  • Sweet setup - definately an inspiration to me. After reading about your build on nicoclub.com I really wander how much difference extrude honing/coating the exhaust manifold and turbocharger housing made. Our builds are very similar; however, those two attributes are the main difference. I would love to hit 400whp with the 2871r, but I don't think it will be attainable without those pieces of the puzzle. Did you dyno the car before having this done? If so, what did it make?

  • @400whp240sx thank you, its nice to hear i built something that inspires, makes me want to keep it instead of selling it. no i didnt dyno before, the car was stock sr20 with exhuast and front mount, figure it made around 240 to 250 on 14 psi. i have a gt3076 i am thinking of putting on it, but i might throw that onto the cummins i am getting. kinda trying to get into the diesel scene

  • @400whp240sx I know it's been months but Just wanted to put how much mine made. Stock bottom end S13 BlackTop Sr20det, Toda 264 Cams, HKS 740cc Injectors, Z32 MAF, S15 GT28RS turbo 15 PSI, Tial EW and Apex HG it made 301 at 17psi on 93 octane. But since I moved to New Mexico I had it tuned for 91octane and it made 267WHP and 256TQ. I want to get a GT2871r to make more power.

    I remember at one point we BOTH began our builds at the same time. Want to hear the bad part? I'm still dealing with stock problems and last I read you are stroked. Good call man, love the car for sure.

  • @CRyan881 lol not stroked but bored over. i delt with a machine shop for eight months but now i am finally ready to have it assembled i am just in alaska tell sept now.

  • yo badboarder boy try heat wrapping your exhaust manifold or ceramic coating worked on my rex when i threw unequal length headers on

  • my next manifold will be ceramic coated black. to go with my new under hood theme

  • hey bro im on nicoclub too..i have a couple of Q's im going to do your exact same setup up.first when i had a megan manifold my car ran like shit after a hour or so of drive someone told me the EGT's get to high with a tubular manifold..and are you on stock springs and retainers with those cams?

  • no i have stock retainers but BC springs.

    i never notice my EGT being to high. and the whole point of a tubular manifold is to is it gets rid of heat easier then a cast manifold.

  • i normally run 10 psi but i have had it up to 24 when i dynoed.

  • 4th gear with km/h dash when its in the dark its roughly 200km/h teh cut off for stock sr but with ur set up id say closer to 230 if not more

    3800 is not late when you have a equal length tubular manifold. so i have a little delayed spool up but mor top end on a mid range turbo its a sick set up that i enjoy. i am using 264 cams. which are great with the turbo.

    but seriously, i hit full boost at 4500rpms with a .86 a/r gt2871r on my sr. to top it off, i have 272/272 cams.

  • it was hitting at 4200 but i had 9 boost leaks now i have zero and am hoping for full boost around 3800-3900. and hopefully more torque. using the avcr thought i cant get it to hit 16 psi in 1st gear its sick

  • gt2871r .64 turbo. yeah i have an enthalpy tuned ecu. but i just got it retuned so i expect my power to stay the same but hit sooner.

  • yes stock bottem end. there is more done then i have space here to say. but it is finally painted. i did get it dynoed once. making 416 rwhp and 350 lb tq. its a crazy little car.

  • 416rwhp @ how many psi? I'm going with this setup too but with S3 or 4 (dunno yet) and MAYBE an AEM EMS.

  • How much boost you runnin in the vid? Should be spinning first gear like mads unless you have fat tires, or you were just pedaling it.

    My car with 650cc, hks 264 step 2, t28, 15 psi spins 1st and sometimes 2nd.

  • The motors sounding sweet dude. How laggy do you find the .64? i run the .86 and it doesn't hit full boost till 4200

  • for some reason its seems kinda laggy. in 1st and 2nd but my tubular manifold might be affecting it. and i think i need to adjust my boost controller. i am going take it out again today for some more runs to see if i can get it spooling fast. but when it kicks in is pulls liek crazy now.

  • i had the avc-r set for 14 psi. but i havent gon through and really set it up for real so it was more like 10 psi and spiking to 14. cause i got it set to 15 for reall the other day and it pulled alot harder then you see here.
