Wow. Am a big Cohen fan, but have just heard this for the first time. Hairs on my neck are still standing on end!

Saw LC live a couple of years back, and it was one of the best nights of my life. One of his poem recitals ( A Thousand Kisses Deep) had members of the audience in tears.

I'm so glad I found this clip. I was so excited when I heard about Glass and Cohen's collaboration....and I loved the result!

I always loved Leonard, but found out about Glass after listening to his music from "The Hours" (I was blown away by that album for some reason)..

Anyway, so glad they decided to work together - some quality music and heart in this artificial and fake world

although i love this opening piece, the work as a whole was disappointing to me... it's quite a bit humdrum

humdrum? that's like saying the dew on the morning grass is liquid. Nothing that this man does is hum-drum. His music and poetry is perfection!

Well, even though I am a huge Glass fan, every so often I'm not happy with some piece. Needless to say he recycles a lot of his musical ideas and repeats his music incessantly, which is part of what he does, as it determines the uniqueness of his voice. However, some parts of Book of Longing seemed a bit uninspired to me, especially the vocal melodies, which seemed to be lacking. The piece as a whole reminded me very much of Hydrogen Jukebox, some of whose parts I can bring a similar about.
