all Catholic, make us do prayers every, made religion as mandatory even in senior, have a 3 hour mass every term etc... It's ridiculous. My religion teacher is a conservative old hag who actually asked a girl what she was doing at our school if she wasn't Catholic. I have no problem with religious people, but it's when they believe everything they're told and push their beliefs on me that I get annoyed.

  • Your school is strict! I don't understand why we do church at all, our Head Mistress is Jewish.

  • I go to a Catholic school and can't understand why people would spend their entire life preparing for the next life and simply forget that they're living in this one.

  • My school says it's open on religion, but really it's not. We have to do prayers everyday, once a year we have to do a Christmas song thing, and once a year we have to go to church. I'm basically atheist and I'm not too bothered by all of this (I'm leaving soon -yes!- and I generally don't care), I just feel sorry for all the people who are other religions. It must be kind of insulting.

  • I don't want to argue with people who have a faith in God because it is a good thing (I suppose) and I respect that.

  • I dont want to argue with people that have faith in God because they're the most closed-minded people you will ever meet, second only to some extremely stupid atheists.

Being agnostic is great, it's like being Swiss.

  • PML muglez "Being agnostic is great,It's like being Swiss"

  • What, exactly, is "PML"?

On the off chance it's some form of "Please explain", the Swiss rarely ever take sides in wars, so being agnostic is rather the same.

  • PML = Pissing myself laughing.

  • True. But it's the whole idea of a poweful, perfect god. I just don't like that idea.

  • hahahahahahahahahahahaha.

  • I (l) Tim. So true.

    Religion is hate and fear.

  • ahh fuck. that's just reminded me, my HPE report on homeopathy is due soon.

  • I finish school in a week. Random, but hey.

  • Finish?! Oh, you're from Australia. You must have different holidays than us.

  • we do indeed.

  • Yeah xD But I'm finishing school for good! I'm so dang happy!

  • Yay for Aussie holidays! We get 2 weeks every 10 weeks, then 8 weeks over christmas. So we only spend 40 of 52 weeks at school. Not bad. :P

  • Christmas holidays: two weeks. Exams the day back... This Christmas is not looking at all merry or bright.

  • Sucked in! /comfort.

  • It's seriously embarrassing that so many people are still stuck on religion. I don't see why we can't all just appreciate what we see and know instead of having to make up these mystical fantasies that couldn't possibly be true just to make things better.

It's like religious people have no broad perspective. It's so egotistical to think that people are so important that you live past your time. People are gullible... I came to this conclusion myself with no persuasion. Tim you're awesome!

  • I'm not religious at all, but I'm quite jealous of people who are because they have a faith and believe in something. That's something I can never do, I question everything too deeply (which is kind of a good thing)

  • i question things too deeply too but i have faith, mainly because i found a great magazine called creation, it really helped, it has a lot of evidence that god does exist.

  • I'm more of a 'if there's proof I'll believe it' but that's not faith.

  • but there is proof that god does exist. but i will let you find out on your own, unless u want me to tell you. im more of the girl who says if you want to beliave then believe but if you dont then thats your choice. i get really annoyed at people who try to say everything they say is right, i no some of them myself.

  • I don't think that everything I say is right, because if it was life would be so much more simplier.

What kind of proof? But I suppose if there was any real proof that would spoil the question: "Does God exist?" I think that will never be solved.

  • i dont think it will ever br solved either, but one thing i do hope that there will always be faith. not just in god, but also in our friends and family. to know that they are going to do the right thing in a bad situation, never turning your backs on friends and trusting your inner most secrets, i beliave that is faith. but thats my opionin.

  • Naturally I have faith in my friends and family.

  • I agree with your

  • Give me proof that god exists or better yet that Nickleback doesn't suck

  • depends who you believe jesus christ was.. and if you choose to believe all the historical evidence of his life on earth :) nevertheless tim minchin is hilarious regardless of his religious viewpoints :D

  • The first is easier to prove than the second.

  • i will give you my piano... one of my legs... and my wife

  • well put tim :)

and if anyone can show me one example in the entire history of the world of a single spiritual or religious person who's be able to show either impirically or logically the existance of a higher power without any conciousness or interest in the human race or ability to punish humans for their moral choices, or that there is any reason other than fear to believe in any version of an afterlife

  • yay he's smart... im found a new fave comic

  • lovely.

i love the way he says piano. he could have finished it there.

  • But he didnt, and it was totally worth it.

  • LMAO! That is all I have to say.

  • Interestingly (or possibly not) the title of this song seems to be taken from a quote by Richard Dawkins:

"There's this thing called being so open-minded your brains drop out."

  • was it dawkins? i think maybe he was quoting too.

  • Hi Tim. I always thought it was him but yeah that's more than likely. Really like the song - I sent the link to James Randi to let him know you're offering an alternative to his million dollar prize - it might lighten his day. Looking forward to seeing you in Sheffield. Don.

  • oh no!!! a title of a song that is a reasonable parody of a popular phrase means that this whole song is not tim's original work?! OMG!

    srsly get over it

  • That wasn't what I meant at all. I pointed out the quote as I thought somebody might be interested. Now I have no idea why anybody would be!

  • funny as always

  • lol, yea,his wife... lol

  • Excelently put.........

  • I love this song, Tim makes his point so brilliantly!

  • its beyond brilliant
