Bob Nystrom's biggest career moment came on a goal on the 1980 finals that should've been disallowed. OFFSIDE. I'm not even a Flyers fan and I remember that...
@nduchene1 You obviously don't remember too well. Perhaps you might want to get your facts straight before you make a bigger fool of yourself. I'm amazed at how sure idiots are of things that just aren't so. amazing!
@gggturcott for sure, one of the best clutch players ever. scored 4 sudden death ot winners second only to rocket richard. always good for 20 goals a year broke 30 twice and runner up for the calder in rookie season. a rediculoulsy underrated player and fighting machine. check out his fight tribute here on yt
Yep--"Brother Nystrom lands a mean right...now Brother Williams counters with a nasty uppercut of his own". LOVE this old stuff. Sacred and holy it is. The game now is several steps below this stuff. It will never be the same. :(
Well look under "Stan Smyl", and you will see the "Champion" Islander's Bob Nystrom getting a special treatment from the Steamer right after Stan threw an awesome and clean bodycheck in game 1 of the finals near the end of period 3 where the Canucks were winning! And being the great champions that they are,Nystrom flipped out and got decked again!! Fate was the only thing that prevented us from the Cup!!!And Tiger was working his butt off in the game and play-offs also, and King Richard!
Typical Tiger death grip match.

@nduchene1
Right game, wrong player. It was Duane Sutter's goal that should have been called offside. Nystrom scored the game winner in OT.

Nystrom and Bridgeman were pound for pound the best in the NHL.

Man, Nystrom had to have been the most underrated fighter. He could really scrap, but luckily, he was a pretty good player too!

GREAT FIGHT...........OR NOT

Williams was a no talent punk. If I'm not mistaken he won four fewer cups than Nystrom and scored four fewer OT playoff game winning goals.

tigger had a great 'stick ride" after he scored all 12 of those career goals!

Tagger was a cheap shot goon; most of the goals he scored were accidental.

God yes, those were the days. A bygone era. I would do anything for today's game to be even half as good as the game was back then...

Totally agree!
Hockey and baseball need to go back to the organ!
Is that Stan Fischler commentating?
Sounds like him.

Organs are way better than headache inducing blaring music.
Yes that's Stan Fishler, and I'm confident that is George Michael doing alongside him.

Tiger was over-rated as a fighter,I seen Guy Lapointe beat him in Toronto.

don't kid yourself, Lapointe was a pretty good fighter. rarely lost a fight.

Sure we'lllet you break his nose and knock his teeth out but you touch his hair and you're out of the game.

For sure Nystrom was one of the best. I have seen dozens of his fights--he didn't lose many. He could throw from both sides, too.
