  • akita dogs living in a desert climate seems harsh enough for them!

  • I am not surprised. EVERY rescue organization wants an arm, leg and a second mortgage to adopt. Well, screw you. Thanks for nothing. I bought a puppy rather than being jerked off by another "rescue". The Palmdale people should be jailed. BTW, thanks for helping to control animal overpopulation, crooked rescue organizations.

  • @grantwood3915 like in saw?

  • most of those dogs are american akitas and some are japanese akitas. FUCK THOSE PEOPLE THAT ABUSE AND THAT KILL DOGS!

  • Akita is great, special, gifted dog. all you have to do is let them be, and press easy training. I say that because I own a black wolf/german mix, almost the same - they love the owner, will kill for the house, and do not listen - very independent and love kids and people outside the house ( not in it ), thus please make Akita a pick, not must have. Black wolf, Akita, Husky are all wolfs not pets

  • peop;e should do more research first before buying a pet.

  • I still miss my Akita, Barrington that died a year ago. Fuck people that abuse dogs!

  • @aqinthe

  • The people who did this needs to be strung up and beaten. No animal deserves this kind of treatment.

  • @cstormcaller1

People can't even treat others of the human race right, so how much more an animal?

    Sad

  • é por isto e outras coisas que eu digo: o ser "humano" é uma praga!

  • I'm not surprised at how often it happens, people really need to do more research before they obtain a pet. Akitas are quite different from other dogs, they are japanese, not american, their temperament is pretty different. They are beautiful dogs and very loyal, as shown by Hachiko in the late twenties to mid thirties.

  • Akitas can be tough dogs to handle, but they can be wonderful dogs as well. They're basically a one family dog and often pretty territorial. Its sad because I think the people that abandon these dogs keep forgetting that these are hard dogs to train, they should have given them more faith. Its sad because its almost like America's phobia of pitbuls or something.

  • When I'm 17-18 yrs old I´m so going to buy an akita, so far I had a dachshund, now I have a jack russell.

  • Congratulations for ur time to helping this 56 dogs and show how a powerful dog is having bad type of treatment and being betrayed by the people, they become the saddest dogs.

God bless u all,... and the dogs!!!

  • it doesnt matter their breed if u get an animal u got to love him, keep him and care for him , i hate ppl that get puppies and then when they grow up they let them go.

How can ppl do that is just disgusting

  • akitas are some of the most wonderful dogs ever created.i love this breed.

  • now this shows what kind of fucked up people are out there a dog is like a child in a way you think it wont care if you just leave it, people have to quit buying akitas when they have a pitbull mentality

  • 1:55 broke my heart..an akita with a sad face...

  • 0:49

    cujo

  • agreed, how can people abandon these dogs, they are amazing, sure there alot of work but its really rewarding, our families akita is turning 5 soon and has been an excellent dog

  • I hope the new movie, "Hachi" doesn't increase the numbers of people buying Akita's then getting rid of them when bored.

  • Unfortunately, it most certainly will.

  • @gbh903 i bought an akita because of that movie, and its been a year after we got her and yes, we still have her

    god bless hachiko

  • It disappoints me to see how mankind can do such a thing to such an amazing creature. I used to own an Akita named Fletcher, and believe me, he was the best dog I could ever have; a guardian angel.

  • An Akita is a powerful, stubborn and sometimes aggressive breed. They are not for everyone so please do some research before you adopt one. if you have the time, energy and will to train and socialise your dog you will have the best friend you will ever know. Peace.

  • I have and akita inu, he is very intelligent, sometimes i think that the only thing he cant do is to speak. He is friendly with my cat and very patient with my autistic child...

Sometimes i get annoyed with him, because he hides my shoes ^_^

This video breaks my heart :'(

  • I took one in from shelter 6 years ago. Best friend I could ever have!

  • This video is horrible -but vital to show how such a magnificent animal can be disrespected. I have a 4yr old male akita --who doesn't sleep outside and who is walked at least 1hr 2x a day of course with bathroom breaks as extra. I love my boy --he is smart, dependable, and very much a member of our family. Akitas are powerful, beautiful, intelligent beings who deserve a tremendous amount of love, attention , caring and respect. I wouldn't trade my boy for any other breed type. Akitas !!!

    .

  • Akitas are awesome. I have known some Akita's to be 'one person' dogs but that didn't make them agressive or anything. They tolorated other people petting them and had a calm disposition the entire time.

  • omg...i have an akita and she is a puppy right now but when she seems to see people she's not familiar with she gets overprotective of me when i'm walking her outside

  • I had an Akita before and she had cancer so we had to put her down. Her spine was out of shape too, I miss her dearly.

  • o Geez I want an akita so bad but the puppies are to expensive..:(

  • rescue one....

you will be an angel in my eyes and in many peoples eyes.

  • I'm in Europe they are in USA :(

  • it doesnt matter check ur local dog rescue centre you could make the biggest difference to a dog's life and its people who rescue animals who are the real good people of society

  • i have a gorgeous akita , she is everything to me, i love her dearly ,such a shame that people cant see the love and affection we get from animals

  • This Just Make's me so sad.

I had 2 different Akitas in the last 20 yr's.

My Akita Never slept outside unless we were Camping he was in our tent. He Traveled great in the Moterhome.

Unfortunatly the Breeder was breeding Bad Line's He had sebaceous Adinitis and a Hyper thryroid and went blind four yrs later.

He was a good Sport and took his Meds with no objection's.

He was 11 when we had to have him put down.

They need to be in the house with their People so they can protect the Family

  • It is easy to make a video to show any point you want to make. I am not defending the final situation but I do know some of the people involved and they ALL love dogs.

I personally adopted two dogs from here a few years before the seizure.

This was a tragic thing that happened, but please don't be too quick to hate the people involved.

All the dogs at this shelter found homes and none were destroyed.

  • two were destroyed and several others died during rehab.

  • ok you say these people love dogs why then are these akitas suffering from mange and why are they so underweight why are they tied with little room to move? these people are monsters, WHY?

  • you say they were all loved why did they not feed them, why were they in squalour, why did they have mange? if u want to defend these 'people' then do it properly give facts please

  • I have an akita [Tsunami], she is 9 years old and is the best dog I've ever owned. Akitas are strong, loyal, calm dogs.. They are not easy but if they are loved they will love you back like no other dog..

  • okay it seems that some like to take it personally. I do understand that some like to pay top dollar for a pure breed. If you could give me a valid explanation of why instead of going to a rescue and getting a dog I will shut up and "get back into my pram" as you call it. And how am I talking rubbish. I am saying it is people like you that pay TOP dollar for the pure breed dogs that condone these breeders to do what they do.

  • I can't stand people that find the need to get pure breed dogs. Honestly all those morons that "need" an akita or any other type. Then later realized that the dog is gonna get hella big and can't take care of them. Those are the people that promote these kinds of F*&^ING morons to start businesses such as this. GO TO YOUR SHELTER

  • mitan why bother post anything about pedigrees or any type of dog for that matter as you`re talking rubbish some people like us do pay a lot of money to acquire a certain breed and temperament we prefer but you see unknown to the likes of you we know what we are looking for whereas you have already stated you are just a mongrel- don`t know who you are or where you`re from and you`re not bothered so either go find someone else to badger or GET BACK IN YOUR PRAM

  • i really want an akita more than anytihng! and these horrible people are just throwing them away

  • im pretty sure all dogs are like what you described akitas to be but, yeah good work.

  • i av an akita shes 10 weeks old shes a star n watchin this vid as made me sick tht some people out there can do horrid things to em

  • WOW, that one at 1:35 looks JUST like my Akita/Alaskan Husky. The coloring is a little different, but the build, headshape, and tail carriage at rest are exactly the same. My other dog is a Jack Russell, and they are both amazing. The Jack trained the Huskita, and they are very protective of eachother, and the whole family at large. Any punks who abuse the trusting nature of a pet should be curb stomped, and fed to a pack of Alaskan Greys.

  • I have a pure Akita who is almost 2 years old. They are such beautiful, deep souled creatures and very devoted to their owners. This was a tragedy and charges should have been filed against the people who mistreated them so. So many dogs were destroyed.

  • I have an Akita/Sheppard mix and she is the sweetest girl and she is so smart I could never hurt her, people that treat animals this way she have the favore returned to them 100 fold.

  • It's no only with akitas it happens with all the breeds. People buy a puppy and after they just get tired of the dog. Patetic "owners"

  • Akitas are tough, smart, aggressive dogs who need good masters. They are center of the family, not background dogs. Best dog I ever had was an Akita, and that's saying something, 'cause I've had some good dogs over the years. I can't think of a Hell that comes close to being sufficient for anyone who would do this to Akitas. But I'd sure like to have the chance to send the dog-abusing vermin there myself.

  • Us human beings abuse our position at the top of the food chain. Good work.

  • Sean, great video .. wish people would wake up and realize it is not the breed but the owners.. these poor babies have had the worst of times.. and there are so many more too sad.. Mades me cry to think of them all..

  • the one at 1:37 looks like a shepard mix

  • nvm i read the description, its in palmdale, but i swear to god thats and exact clone of mah big bear, i nearly cried when i saw it, i had to put him down last year.

  • Whats up with the music? I have an akita and he's REALLY spoiled.

  • I have one myself although he has progresive retinal desease like most pure breed akitas. he has been the best and most loyal dog i have ever owned. I would loved to adopt and rescure another akita as they are the most loyal and trustworthy dog for my family. We love our shadow and wouldnt give anything else in this world for him sweet old blind shadow.( but he can still for some reason see the squirels and rabbits lol.)

  • aw poor doggies :( i am planning on getting myself an akita, well... once i move out :P

  • man it made me cry my akitas are another 2 of my children some ppl make me sick and they should b treated like this

  • S swear on my mum's life if i ever see any1 walk past me with an akita in that state i will murder them on them spot. i, with me being what most people would call the scum the scum of the earth can honestly say the one thing i say about my boy kado is he has better morals than me i love him to bits and would kill and give up my life for him. no shit best dog in the worlrdeven if not the hardest

  • i used to have a akita named lisun, he was a good dog, protacts our family we all loved him so much. but he passed away becaused he was old. he passed away at 15 years old. i'm trying to find another akita, do u no where's a good place to get one. it's so hard to find a good looking one.

  • God bless those who help Akita's. I adopted a female 5 years ago and she's the best thing that happen to me!!! We are best friends forever.

  • dude fuck those owners, and god bless the people who work to save them

  • who ever did this to theese akitas should be hung by there balls! i have an akita her name is sadie and i love her

  • akita's are greatdogs, how can anyone do that to these poor pups, i had 2 a male and female, they had 12 awsome puppies, i want to get more of them

  • any chance you might wanna give away one or two of those pups?

  • sorry, all gone, by the way, they had the puppies about 6 years ago.......

  • ahhh...:) thanks anyway.

  • i have an akita

    she has 5 months

    she always bite me ¬¬

    but..

    thats dogs

    cant be stay like that

    thats too bad

    in Corea they eat them

    c u

  • ive got 2 , with a 3rd on the way . Japanese Akita - The king of dogs ! Wish i could have just 2 minutes with who is responsible for this .

  • i've got my second akita, the first one, Shadow Warrior of Mordor, we got as a puppy and he lived to be 9. He had a thyroid problem, which he eventually died from and actually grew to more the size of a mastiff. My second akita, Keeka, we got from a rescue shelter, she's the most gentle dog i've ever known.

  • akitas are the best dogs !

  • they can bring down bears and can lift up someones spirit. i agree, they are the best dogs

  • I love Akita's too, but it's all relative. My two English Mastiff's are the best in my book. To be honest, I want to have a huge farm with Akitas, Mastiffs, Bulldogs, St. Bernards and other big sweet dogs to play with, kinda like Cesar Milan's "Pack"

  • i had an Akita for 7 years. he had to be put down to really bad case of bone cancer. he had a huge lump on his chest. *holds picturebook of doggy* his name was bear. i will be getting another when i have a chance. and it will be purebred. :)

  • This really breakes my heart seeing it ! We have a 8 months old Akita named Nikia and she's my baby . We visit dogschool and go for long walks . Growing up in a family with four children (two grown up), five cats , rabbits ... every single day is a new adventure for her. How can some people be so cruel ?Nikita is the best what happend to me in the last 7 months!!!!! I love her .....Greetings from Belgium

  • aww, i have an akita called starsky, & they ae verry powerful, loyal & intellgent, i love them so much =D

  • yooo mayyynn i have 2 fully grown akitas n had 5 pups yhh n i luv em 2 bitss yhh n if i wuz 1 off dem rescue ppl i wud of hunted dwn the ppl hu held em 56 akitas n i wud of put a collar round dere necks n put em in a cage wiff little food n water ........ to show dem how much it must hurt a dog 2 go through dat it aint ryte n id leave em in dere untill they were literally dead lyke they did wiff them akitas

  • These people should be shot. I have two Akita mixes and they were rescued from an irresponsible Akita breeder. She took the pups away at 5 weeks because she wanted to breed the mother again! Someone stepped in and took them to find them homes. We got them at 5 1/2 weeks old.. The vet knew they were Akita/Shepard mix and they would be large dogs. We began doing the work necessary to raise two socially responsible dogs. As should EVERY dog owner! Do some research before getting a puppy.

  • Anyone who knowingly & willingly abandons an animal, be it a dog, cat, bird , WHATEVER, unless overwhelmingly justifiable, should be held to accountable...NO EXCEPTIONS...Anyone who owns an AKITA, and my wife & I are the proud owners of a 2 year old female " Matty " know the it requires dedication & commitment...EXERCISE - DISCIPLINE - LOVE...this is the credo that we follow...

Some people...YIKES !!! What drives them to such cruelty...SAD day to be a human being...!!!

  • do you know the name of this rescue in palmdale, ca?? i met some ppl at a dog walk that said they had a rescue in palmdale... i was wondering if it was the same one...

  • I do not know the name of the rescue, but it has been closed down by authorities. I will not name the woman who was running it here because as far as i know, the case is still pending and she has not been convicted of anything.

  • Aww .

My dog was an akita inu ...

he was the best dog you could ever emagine !

but those owners that owns a akita should be ware of the powerful dog .. it needs a lot of walks and enough food .. if you dont walk your akita it gets sad and maybe agressive to .. do you want that?

This video was great ! i hope peaople learn frome this movie !

  • Some very sad pictures there and I hope those dogs find good homes soon.

A landlady of a local pub, just down the road from me had a lovely looking Akita.

Then she moved and had the dog put down. People really need to think before buying an animal as a pet.

  • man,

i have a beautiful akita boy and this would never happen to him, i love him more than anything and would take him everywhere with me, these peole are cruel and should be castrated!!!

  • man screw the person who did this to akitas, i wish someone could tie him up to a rope and leave him there for months.

  • These kinds of people should have to register as unfit to own animals. This way they can not be aloud to ever do this again. I would also recommend you show what these beautiful powerful and loyal animals really look like.

  • oh my :( Akitas are my favorite. What kind of sick person would do this ?

  • I have a baby boy. We live in Arizona, we went to my parent's cabin up north, my son Peter was playing near some bushes and a rattle snake started rattling, before I could do anything, my Akita, whose name is Krieger, jumped on it and bit it in half. I grabbed my son, and we went inside. He guards my son as if he was his own. I love these dogs. I couldn't stand watching this. May the people that did this burn in hell.

  • i have an akita myself and this broke my heart. My akita is so loving and sweet and i just dont understand how people can do this to any living animal

  • I love every breed of dog on this Planet...and the Akitas especially, do not deserve this kind of treatment. I really hope everything goes well for them...I'm interested in taking in an Akita...but my parents keep on saying that one dog is enough, even though one of ours just passed away recently...I still miss her a lot...♥

  • I would love 5 minutes alone with anyone who's ever deliberately abused, neglected, or abandoned an animal because of ignorance, laziness, entertainment value etc. You have to be morally and ethically bankrupt to inflict this kind of devastation on animals. I had akitas growing up- they're one of the best breeds you can own. Some people's actions are so fucked up.. I don't even have the words.

  • you have my support, let me know if there is some way I can help

  • I woukd like to thank everyone who has viewed this video and taken the time to comment on it or at least feel some compassion for these dogs. For those of you interested in the final outcome, you can read about it here ( akitarescuewny dot com //you will need to type in that URL because Youtube doesn't allow URL comments)and see a few pics of some of the dogs in the video after they were given some much needed TLC....

  • I grew up with an Akita.

    She was amazing.

She would do anything to keep me and my family safe.

Growing up I really thought she was my sister.

People need to stop being so selfish,

grow the fuck up, and take responability for the awesome animal they have promised to care for.

  • this vid,, is painful,.. fucking,,, assholes

  • Very poignant; very sad. I hope those responsible are punished but that wont change what these dogs have been through.

  • akitas rock sox. this vid is depressing.

  • ii Love Akitas! ii H8 To See Them Abused. They Are Really Beautiful Creatures! ii Have 4 Akitas && They Are My World! iid Kill Anyone Huu Did This To My Dogs! Please Help To Make This Abuse Stop!!

  • Thats fucked up man , ide kill to look after a couple of them !! Bastards

  • Sad video. I don't have one, but I do have 2 rotties. Our neighbor had an akita and he was a beautiful sweet dog. Hopefully someday the abuse of these dogs will stop.

  • You break my heart. It is so hard to believe anyone would harm these beatuful creature. Ours was dumped in the woods, left to starve. He was flea and tick ridden and only a skeletin when he was saved. He is a wonderful rescue with so much love and personality! He's our second one. The breed is everything you say and then some...

  • so fucking SAD!!!!!!

  • As the owner of two Akitas,I found this video to be very distressing.Too many people get dogs based purely on looks or as a kind of status symbol often without knowing the first thing about the breed or having no dog ownership experience whatever.

I pray to God that these poor animals have been able to live out the remainder of their lives in good, loving homes.

  • sad,but good vid.music kinda doesnt match though.4 stars.:)

  • this sucks...i want an akita so badly, so to see them treated like this makes it even harder not to have one that i can care for.

  • People who do this to Akita's or any dogs for that matter need stringing up. You can not find a more loving companion than a dog who would do anything just to please you. Hope these rescued dogs got the homes they deserved after this.

  • Please don't let this breed be demonized into a killing machine.

  • I love Akitas. Intelligent, strong and loyal.

Like pit bulls, they deserve none of the bad treatment they get.

  • We adopted one of the Palmdale 56. Her nane is "Aiko" She was the 2nd Akita after the "Couragous" banner. After our first Akita died of old age we thought it would be good to adopt. Her litter mate was "Micah" who was rescued also. He died of hart failure March 07. RIP. Check out Tiki Hut Akita rescure or Pawsnclaws for more info. Myspace Aiko

  • I'm very sorry to hear about Micah, but good on you for helping one of these akitas.

  • i love akitas!!!! that has jst made me feel really sad

  • I have 2 Akitas mother and daughter, they had a very hard life before I got them, had been used as money making breeding machines and pasted on the the next person and so on, took a lot of time to get them to trust me and thier fur was in a pess but has been a year now and are living a life of riley.

  • beautiful animals....they have feelings too. How come some people think of them as animals for destruction...I hate watching this!

  • This video brought tears to my eyes as well as hiting home this tragedy, this and the comments made, gave me a better understanding of Max my German shepherd/akita cross,he is 16 months old and we took him in after the owner died. He's amazing & has maintained many of the Akitas fantastic qualitys.

  • american akitas r rated very highly as gaurd dogs.

  • I have an Akita and I love her....

  • Man, I LOVE Akitas, but the reason I don't have one is because I have a Pomeranien and my friend had an Akita and a Pomeranien but she left them together one time, and the Akita tore the Pom-pom apart.

  • Hello, is the Akita a good watch/guard dog? Im thinking of buying one soon.

  • they are excellent

  • i can't watch anymore of this *cries* i have an akita, i've had 2(counting the one i have now) she is a very good dog. i'm gonna be an akita breeder when i get older, i'll resque them from here poor things look abused *cries again*

  • it gts me so mad when people do idiotic things lke this, ever since i got my dog its made me a dog lover

my dogs an american bull dog and hes got all those qualities. tttttttuh how wud u like to be one yrs old when u die for growing up and needing mr time, love and attention

  • What people can a!! makes u wounder if there is a god. But hey one good thing people ar wiseing up to the fact these animals need help. [YOUR HELP] even if not re,homeing one just a couple of pound a week to a rescue center would do sooooooooooooooo much.

  • person sees puppy.. person buys puppy.. person doesnt realise puppy grows and needs care and attention.. person abandons puppy.. arent people great... I knew a girl who bought an alsatian.. she was put down at 1 year because she grew... wtf!

  • Whats an Alsatian???

  • Thats so sad :( , it made me cry :( i own an akita, hes very annoying but i really love him, hes part of the family

  • Fuck man, some of them are even puppies!

  • damn that sux, i dont see how people could treat akitas like that, or any other dog

    they are my favorite breed

  • exactly!! akitas arent for just anyone!!! they are alpha and it takes a special parent to own one!!! if you are thinking of getting an akita please please please make sure you know what you are getting into!!! do research! they are an inside dog that loves to be around the family. they dont need much space just alot of attention and a strong hearted owner that will love it to the end!!!

  • Um, actually they do need space....they need a nice big backyard to run around in. ;)

  • actually they dont.. they just need to be takin for a walk and to the dog park a couple times a week. they are indoor dogs. too much running around isnt good for an akita. look it up.

  • what happened to the person/people who did that. they should put them in a room full of those akitas with bacon tied to their body

  • this almost made me cry. T.T i have an akita too and watching this made me sick. i can't even imagine my dog (kimmy :D) being treated like this. i love my dog!

  • i've had 7 dogs throughout my life and my 2 akitas have been by far the best! very smart, well behaved, and extremely loving and fun to be around! this video is sad

  • It makes one extrmely angry to view this kind of inhumane treatment to one of the supreme dog races on the planet. There should be a law against this. I will look into donating money to an Akita rescue operation.

  • (crying)...I have 1 akita( Sugar is 5 years) and i love her!!!

  • An Akita would be a difficult dog to train, as a first time dog owner. I had a female named Kira, and yes, she was a handful. However, I did take her (and me) to a dog trainer, so that we would both understand productive training practices. After the initial deeper level of training was completed, she proved to be one of the best companions that I have ever had. The Akita breed has a depth of charactor that I have not seen in other breeds, and I have had dogs for most of my life.

  • WOW...this put tears in my eyes....it's such a shame that people like this actually exist.

I have 2 Akitas (Teddy is 5 years, and Misia is 4 months) they are my life and joy!!!! thanks for reminding all of us how precious they really are!!!

  • UPDATE!!

So far all 56 Akitas have survived this ordeal and are making tremendous progress, several have been adopted out already and others are in temporary foster homes getting re-aclimated to life with people. thank you to everyone who viewed this video and thought about these dogs for even a few minutes.

  • IF I HAD POWERS I WOULD KILL THEM ALL ( bad people ) AND SAVE ALL THE DOGS AND GET THEM CARE AND FIND THEM GOOD HOMES. I WISH I WAS RICH TOO THEN I CAN GET ANY HELP AND ETC ASAP. I CANT WAIT TO HELP OUT AND SAVE DOGS. *tear*

  • While I appreciate your passion, the best way to combat animal abuse is by educating yourself and passing on what you learn to as many people as possible, especially children that way when they grow up they will be less likely to cause situations like this.

  • What are people thinking ( or not) when they are treating animals so cruely? I don't get it. I hope your video wakes people up. And if ,you ,reading this feel sad seeing this video, find a rescue group in your area or online and DONATE SOME MONEY beacause these hard working ,compassionate orginizations depend on it to keep doing the rescues. So if this squeezes your heart...give, give give! You can help!

  • I want to own one, but I think you need to know aton to own a breed like the akita. I watch some dog anime and the stars are akitas. http://dogzrus-kennelz.piczo.com

  • I don't really think that's true. You need to know as much any dog owner and study up a little about typical behaviour, but that's not too hard.

  • I only said what I said because I have dog books and it saids not for first time owners. so I would be a newbie at this breed here: the akita.

  • I own an Akita now, and have owned many dogs in my lifetime. Akita's need more socialization, and an experienced dog owner. They are definitely not for a first time dog owner. However, once you have an Akita for a friend, you've got a friend for life. Never have I had a bond with another dog like I do with my girl Hachi.

  • yeah im so glad u are one of the responsible people who say u wont get an akita cuz u dont really know how to care for them which benefits the dog thanx and God bless u for your humane decision

  • Those savages!

  • That made my heart ache...considering the Akita is my favorite breed...

  • Dear god I felt it too...my god. Is there one in NC? I want to adopt an Akita
