I love how every DJ is unique and don't understand how people can be judges.

People aren't used PVD's new style.

He plays similar tracks that flow really well in a mix but then he suddenly drops a new beat that doesn't fit the previous tracks. It's for a shock effect. It changes the mood of the crowd and creates a sudden change in awareness to the music. It was very weird at first, but I get it now. He did a nice job of mixing big trance with house(IE. SMACK-WTF- CRUSH).

PVD playes his classics at every show.

He's been around since the early 90s. Has years of major hits that people expect him to play. SO he remixes them or reproduces them live. I saw him four times in the last 5 months. Every time the set had a different feel. Sometimes it was POP-ish, sometimes it was dark, sometime very intense. Each one was different. SO many of you rookie ravers simply do not know how to appreciate his different styles. Get seasoned in the rave world, then be a judge.

Been to a few small events, they're fun as well. Actually the smaller ones seem funner, Lovefest Afterparty 08 was spectacular, though I don't consider that small I still consider it a massive. I've been to a few clubs with DJ's playing. Completely different atmosphere, but still fun. Didn't enjoy Tiesto too much at a club event though. Maybe its just my opinion, but hey opinions are opinions no wrong or right to them.

I reccomend seeing PVD at a smaller, less crowded event. You need to have room to sink into the music. There are a lot of rookies out there who only go to the massives. Go check out a smaller show with local DJs. They are just as fun.

Not trying to be negative sorry. To me its just opinions and everyone is entitled to them. I'm all for fun ever since my first event at MM07, I've been to a massive nearly every 2 or 3 months. Half the time I'm there to give back the love with lightshows or just trying to get to know people and enjoy the music.

Unfortunately, it wasn't fun when PvD closed at EDC08 =(. Again just my opinion. I wish it was though, I'm all for good music and the crowd going nuts.

I might agree that he has played better sets. I went to San Fran to see him a week later and he played a set that topped EDC08's.

But what he does is so much different than any other DJ. So much of his set is produced live, not just off of a CD. There is a reason Tiesto, AVB, and PVD are all at the top of every DJ list. They do not suck at all.

The promoters only get a permit until a certain time. If the DJ plays anything after that, they get a heavy fine or have future permits pulled. You might say that they are already pushing limits.

I am 27. I work in entertainment at very popular tv network. I have been to many shows in my life, but Monster Massive 2008 was my first rave. I never listened to electronica except for "Sandstorm" before last Saturday night. My opinion on MM2008: It was on of the greatest nights in my entire life. I don't know enough trance to rate the music or DJ's, but they did blow me away. I agree with the adjective that it was "Orgasmic." AMAZING! TAO here I come.

Honestly, the middle of his set was amazing, but the end was a complete trainwreck. I'm sure it sounded AMAZING if this was one of your first raves, but it was really garbage noise.

eh i agree with you about how he always plays For an Angel, but Markus Schulz does the same thing with "DayDream". I thought this rave was well put together overall.

Judge Jules gave me more than i expected, but I also agree PVD ended his set so horribly. The P.A. announcer gave the crowd the impression he was going to play an encore if the crowd got loud enough, and PVD waved it off. lol sad that it ended like that, but overall, it was a great night.

Yeah, I agree w/Markus' Daydream, he played that at POP earlier this year too, wtf. It's kind of a buzzkill to hear songs played at previous events one, or even two years ago. Including 2008, For an Angel has been played by PVD for the past three years.. lol.
