A knife defense like they show here isn't going to work you should NEVER block a knife its stupid, if you block it, the opponent can easily pull away cutting whatever limb you blocked with, and no one uses a knife like they show in the video the big downwards swing...
I don't know what you know, but all of my experience has taught me that there is no way to predict what people will do. I've seen people use knives in literally the stupidest way imaginable. besides, a truly skilled knife wielder will probably cut (though it depends on the type of knife), not stab you. I've seen people pick up a knife and stab it with that big overhead motion.
I think these guys are pretty kool however I found plenty of mistakes in their system.
For example when they touched on being attacked by a knife by saying the only way to defend against it is to block and attack simultaneously they attacked the WRONG place.
They should have attacked the Adams apple while blocking the knife attack.
The eyes, throat, and genitals will always be the weakest links.

Not really. I doubt it. The idea of mixing martial arts was picked up but the martial arts themselves, that's another story. You might be able to say that Lichtenfeld himself had some influence but ironically there were others that contributed just as much in Kav Maga. Lichtenfeld thought them some techniques but what is today Krav maga is different then what Lichtenfeld created. That Bill Miller dude might have had some influence but the way the 2 styles evolved differently.

@grattondefender Krav Maga is great. I started taking lessons. I still need some more time in order to tell to myself that Im good at it, but It doesnt take you years in oder to master it as in other kind of martial arts. This Hybrid system really improved my reflexes.
Krav maga is just like most other martial arts it usually works on someone who knows nothing. Just like that guy said out of most of the systems int the world only about one percent works in a real situation. That being said i still stand by that MMA is the best way to fight and defend yourselfs. None of these krav maga fancy tricks would work on anyone in the cage. There is a reason U.S. Special Forces is trained in Krav Maga. It is the ultimate in self-defense. I learned a few moves from the videos and last month I was attacked by some men as I was walking home and I managed to disarm the men and keep them at bay until the police could arrive. Krav Maga works.
@zaco21 I train Krav Maga because it is adapted forms of various martial arts. There is a lot of Jeet Kune Do in Krav Maga as well as pretty much every other form of martial art for that matter.
@Kroush7 The US Special Forces aren't trained in Krav Maga. They have their own hand to hand combat system, you can be sure about that. It is the ultimate self defense as much as the other martial arts. I remember I got a guy in a lock once without training. There are other martial arts that are just as good.

In fact they might have used Marine Corps Martial Arts Program as a base. That's is the more probable scenario! It is not Krav Maga. The only thing that it has in common with Krav Maga is that it's a style that combines techniques from different martial arts. Also the martial arts used in the 2 fighting styles are very different.

They are showing them mostly the civilian form save for in the fifth video where they are showing more death blows. And though they do not partake in ground grapple they do grapple standing up. MCSlap is basically Krav Maga as well. According to my recruiter Bill Miller who invented MCMAP was a student of Imi Lichtenfeld which is why they are so similar. He just built off of Lichtenfeld's design.
@Kroush7 Krav Maga was a combination Lichtenfeld's know how (including wrestling and boxing) and Judo and Jiu-Jiutsu back then. These techniques were passed on indirectly through the old Kapap style. Bill Miller might have had some wrestling and punching and kicking techniques learned from Lichtenfeld but back then Licht himself wasn't much of the judoka or Jiu-Jiutsu practitioner. MCMAP isn't a version of Krav Maga, the techniques might have some common roots but they evolved differently.

The Combatives program relies more on grappling, although it does have some hand or punching and kicking techniques. The US Army Combatives Program and Krav Maga are different styles. The only connection between them is the fact that they have Judo and Jiu-Jiutsu techniques in them!

That demonstration half way through is obviously just that, a demonstration with previously selected knife thrusts and whatnot. Why not let the guys with the plastic knives go freestyle? That's because he'd probably get tagged in vital areas and it would make his MA not look so effective.
Wing Chun is more about always attacking your opponent's center, isn't it? If anything, it's more about just striking, striking and more striking. Of course, you can argue that there are blocking involve, but when I think of blocking, I think of it as passive, just defending yourself and that's it.

Krav Maga is NOT a contact sport. Sure Mauy Tai, Ju Jitsu are all great but those systems are use, more so, for contact sport purposes. Krav Maga, on the other hand, is about survival. It taught me how to protect, disarm, and injure an attacker with the fastest, deadliest strikes, while defending myself with the least of energy, movement, & life saving decision making. When you are being threatened with a gun or knife, Krav Maga makes most sense in defense. Just do the research. It works 4 me.

Not really. I doubt it. The idea of mixing martial arts was picked up but the martial arts themselves, that's another story. You might be able to say that Lichtenfeld himself had some influence but ironically there were others that contributed just as much in Kav Maga. Lichtenfeld thought them some techniques but what is today Krav maga is different then what Lichtenfeld created. That Bill Miller dude might have had some influence but the way the 2 styles evolved differently.

I've seen shit practitioners and good practitioners from all arts. I've seen Muay Thai Boxers who could kick you so hard you'd bounce off a wall 15 feet away , acheiving unpowered human flight. I've seen muay Thai Boxers so ludicrously rubbish they were laughable. Same for all arts.

I think that the guy should learn more respect for the martial arts that contributed to the creation of Krav Maga. I prefer Jeet Kune Do anyway. I think that blocking and attacking at the same time appeared as an influence of Bruce Lee's JKD. It's known that the Karate techniques were introduced in Krav Maga later.

Krav maga is just like most other martial arts it usually works on someone who knows nothing. Just like that guy said out of most of the systems int the world only about one percent works in a real situation. That being said i still stand by that MMA is the best way to fight and defend yourselfs. None of these krav maga fancy tricks would work on anyone in the cage. There is a reason U.S. Special Forces is trained in Krav Maga. It is the ultimate in self-defense. I learned a few moves from the videos and last month I was attacked by some men as I was walking home and I managed to disarm the men and keep them at bay until the police could arrive. Krav Maga works.

@zaco21 I train Krav Maga because it is adapted forms of various martial arts. There is a lot of Jeet Kune Do in Krav Maga as well as pretty much every other form of martial art for that matter.

@Kroush7 The US Special Forces aren't trained in Krav Maga. They have their own hand to hand combat system, you can be sure about that. It is the ultimate self defense as much as the other martial arts. I remember I got a guy in a lock once without training. There are other martial arts that are just as good.

Of course mixing Krav Maga with Combatives might make sense since Krav Maga focuses on striking techniques but I really wonder if it wasn't developed independently from Krav Maga (like the Marine Corp Martial Arts Program) from similar or even the same martial arts. If that is the case it's not Krav Maga (fighting program developed independently).

In fact they might have used Marine Corps Martial Arts Program as a base. That's is the more probable scenario! It is not Krav Maga. The only thing that it has in common with Krav Maga is that it's a style that combines techniques from different martial arts. Also the martial arts used in the 2 fighting styles are very different.

@zaco21 Hmmmm.....false sir. This video only displays a small amount of what Krav Maga is. They are showing them mostly the civilian form save for in the fifth video where they are showing more death blows. And though they do not partake in ground grapple they do grapple standing up. MCSlap is basically Krav Maga as well. According to my recruiter Bill Miller who invented MCMAP was a student of Imi Lichtenfeld which is why they are so similar. He just built off of Lichtenfeld's design.

@Kroush7 Krav Maga was a combination Lichtenfeld's know how (including wrestling and boxing) and Judo and Jiu-Jiutsu back then. These techniques were passed on indirectly through the old Kapap style. Bill Miller might have had some wrestling and punching and kicking techniques learned from Lichtenfeld but back then Licht himself wasn't much of the judoka or Jiu-Jiutsu practitioner. MCMAP isn't a version of Krav Maga, the techniques might have some common roots but they evolved differently.

The Army Combatives program focuses on taking the fight to the ground and the guy was in the Army and studied the Combatives system. The systems are fundamentally different and so's LINE (the 1st universal system adopted by the Army and Marines) and MCMAP, these systems have been developed from scratch! The KM ancestry's more myth than fact.

@Kroush7 Grappling puts you in a disadvantage if you have multiple opponents and can also force you to fight to on the ground so Krav Maga tells you to keep your distance. The Combatives program relies more on grappling, although it does have some hand or punching and kicking techniques. The US Army Combatives Program and Krav Maga are different styles. The only connection between them is the fact that they have Judo and Jiu-Jiutsu techniques in them!

Wing Chun is more about always attacking your opponent's center, isn't it? If anything, it's more about just striking, striking and more striking. Of course, you can argue that there are blocking involve, but when I think of blocking, I think of it as passive, just defending yourself and that's it.

Krav Maga is NOT a contact sport. Sure Mauy Tai, Ju Jitsu are all great but those systems are use, more so, for contact sport purposes. Krav Maga, on the other hand, is about survival. It taught me how to protect, disarm, and injure an attacker with the fastest, deadliest strikes, while defending myself with the least of energy, movement, & life saving decision making. When you are being threatened with a gun or knife, Krav Maga makes most sense in defense. Just do the research. It works 4 me.
