  • metallica fucking sucks dick anyone who likes this instead of justin bieber should get a fucking life

  • Wow, a truly amazing cover!!!!!!!!! love it. Whatever became of Metallica?

  • I like how tw19771's first comment says "I'm done wasting my time with ya" then he proceeds to make like 6 more comments. what a fag.

  • Sucking my looooooove

  • It's interesting that James didn't even play guitar on this.

  • damn dave could play back then

  • I LOVE IT

  • That's why Metallica sucks! Co za asy... LOL

  • Oh wow is there some arguing below me

  • @ekmad

xD hahaha, yeah, some over-enthusiastic persons.

  • And the managment doesn't want to deal with 4 guys with possibly 4 different opinions. they have a lot to do so they wanna talk to the band member steering the ship and in this case its Lars. This will be my last entry to this clip, because honestly, I don't really wanna put up with pissy fanboys with make believe berklee degrees, with make believe access to Metallica's hidden Lair, contracts and retirement benefits and whatever he he wants to believe about himself.

  • What doesn't happen, is some fanciful idea that the band has a 4 people meeting basically dictating that they aren't gonna do certain things and they basically tell the managers and label fuck off. And they start making phone calls doing the press they want with the labels money. Doesn't happen that way, their opinions do amount to alot but at the end of the day the label and managements say is final on the press and the band has to deal. or get new management/label.

  • Step 2. Band leader informs the band of what kind of record they need to record, and the band begins working. Band leader begins molding the songs to the requirements asked of the label/managers. Once the record is final they give it to the label. Who then give a listen and may give a thumbs up. If its to their liking they start the marketing campaign. And give the plan to Management who further fine tune it and make the final arrangements and scheduling.

  • @tw19771

wrong duder...maybe for boy bands and flavor of the week shit...No One tells a band this big how or what to write.

  • And heres the true rundown of making a record for anybody reading this.

Step 1. Label decides to send a Rep to the band or managers to tell them the kind of record they want. They might assign a producer to the project with the budget allocated to pay for the recording time. Especially if a big push of the album is wanted. At Metallica's level the label usually talks to the management. Who informs the band leader in this case lars. Smaller bands usually don't go through this.

  • Oh and for anybody that reads this and gets confused. The asshat below hasn't seen Metallica's contract, just Q-Prime, the label, the band and the lawyers. These contracts aren't public domain to be critiqued. And Frantic Inc. was a tour rider name, the band used for legal stuff to deal with tour promotors. the 200 employees were probably the road crew. And the band members had to be represented equally for legalese. Frantic Inc had little to do with media marketing. decisions.

  • I can't really say how my foot tastes since its been up your ass the last hour we've been going back and forth on here. You've been going on and on about Berklee degrees and being to HQ seeing Q-Primes contracts. But the only thing you proved is that you know jack shit about this industry. and the Mechanics of it. And this last one proves you are being a defensive fanboy. look toward Peter Mench and Cliff Bernstein, they are the marketers.

Done wasting my time with ya.

  • I mean when James, sits there and tells Kirk he's not allowed to have guitar leads on this record,

when James the last one leaving the studio listening to the songs and working out arrangements to make them single friendly to appease Q-Prime. i.e Lars.

When he's making final mastering/engineering decisions so the records sound current to the times culture. Lars

Then I'll concede my point, that Lars wears the managments pants in this band.

Until then, quit acting the nieve fanboy

  • Have they ever officially recorded this?

  • @gubaldino Nah and it's too bad

  • Love this version.

  • Ha ha.. Your an idoit !! You're just a baby when the black album came out and you call it thrash !! That album sucked ass far from a thrash record . Maybe if you were a true thrash fan you would know and james can't sing his old songs anymore !! thanks metallica for kickin dave out !!

  • Thai Male girls for marriage gettop5.info

  • Bigtime Metallica fan...and Megadeth fan...people need to get over it...really and truly, if you argue over whos better you are a poser...anyone who likes one and hates the other is a hypocritical douchebag...

  • @capnkdawg megadeth is better. its a metal fact.

  • @Phant0mAssass1n You are just a Dave cock sucker...you just need to get over the argument and learn to enjoy one and leave the other alone

  • @Phant0mAssass1n And the dumbass argument goes on ;-)

  • Still rocks from my garage!

  • Metaldeth

  • tasssstyyyy!

  • @Ryanmetalmatthew considering dave masturbates all over the fretboard and plays 10 thousand notes in a small time signature... kirk and dave both have their advantages and disadvantages

  • hetfield really sucked those days

i'm glad he changed that bitch voice

sounds like dave mustaine = mad kid/grandma with helium

  • @petugalo No, it sounds like a Diamondhead cover dumbass.

  • Iron Maiden, Helloween, Sepultura, Megadeth, Testament, Danzig, Kreator, Dark Angel, Nuclear Assault, Death Angel, Anthrax, Slayer, Motley Crue, Artillery, Sucidal Tendencies, L.A. Guns, Xentrix, Atrophy, Sodom, Exodus, Celtic Frost, Cannibal Corse, Black Sabbath, Destruction,Annihilator, M.O.D., Alice Cooper, AC/DC ,Pantera, Death

  • MegatallicA

  • Megadeth "fanboys" are nothing but posers here talking shit about Metallica, but the truth is... That they love Metallica! If i was wrong, you guys wouldnt be here arguing.

  • @FINPutkonen all fanboys are poseurs. but being a metallica is still a bigger poseur than being a megadeth fanboy.

  • @Phant0mAssass1n Why do people that like Metallica and Megadeth have to be fanboys? What if someone likes both those bands and all kinds of other thrash bands? Who gives a fuck.

  • @TheSilencer1313 how about you like niether band and still like other thrash bands.

  • @Phant0mAssass1n Your just one of those pitiful assholes that can't stand the fact that a few thrash bands went mainstream, and they were the best ones in the scene anyway. Ask anyone from the "Big 5" or "Big 6",(depending on who you count) and they will tell you who set the fucking bar in thrash metal.

Metallica, and Mustaine set the bar higher than most thrash bands could match.

Nobody even knew how to do it before Metallica came along buddy ;-)

  • @TheSilencer1313 all slowtallica did was make thrash famous. metallica was never the best in the scene. you're a giant poseur for saying that.

  • @Phant0mAssass1n Yeah thats funny. Obviously you haven't seen 'Get Thrashed'.

When 'Kill Em' All' dropped, it was the fastest, heaviest shit around.

Your a poser for denying that Metallica were the rulers of the scene back then.

  • @Phant0mAssass1n music doesn't have to be fast to be good. Black Sabbath is slow, yet heavy as fuck.

  • @TheSilencer1313 Haven't you heard of Slayer.

  • @TheSilencer1313 Haven't you heard of Slayer.

  • @claggluru Yeah and when Kill Em' All dropped, Slayer was playing a bunch of covers and putting on pussy make-up.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheSilencer1313 Not quite, Show No Mercy was released about 6 months after Kill Em All & is thrashier than Kill Em All. If you were to talk about Ride the lightning then that would be different.

I love both bands & Metallica more than Slayer, but to say that Metallica were the sole rulers of thrash in 1983 is a crock of shit, go back & have a listen, you'll see, unless Slayer is too spooky & scary for you.

  • @claggluru Haha your a funny guy.

No I love Slayer as a band, but they didn't do the same for music that Metallica did.

You had Slayer in 1983 moving in the direction of some of the glam metal bands, still thrashy but without the attitude.

Metallica were the guys that got up on stage in their regular clothes, and brought the NWOBHM back down to earth with punk influence.

They did the same thing Black Sabbath did with their first album, they brought the full on attitude.

  • @TheSilencer1313 in your opinion, the facts are though dude, in the music scene, if you don't have good management or label it can make or break a band, quality songs or not. Metallica was always ahead of the curve in that regard. Mustaine always aggressively pushed his band to get the best of Metallica. If Metallica signed on to Atlantic records back in the day. We wouldn't be having this convo because Metallica would still be underground.

  • @tw19771 It has nothing to do with the big time management. John and Marsha Zazula helped them get on board with Elektra with Megaforce, but Megaforce signed a lot of bands.

It was Lars Ulrich's connections and worldly smarts that kept Metallica on track, as well as his great ways of arranging music.

So who made Metallica the huge band they are?

    Hetfield, Ulrich, and Burton.

They are a selfmade band, and always have been.

A garage band, that became one the biggest of all-time.

  • @TheSilencer1313 dude, they didn't just help the Metallica, Megaforce was MADE and MEANT by the Zazula's to PUSH Metallica, its that simple. Metallica was John and Marsha's baby and they got priority, over other bands in the era, Lars connections? his claim to fame at the time was that he was a fanboy to Diamond Head. And he has never made any business decisions, the managment does. He just follows through on what Cliff Bernstein and Peter Mensch tells him to do. He's not stupid, but hes not god

  • @tw19771 I didn't say Lars was GOD.

But Lars dictates the direction Metallica's music goes for the most part.

Especially in the arranging and the mixing of the albums.

    The music speaks for itself.

  • @TheSilencer1313 Close, all the members of the band have input on arrangements and mixing/mastering. Lars opinion has the most weight due to the fact he is suppossed to find the singles in the way Q-Prime want them. track listing is also his gig. But his job is to answer to the requirements of the bands Management. Who want the band to sound current to sell records.

  • @tw19771 You. Are. So. Full. Of. Shit. If you watch SKOM you can see clearly that the whole band has creative control and they ALL meet with management to make GROUP decisions.

  • @avidmoviefan if you don't know and apparently you don't asshole, then don't be talking shit. First SKOM, you should know was put out there as a marketing ploy for that records promotion, creatively everybody in this band has input on the writing of the songs. But marketing decisions is Q-Primes gig, and they mostly talk to Lars about how THEY want the record to be for promotion. Kirk/James/producer/hired gun bassist work around that.

  • @tw19771 So, the two scenes in SKOM in the special features where the whole band and Q Prime are in the room making joint decsions abou the band with Hetfield making the primary decisions in regards to song title, album name, release date are fake? You know nothing about Metallica. SKOM was initially supposed to be used as a marketing tool for teh new albuk but direction was changed when Joe Berlinger appraoched the band about a documentary, read the companion book dick. I did.

  • @avidmoviefan Idiot, you don't seem to realize that the Documentary itself was for the albums promotion??

You don't understand that The title of the Albums, songs, and release dates have also been a group issue? i.e the albums creation. and has been since the bands inception with KEA and thats an issue with creativity. And nothing to do directly for the press and marketing for the band Just that the management knows what to call it when promoting it.

    THEY AREN'T MARKETING DECISIONS MORON

  • @tw19771 ummm I have a bachelor's degree in music business management from Berklee College fo Music in Boston. Q Prime is known as a "hands off" organization. They also manage Def Leppard. Metallica, contractually, has retained all rights to their music, and has always had final say on any marketing decisions--watch the special interview on the 2 of One video for more info. I have actually seen their contracts for classes I took for my degree. You have no idea what you are talking about.

  • @avidmoviefan all rights to the music has little to do with the managment. Thats an issue with the record labels and performing rights organizations BMI/ASCAP. Managers preferrably with Lawyers work out the contracts for bands, and can work the rights out. But no Managment on this level is "hands off" They are very much involved, or the bands fall apart. Lars wouldn't last 5 minutes making the constant calls for the press, or making sure they have adequate equipment for the road, etc etc

  • @avidmoviefan As for your degree I'm happy for you. Just be sure to try to get some kind of refresher course going. Because uh, heh, If a band hires you and you think that you can just let them make all the marketing press decisions. Word to the wise, you won't be employed very long. and thats a promise

  • @tw19771 I seem to be doing just fine tarveling the country and living off of my ASCAP checks and not working a minute of any day. Aren't you late for your job at Circle K?

  • @avidmoviefan As for group decisions remember when James was there overhearing Q-Prime's demands for a silly radio press Advertising snippet which he said he didn't want to do. And the mighty Q said they pull the press and kill their careers, James reply was and I quote.

    James: "They can do that??"

The answer James is yes they can and managers/labels have done it it to other bands, its common. And its a direct indicator of Hetfields experience in the matter of the bands marketing, if any.

  • @tw19771 When James said, "they can do that?" He was refering to the program directors for the radio stations, not management. This led to the line, "wash your back so you don't stab mine." This was a fuck you to RADIO stations, not management. The point was that James says, "can we stop this" mangement replies, "yes, but if you do the radio stations will fuck you." They had the option to not do it but being the business men that they are they chose to participate no matter how unwilling.

  • @avidmoviefan Well clear channel technically could, If that was a clear channel affiliated station. But the fact is that James beyond doing interviews has zero influence on the marketing of the band. You mentioned song titles release dates. Its in the other band members interest to know that shit when asked. And thats why there was a group meetings about it, and always have been. As for the Radio stations pulling the songs. James would have known that too, just lack of experience on the issue.

  • @tw19771 Even though James' contract with Frantic Inc. DBA Metallica--yes they are a private coporation with over 200 employees and amazing benefits for those employees-- in which James is a full voting and vetoing body, that James, Lars, Kirk and Rob retain their respective percentages (25% each) of control over all marketing decisions? Man, does your foot taste good? I have been to HQ, have you? Nope. Done with this convo.

  • @tw19771

James: "You mean they would FUCK us just because they didn't GET something from us??"

Cliff B (amused): "Yes James, they would!"

  • @tw19771 Lars was also friends with Robert Allen, Rick Allen from Def Leppard's brother who works for Q Prime. Both bands are managed by the same team. Robert Allen is responsible for both Def Lep and Metallica's climb to fame. Lars was more than a "fanboy" he was VERY well connected.

  • Thank god for Dave Mustaine

  • This song's cool. Dave Mustaine Rules!

  • comming from a internet loser

  • go sit on daves guitar, to be specific, sit on the neck, and let it slip in real deep, and tell him to play some un-melodic shreds, maybe that vast amount of vibration wud shut u the hell up :)

  • wow the beginning of the solo at 5:41 is exactly what mustaine used in Holy Wars! good show! oh and respect for both dave and kirk, they're both great in their own unique ways. mustaines an ace guitarist, but kirk did come up with the solo's to fade to black and creeping death, not to mention the interlude solo to the four horsemen.

  • @kazemshah James wrote a lot of solos back then, just look for wah, then its kirks :D

  • MEGADAVE RULES

  • DAVE KICKS KIRKS ASS ANY FUCKIN DAY!

  • true

  • go sleep ass face

  • The web says Metallica has just dug up this rare demo. Yet this video has been on YouTube for over 2 years.

  • News is obvioulsy B.S LOL

    watch?v=L91H3h21Cko

^^ Am I Evil from the same session

  • cool

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah so glad they kicked him out of metallica ..... Then there wouldnt be Megadeth... that would really suck !!!

  • @ByronW365 I so agree. Its so stupid when those super Megadeth fans bitch about Metallica kicking out Dave, but what they don`t think about is that, if they didnt, Dave would probably still be in Metallica and there wouldnt be any Megadeth. And thats a tought that makes me sad. Imagine a world without Hangar 18, Symphony of Destruction, Peace Sells and so on.

  • @Zehtgorat symphony of destruction is almost the worst song on that album.

  • @thrasherlml Well... you clearly got it wrong. What you meant is symphony of destruction is one of the not most awesome songs on the album. But i was saying it was either, i just wrote the songs i could think of and it was those 3 this time

  • @ByronW365 no it wouldnt......

  • @Constantdoodle Okay fan boy !!! You like thrash ? Or do you like trash !! cuz that is what metallica became .

  • @ByronW365 Hahahah... thats funny.... Hey does dave pinch his nose when he sings or does he just sound like a congested retard anyways? And to your question, I just like good music... to bad for megadeth.......

  • @ByronW365 you're so fucking right its not even funny

  • @BRYANJONATHAN13 Yeah !! I have two very important thing in my life besides my family and that is megadeth and boxing , well by megadeth i mean thrash in general .

  • Dave slays Kirk.

    But Kirk is cool enough..

  • Dave is without a doubt the better technical player.

  • James vocal style is hilarious to me AOWW!! Mick Jagger exclamations and every damn thing

  • That would have been funny bashing kirk insted of dave, then maybe dave wouldnt cry himself to sleep on a cock shaped pillow.

  • I love it, I love it!

  • nah if mustaine woula stayed with metallica then kirk would have stayed with exodus and who knows what would have came from that?

  • @NaturalBornThrasher1 we would be singing a whole other tune man

  • haha mustaine definitely listened to a lot of aerosmith i can hear joe perry in his playing am i right?

  • mayb a little but he even said his greatest influence was Diamond head

  • good shit i wish they would come back to this, its awesome

  • I have to thank Lars for turning me onto one of the greatest metal bands of all time. DIAMOND HEAD!!

  • Diamond Head ARE FUCKING GREAT!

  • like his voice

  • I knew James tried for a more NWOBHM voice in the early days, but damn. I never heard him like this.

  • Dave Mustaine rulz !!!!

  • Hey guys check out my cover on phantom lord ! :D

the quality ain't the best, but it works!

  • James sounds like the Diamond Head singer at this sound quality xD also, the guitar is awesome :P too bad Dave had problems with alcohol :(

  • yea dave had a great future with metallica

  • But if it werent for his alcohol and drugs,Kirk hammet wouldnt exist, haha

  • lmao, erm don't you mean he wouldn't be who he is today, not completely cease to exist.

  • yo know what i meannobody would know who he is nless he made it bog with another band or something

  • ya but dave still has a great career

  • yaggermiester

  • Holy shit. I have the Diamond Head album, Lightning To The Nations. It's really great, and Metallica covered Sucking My Love really good.

  • dam I need that fucking album I can't find it on any store ¡¡¡¡

  • really enjoying this...thanks!

  • 5.41-5.52 Nice. I prefer it to Tatler's solo, which always seemed out of sync with the rhythm section.

  • What a loooooooooooooovely song_!

  • Wow!!!! Thanks for posting this super rare song. All Metallica fans should go out and purchase "Lighting to the Nations" to see where alot of their influence came from.

Fans of obscure, unheard of heavy shit should check out VSD from Baltimore on youtube. They recorded 5 songs live in 1987 that have resurfaced on here. VSD- Phantasmagoria ( features a "One" part 5 years before Metallica released it), Mental Breakdown, Conformity Sucks, Girl Troubles , and the classic Kill Your Kids. Enjoy!

  • since metallica put out "one" in 1988, there is no way that a performance from 87 is "5 years before"

i dont even know what part youre talking about - the tapping part in the solo? i didnt really hear the whole song, the quality is pretty hard to listen to for 8 minutes.

  • Harris and Tattler could write really heavy shit and Ronnie could not. This is one killer song off of one hell of an album! Takes me back man.

  • Ron's bass sounds badass.

  • Ron sounds like he had a pretty fat bass tone.......wonder why his career never panned out.

  • Ron never wanted to be famous, like James and Lars. They wanted to rule the world from the first day on.Ron was more the Garage-Jamguy...

  • A lot of people are like that, I guess. It always astounds though that you play an instrument, join a band, yet not want to hit it big. I have heard that the reason for leaving was that he didn't really contribute anything song-wise, and the others wanted somebody a bit more creative, which they got and then some.

  • he also had a lots of problems with dave.he put beer into rons amp,so ron gets shocked. then he threw Dave Lars and James out of his house and left the band.

  • RIght, I know that part of it. That's the story you always hear when anybody talks about Metallica's history. The part I mentioned I had just read about in an old interview online a few months ago.

  • ok,that's sth i didn't know before.

seems like you can find out new things about Tallica everyday ; )

  • Not sure where I read it; might've been a link off Metallica's Wikipedia page down at the bottom where they list external inks and stuff. I thought it was interesting, though I kinda thought there was more to that story than what Metallica publicly acknowledges. I think it was James, maybe Lars, who was interviewed for the article.

  • Mustaine Owns

  • love playing the riffs in this song, so awesome!

  • Wow, the intro riff and the main riff of this song are fucking purely awesome. I'm surprised I haven't heard more of this band.

  • there was a critic who said that their first album contains more good riffs in a single song than you can find in any black sabbath album. while i think not all songs are that strong (and i like sabbath :) ), diamond head's first album is awesome! respect for metallica's taste!

  • Hah, interesting. . . I don't know if you can say that about Sabbath. Yeah Diamond Head is certainly an overlooked band, but their sound definetely can be very emotional and has alot of feeling when Metallica covers them.

  • it has got some of the best riffs you will hear tho

  • you should alway's listen to metallica O.O there the best band eveer

  • dave make this song sound better than the original

  • Hot damn Dave Mustaine plays a badass lead on this song!

  • Good job, Dave.

  • Hell, it sounds better than any of my band's old garage tapes. Well, except for the missing part.

  • This is impossible to hear who the singer is.

  • young james ftw!

  • holy wars solo.. hahahaha dave riff it off

  • That Metallica had played this cover originated two of the greatest things in the history of metal: the riff of "Seek and Destroy" and part of the end guitar solo of "Holy Wars... The Punishment Due" (5:45-6:00 here)

  • Amazing isn't it how we lived in that time? Music kicked so much ass back then, and now we get to watch it evolve from what we loved, to something differen't, and yeah some of it is crap, but there are some that actually get it right.

  • James has an awesome voice for this song, it's hard to tell so turn the volume up. turn it to 11. XD

  • geez... original is no much better!

  • diamond head lol

it even says on the info

  • What a boob..."bet none of you tardos know"...good job there Mr. Mental Midget!!

  • of course it's james singing, how could you NOT tell?

  • anyone knows if james singing?

  • i downloaded this off of soulseek, i thought it was just a garage band with a shity PA

  • It IS just a garage band with a shitty PA! But then, from small acorns do mighty oak trees grow!

  • shouldn't the date be 3/?/82?

  • not in every country people write M/D/Y, in come places is D/M/Y

  • getting a band!..

  • Dave really rips it up in this, love it..

  • really wish they had done this for garage days revisited, or any of the cover albums/collections that followed.

so cool to hear dave on lead!

  • Metallica do an ace job covering anything, this like all the rest is a masterpiece.

    Shame about the quality.

  • amazing cover of an amazing song, goddamn i miss when this band was awesome, too bad they haven't been awesome in 20 years.

  • I'm horrible like this song.

  • sorry a faggot friend wrote this

he has no taste in music this song is awsome

  • get new friends.

  • nice performance, makes it quite clear where the later "Seek & Destroy" originated from :-)

  • Metallica kicked so much as with cliff and dave.
