  • I kinda wish this was in colour.

  • it's funny at first and then it gets funnier

  • its funny at first and then it gets so real and sad!

  • Marina is such a talented artist! I went to a seminar of hers yesterday, she said that she lost her voice for a month after this

  • hahahahaha

  • l m f a oooooooooooooo aaaaaaaaaaaaa idiots

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • And now we know the kind of vidoes they would have put on youtube back then.

  • One more performance piece to add to my growing list of talentless "performance" artists.

  • Really good!

  • WHY???? WHY???????

  • i dont think its about winning, people

  • He begins to sound like a sheep...she, some kind of evil bird...together they sound like the piping of the universe

  • don't guess... just do it your self...

  • 9:16 I guess she showed him who's boss.

  • Actually towards the end it's more like "WAA AAA".

  • rofl

  • This should finish with a screen saying "ART".

  • WTF?!

  • so i kinda thought she was gonna eat his face for some reason......

  • Must of been exhausting but I live Marina :)

  • my brother and i did this between the ages of 3 & 4 until we were 7 and 8.

  • Omg Marina so totally does win. lol.

  • what s going on ?

    can any1 tell me?

  • @hasti213 It's art. I guess.

  • stupidity

  • chills. goosebumps. wow.

  • marina wins

  • i love art and i feel sad that i only just discovered Marina!

  • This is a prediction of internet arguments!

  • @Coxworthful Exactly!

  • me and my brother used to do this when we were kids, we used to scream at each others faces and match our voices to the top of our lungs.

  • So it's much akin to a transfer of pain? An argument: an imposition upon another person to feel your pain. Art is subjective so I'll go with that.

  • Impressive. Goosebumps.

  • o ma li chiudete in un manicomio a questi?

  • @sometime1suit hahahahahahahahahahahaha!

  • Ateism vs Teism

  • This is how the first "hello" came to be...

  • they are like two mirrors in front of eachtother,or maybe... they are absorving eachothers energies by screaming... hmm

  • i actually find her very interesting.

  • i have the weirdest boner right now

  • this all about the things that haven't been explored to do in public and trying to understand the transition of thinking by sound from conscious thinking and rationalizing to a mental state of absence until you find yourself doing it in third person view or something... wow

  • @don19arroyo plus the pleasure you found from screaming.... though it is kind of painful you are becoming use to it and got it completely ignored like throwing your problems away but in this your thinking instead wow! good artist and i only discovered her minutes ago

  • On another note, this reminds me of Disney's Dinosaur ;) I find it a bit disturbing though, especially near the end.

  • What is it with people comparing this to Warhol? Just because it's the only artist you know doesn't mean that everything has to be compared to him, and by the way, this is PERFORMANCE art not POP art. Come on people do some research before you open your mouths.

  • This is music :)

  • I am so sorry, and i don´t wanna be stupid but can anyone explain what that performance means???I am a bit confused, but i would really like to know.

  • I know everyone is going to vote this down, and it will soon be replaced by "This comment has received too many negative votes," But I only find this annoying. Everyone's saying art can be anything, like whatever this is, but art also allows people to have opinions, so don't go around deleting comments because you don't agree with them.

  • Amazing Symbolism in this work. I love it! A lot of things to look for when viewing this piece. My Point of View of this piece is of an argument between 2 people where the sound produced from their voices develops over time into something very broad and compelling to where their is only one who finishes last(As given to popular belief that women last longer in arguments so to speak) Thats my perspective of this piece. I hope others can find something interesting of this piece in their own view.

  • I bet I will be called uneducated, uncultured or something like that, but in my opinion, it is a disgrace to call this art. Art is something you need to work at 'getting'. A great painting or opera or sculpture is just beautiful. Everyone can see the beauty straight away. All this bollocks about "well this is a comment on this part of society", etc, etc is total bullshit. Let the hating begin.

  • HOLY MOTHER OF FUCK

  • What the fuck did I just watch? Warhol did it better with a hamburger.

  • everything is art

  • @turnuon79 Everything IS art. :)

  • I don't know if this is art or not (I have come to realize that art is a subjective matter), I don't even know if I like it. What I know is that I couldn't take my eyes (or ears) off the screen.

  • To those calling that this isn't art:

You're focusing on a very narrow view onto the definition of art. This is concept art. It's not about how it looks, but what it symbolises. CONCEPT art. Look at the concept.

  • Art takes work, talent and dedication, two people yelling at each other for 10 minutes is neither of those things, stop pretending that it is.

"Contemporary art is not about virtuosity or technique, is something much deeper."

The summation of why modern art is a joke, and will be forgotten in the coming centuries.

  • They're arguing about whether this is art or not.

  • It matters that pieces like this one *are*. It does not matter whether or not they are art.

  • This is good art.

It just happens to sound a lot like American politics.

  • wtf

  • il limite tra arte e autolesionismo?????????

  • is it art?

when you are faced with something that is powerful, inspiring, moving, or beautiful, you have an experience with it that is one of the most important moments in life, certainly my life. At that moment, it is not important to decide whether it is art.

Later on you can endlessly ponder and debate about what to call it, or whether it is art (what IS art?)

  • wow

    profound

    ridiculous

opens you up to deep meditation about suffering, existence, the human condition

so different from representational art, yet most like a kind of theatre

    playing with the raw materials

  • It took my pain away...

  • l.m.a.o.

  • Omfg

  • marina you are one and only! i understood how silly, sad and ugly we are when we scream at each other! i'll never fight with my man again, screaming and insulting him...thanks...this is art...

  • I don't understand this and that's what makes it art, because the moment you think you understand a piece of art is the moment it dies. This way it lives on forever...sits in the back of your mind...comes up every once in a while...makes you think....then is forgotten for a while again...but non the less, lives on.

  • some people will never understand art... too bad!! loved this one

  • so if i fart in a camera and justify my "performance" with "this video is reflecting my anger towards pollution". is that art then?

  • @ElleCeeS Apparently. Go become a millionaire showing everyone your fart.

  • I feel a bit ashamed about the coments in this video.. really.. nobody seems know nothing about Abramovic's art... you don't have to like it...that's not the final objective... just experienced it...

  • Found my new ringtone............

  • Whoever created these videos is a comedic genius

  • Comment removed

  • this is the most retarded thing i have ever seen in my entire life

  • Wow, a woman wins at yelling about nothing; just another day in the life of men.

  • She wins! That guy always cought to get air!

  • just fuck already

  • yeah this is not art. if you disagree i pity you and everyone you touch.

may god have mercy upon you, because i certainly would not.

  • the best part was when they were like AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • sounds like elephants having sexual intercourse.

  • watch?v=hUJagb7hL0E this is music.

  • evol

  • after her death i will commemorate her performances with a fart

  • Studying contemporary art is sometimes really really trying on the individual. *sigh*

  • Explores some novel concepts about physical boundaries, and as both bodies near each other you could almost say they create a sort of physical representation of what is appropriate body distance throughout different cultures/relationships.

In regards to tension, I felt it was quite obvious in the beginning; however, I felt that it went through a lull in the middle. There was this fantastic crescendo, and then it sort of fell flat for me. However, the end is quite amazing and almost comedic.

  • Epic ending!

  • for some reason i cant really explain i enjoyed every second of this. weird? well all i hope is that they washed their teeth before doing this.

  • hahahah what stupid people!!!!

  • Every has their own opinion in what is art and what isn't. So shut the hell up and stop arguing.

  • lol that was sick! :D hope they both used some good toothpaste before =))

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

  • Brownie points for all the people here who have offered the opinion the work is absurd or ridiculous but who have refrained from dismissing it as crap. Absurd and ridiculous can be good. A clown is ridiculous. A great clown is a great artist. This work is many things and absurd is one of them.

  • 2:45 bitches be harmonizn! WOO

  • OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

  • AAAaaaAAAAAaaaaaaAAaAaaAA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

  • all couples should do this once a day as therapy.

  • Would someone please explain to me why this is art? An actual explanation, not just a "you're being ignorant and don't know anything."

  • @FrencyMerty Excuse me, are you the God who decides what really art is?

  • @unraropersonaje this is an opinion...

  • @unraropersonaje you dont need to be god to kwon what art is and this is hell not a art

  • So what is art then, smarty pants?

  • Comment removed

  • @unraropersonaje he or she just said his or her oppinion.why, are u god?

  • @unraropersonaje He can't be! I am!!! :D

  • @FrencyMerty you aren't art. you have big limits that Marina has no more.

  • @mynameisfetcha i like it, but this is just an opinion..

  • The best Tarzan impersonation ever!

  • This may be the dumbest fucking thing to ever exist. I mean sure, you can say this is art. Art can still be shitty. Good art gives a message to the audience. This gives a headache to me.

  • @Potatomade Good art doesn't give a simple and clear message. That is the job of propaganda and advertising. Good art gives a simple and clear signal, but that is an entirely different thing.

  • @HecklerBoy7 Contemporary art is not about virtuosity or technique, is something much deeper. You have to read and study a little more my friend.

  • @unraropersonaje then if you understand it explain it.

  • @HecklerBoy7 And YouTube comments show that any ignorant dipshit can tell the whole world what they think without having made any effort to understand what it is they are commenting about.

  • @fartybraindeath Yes, and you're comment is evidence of that. You dumb twat.

  • @HecklerBoy7 You may not have noticed that there are people who find this meaningful and even moving. You are too lazy and complacent to ask yourself why, and too self-satisfied to ask one of those people the same question so you just write this very large number of people en masse as pretentious.

Once you understand, you are entitled to make any judgement you like, but if you can't be bothered to understand, you are simply lazy and boorish.

  • @fartybraindeath First of all, I know why some people find this "meaningful and even moving". You're hasty guess that I "don't understand" IS PRETENTIOUS, you pseudo afficionado. And since I now "understand" I am now "entitled to make any judgement"; I still think it's a crock of shit. If you had half the brain you obviously think you have, you'd realize that art is subjective. I like You cannot deduce that I'm "ignorant" simply because I don't find beauty in something that gives you a boner.

  • დედის ტყვნააააა

  • I had the "pleasure" of seeing this woman's display at MoMA a few months ago. I was stunned how ridiculous it all was. I could go on and on about how stupid all of her "art" was, but there's not enough room here to fully explain. I'll just say: most of it (including this) nearly made me laugh.

  • @braddyboy82 That you apparently went to MoMA, meaning that you must have planned specifically to see her work, and where there was plenty of documentation available shedding light on the artist's intention, yet you have nothing to say about it, just shows that you are a pathetic lying little troll.

  • @fartybraindeath

I did not specifically plan to see her work. I was in NYC at the time and my buddy and I thought it would be enriching to go to MoMA. Boy were we surprised at what we saw!!

  • I think it's about how arguing often doesn't solve anything. They're yelling but in the end- nothing was ever really said.

  • laryngitis much?

  • Reminds me of buddhist chanting, except done by tone deaf monks who've had a bad day.

  • ჯანდაბააააააააა! :დ

  • Ulay keeps failing

  • hoffentlich haben die sich vorher die zähne geputzt...wah -.-

  • she won

  • @ChairmanMauMau haha yeah women have a long history in yelling.Impossible to beat them in their own field:)

  • oh mein gott selbst wenn ich jetzt als banause gelte aber DAS ist ja sowas von bekloppt....... -.-

  • so who thinks they had sex after this? That was pretty hot.

  • hope they had a mint before this exercise.

  • Id probably crack up laughing if I was doing this.

  • hahahahaha, well, at least its funny right? I mean, depending on what have u smoked prior to watching this , i'm lmao ..

  • i saw her at MoMA

  • heh heh, country music is funny ....

  • I was not familar with Marina at all, i went to MOMA to see Tim Burton exhibit but went to see hers, i was really impressed, really left an impression on me.

  • I think is great

  • What? I can't hear you.

  • personally I find this extremely fascinating.

  • I like how it starts off as them just making a noise and turns into almost this primal screaming match of just pure human rage, almost spiritual, sad and kind of reflective of peoples anger. Like yeah...lol

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • I can not understand why people like this... and even do this! ... and yes I'm into art myself.

  • Because when you do something like this, you can change yourself. And this is something important for some artists. Do something real, nonfiction, something that lets you transform yourself and maybe someone else. It's an interesting philosophy that has nothing to do with an esthetic. Abramivić wanted to reach their limits, do things with her body until she could no more, to change herself. As I said before, contemporary art is (in most cases) about live it, not to understand it.

  • Thanks for the explanation. Although I still don't really seem to understand it, you did make it more clearer to me. Thank you for that.

  • @unraropersonaje However,I think art has to use old methods again.Contemporary becomes more and more passe

  • @vedraville Classic-modern arts will never be completely lost. Maybe they acquire transformation and change a little, but they will do about the 'form', mainly, they so far have taken some things of contemporary art like new esthetics and forms or they have made disciplines from the strategies. And, I think, that there are really not purely contemporary artists, or nor purely modern artists. But it is not difficult to find artists working completely with the old school methods and thinking way.

  • @unraropersonaje PD: Sorry for my english :/ I hope you understand the main idea.

  • @unraropersonaje I agree.

  • because its not for people like you

  • @Xweetke It's hard to understand any particular work without context & that's difficult to provide on Youtube. Marina Abramovic has said she doesn't think documentation is true to performance work & that her stuff makes no sense unless you're there, in the room, with her. So, yeah, why would someone do this or find it interesting is an important question/concern.

But I'm sure Emotion & Transformation are paplable if you're standing beside them & you might see this a metaphor for all conflict.

  • @Xweetke

you dont understand this because you're dumb. Your art must suck a lot!

  • wtf...

  • You can learn something if you ask to Google about Abramović and her performances... Contemporary Art it's not about understanding it's about living it :>
