  • This past September I was hit with what I thought was food poising (lasted a long time). Blood test came back good except for my cholesterol! It was at 230 with my LDL at 167! Dr told me to start taking Omega-3 and I never did(scared it would make my stomach feel worse). In November I had another blood test done and my cholesterol was at 206 and LDL at 142. Today (Dec 16) is when I took my first Omega-3 pill. My stomach feels better but the whole thing gave me BAD anxiety! I hope the Omega works

  • if it doesn't work for you immediately and there are bad side effects like fishy smell in sweat and burps don't worry, if you don't usually eat fish your body doesn't really know how to process it immediately. after eating fish more often you will be able to process the fish oil, so maybe you should think about changing your diet slightly before buying a huge pack of fish oil pills.

  • I started to get omega369 supplyment from last week. Before it I got Fishoil sppulyment for 2 weeks. I have bad nee.So I expect them to get lost my weight.

  • Right on!

  • Tip: Eat Sardines daily

  • i ear that there is a new source of omega 3 with no toxins from the ocean and is new in usa and FDA approved, very rich in A.L.A. (0.5grs) per pill, i want to know if you know something about it, tha name is Marvalous and its from Salvia Sclarea plant. Thank you.

  • ur so cute...lol

but i'm also in the medical field and i researched alot about fish oil, now i'm starting to take this :D

but how much is the ideal amount to get the maximum benefits?

is 1g. enough? and is it okay to take up to 3g?

is there such a thing as taking too much? or is it okay?

i don't have any underlying disease and i'm pretty healthy. but i just want the maximum benefits for the future.

  • before i would masturbate 8 times a day on an average and feel weak and if i abstain from sex or masturbation it would make me one furious angry man at work

i started having strange sexual fetishes like enjoying to sniff my girlfriends queefs and farts sniffing her sweaty hairy armpits, she would enjoy pissing on my chest

but after omega 3 life is wonderfully sane

  • @TheSkirmishes

Thanks I needed to hear that.

  • Pause at 1:10 for the LoLz!

  • Wow. Great video

  • Fish oil changed my life. What this kid is saying is 100% right!!

  • This is great, thank you for your knowledge you are a great teacher!

  • r u gay?

  • Fish oil got me off anti-depressants- without withdrawal - and helped my arthritis.

  • do u like fish dicks?

  • The highest source of Omega 3 in the plant kingdom is lifemax(dot)net/sage

  • First of all fish oil supplements are a processed food !and they become Rancid on the process . all fish is contaminated with MERCURY and PCB ...want to be healthy grow your own food and dont eat process foods my great grandmother died when she was 105 and she didnot take fish oil and no vitamin pills !! people are lazy to cook so they eat garbage ! and sit on the computure and on the cell phone getting emf radiation . and wonder why they have cancer or high blood pressure !

  • omega three is now being used in the AREDS 2 study for macular degeneration, so it is main stream now in the eye community to treat dry eyes and now macular degeneration. i think the newest science also point to using a triglyceride form omega three fish oil instead of ethel ester fish oils. good luck in med school, glad to see medical student that is interested in nutrition.

  • I eat a decent amount of eggs, it says there is omega 3 in them but i assume it would be a very low amount, i just got some omega 3 oil capsuls from sardine and anchovy sources, which i liked because how often does one eat those types of fish, im gonna start taking one a day with breakfast, does that sound positive to you Doc?

  • Fish oil especially its content DHA is associated with Type 2 diabetes. People make sure that u dn take more than the body needs. For healthy people its around 1gm of EPA + DHA per day.

  • Thank you for researching the benefits of fish oil and Omega-3's, and for getting the word out! We agree that DHA and essential fatty acids are crucial to health!

  • I am a skinny person. Can i know, does EFA omega 3 helps to gain weight to the extent of a standard body size? It would be great if you know the definite answer =D

  • @xiaornb I usto be really thin my self until I started going to the gym and started lifting weights. Going to the gym isnt only for people who want to loose weight but its also great for people who want to tone up and build muscle. I'm 5'1 and I usto weight 90 pounds. Since I started working out I now weight 108 which is perfect for my height and body size. Go to your local gym and speak to a personal trainer and he or she will give u great tips.

  • @xiaornb Dear Xiaornb, no in this amount it will not switch your body into fat making

Depends on your activity and relative BMR (the basic energy usage of your body in regard to your body weight and hight). If you eat more "calories" than you use- you would gain weight in the form of fat or muscle depends on your activity.

    Good luck gaining weight.

    P.S

Eat correct consult a dietitianist don't too much too fast and combine

fibers to help with good stool. (note that fibers prevent carbs uptake)

  • @xiaornb I don't think so, but It works for obese people to lose weight.

  • @7luckybitch I believe in natural therapies, but sardines? Gross!

  • Eating basic food like Tuna and Rice and taking Nordic Arctic Cod Liver oil has made a 90% decrease in my psoriasis over a 2 month period.

  • was labert der?hobbylos???:D:D

  • @7luckybitch A kilogram? Your going to get 2.2 pounds out of a 100 grams of sardines? I don't think so. There is only like 1.8 grams of Omega-3 per serving. Lmao.

This is why I just take the supplement (purified of mercury of course), I can easily get 10-16 g a day at a cheaper price without the fishy taste in my mouth. ;)

  • he's smart and crorrect!

  • Well i wanna get fat !! lols

  • World renowned psychiatrist and brain imaging expert Dr. Daniel Amen recommends that EVERYONE take a high-quality fish oil supplement. He's written many books, including 'Change Your Brain, Change Your Life', and 'Magnificent Mind at Any Age'. He also highly recommends Ginkgo Biloba to improve blood flow to the brain. He said two of the best brands of Ginkgo are "Ginkoba" and "Ginkgold". Also, 60 Minutes did a great story on a supplement called 'resveratrol' (on YouTube). I use 'Transmax'.

  • If you want a more vegetarian option to get your Omega 3's try flaxseed! You dont want the flaxseed oil you want the actual flaxseed because it has fiber and cancer fighting lignans that flaxseed & fish oil LEAVE OUT! B/c you have to have the flax seed ground up to get all the nutrients it can sometimes be hard to get it in your diet fully. Check out FlaxFit, this new flaxseed tablet that takes the ground flaxseed powder and puts it into a awesome chewable tablet form, look it up at flaxfit.com

  • @AkinaInc A high quality fish oil possesses the most potent cancer fighting agent of them all: Vitamin D.

Flax seed is very good for you though, and I enjoy it often. The only thing to watch out for with flax is that it is high in plant estrogens. Flax oil concentrates these, which is why flax oil should be taken in moderation and should be avoided by those with unbalanced hormonal systems.

  • is it alright to take vegetarian omega 3-6-9 capsule [500mg] as well as a cod liver oil capsule [1000mg] once a day?

  • @tmtulmm The balance of omega 3s and 6s in your diet is just as important as the total amount you get. Nearly ALL americans have an excess of omega 6s in their diet since vegetable/plant oils are all very high in omega 6s, so taking a supplement w/ omega 6s in it (even if there are still omega 3s) will not help bring your ratios back into balance properly. Taking a plain omega 3 supplement would give the best results. you can take flax oil or eat chia seeds which are vegan.

  • @emeraldmorn Flaxseed has omega 3, 6, and 9. But I love taking it!!! My skin is healing!!!

  • intreating! mind the advantages of plant omega 3 sage oil! advantages of alpha linolenic acid without the ocean polutions or plant toxics or allergens. stay healthy!

  • I love you.

  • i searched fatty and this rubbish came up omg

  • SHARK LIVER OIL CAPSULES FOR SALE

MANILA area. we ship 09204986913. thanks. minimum of 300 pieces order.

  • If only they taught med students this stuff, instead of leaving them to discover it themselves. To the uploader, you may also want to look into the casual relation between autoimmune disorders & the composition of gut bacteria cultures. How obesity could be an autoimmune disorder of the hypothalamus due to certain bacteria cultures. Also fructose induced hypertension & leptin resistance are good topics. As is insulin, IGF-1 & cancer.

  • where should you normally store your omega 3 supplement? Please reply, thanks :D

  • can i take fish oil tablets as a subsitute for my extremely low fat diet? like some days i only get about 10 grams of fat a day :l

  • @Fludeyy fat is not bad, but too much is

  • @Fludeyy dude! eat a damn avacado or some nuts! your brain needs it, your skin needs it. natural fats are essential for a human health. if your a vegitairian or vegan there are alot of natural plant scources of healthy fats. if your restricting your fat intake for weight loss reasons, you might due some reaserch and find that fats are metabolized slowly and therfore do contribute to body fat -simple carbs (sugar & starch) do. if your low fat diet is due to liver or galblader probs, idk...

  • Is it ok to take omega 3 if ur on pre menopausal period and oftenly have a high blood pressure?

  • WHAT ABOUT THOSE WHO CANNOT BENEFIT. everytime i eat any fat, even good fat which i depserately need now b/c my brain functions like a retard's, it all goes straight to the toilet all nasty. i have problems digesting any of it & my skin is suffering & i am at a dead end here

what the fuck can you do about this

  • hello mate is omega 3 good for tight muscles and numbnesss on left side of my body becuase i have muscle stiffness and weakness

  • Fish oil contain Alloy (metal) like mercury and lead plus other toxin. The best source for omaga 3 is "flax seed" or "coconut oil". Fish oil will cause cancer and tumors over a long time consumption.

FISH OIL is SNAKE OIL......FLEX seed is a Excellent source of Omaga 3.

  • my doctor told i would have to take niacin for the rest of my life, what do you say to that , will that damage the liver

  • Comment removed

  • YES U INSPIRE ME TO BECOME A MED STUDENT

  • Great information, and down to earth presentation of the research!!

  • there was a recent post "How safe are fish oil pills ? PCB concerns"

So doesn't matter how good it is... it matters about the high risk it has.

  • Yes, but you can get a pharmaceutical form of fish oil that removes the PCBs and mercury.

  • It's good for you, but at the same time 3/10 Omage-3 contains PCB that links to cancer. Look it up

  • Your right. But Omega 6 naturally encourages growth of tumours and omega 3 discourages their growth. So omega 3 via flax or better fish ir well worth it. Buy a supplement that is tested for PCB, has them removed. Not that more expensive. Well worth it. Purchase grass fed meat, eat greens, walnuts, flax with it in too..

  • Take omega 3 for a happy health fish time.

  • Great info. Another follow up would be great on Omega 6. Balancing these is suppose to be important, but should Omega 6 be avoided all together?

  • YEAH, STOP EATING ALL FOOD.

  • good call

  • That would do me good at the moment, with gastritis, good advice. Water is allowed I hope?

  • please check ur inbox sent u a message

  • There really is nothing to lose except maybe 10 bucks :D after taking fish-oil my mind feels way more clearer and my heart palpitations stopped. But don't take too much and use as directed.

  • which product exactly do you use? i am looking into buying

  • so are all fish oil considered good? i just bought a sundown natural fish oil that is 1000mg, but when i look at the label only 300 mg are EPA and DHA which are forms of omega 3s which leaves me to wonder what the other 700mg are. are there supplement where there are only pure omega 3s? if so does any1 know where to buy them

  • Very informative. Do you have any preferences which fish oil (omega 3)? Cod liver oil or regular fish oil? I like Carlson, both cod liver and regular fish oil. The lemon taste with Carlson cod liver oil is awesome.

  • you're cute! i'm glad you're studying this stuff. fish oil changed my life! I'm a college student and had lots of trouble with brain fog, poor short term memory and depression. when I took fish oil, all those problems were greatly reduced and pretty much eliminated.

lets face it, as much as modern medicine would like to deny it, food is medicine! and this is why europeans have traditionally supplemented with fish oil EVERY DAY!

  • @emeraldmorn

as much as modern medicine likes to deny it, food is medicine! true

thats why i follow traditional chinese medicine..natrual remedies and cures to simple problems without the harsh modern western medicines that destroys the body .

the chinese believe that food is medicine , thats why they eat lots of different things. herbs . plants, animals, weird things.

  • @ohnoyoudidntx yah chinese medicine is awesome! my husband is going to school to become an accupuncturist and have his masters in oriental medicine. some great books on the subject have been written by Daniel Reid.

  • @emeraldmorn what brand of omega 3 supplement do you take? I want to try it. thanks

  • @escapeout I have taken Garden of Life Cod Liver Oil in the past. It has been minimally processed and so still maintains it's naturally occuring vitamin D.

Now I take Green Pasture Fermented Cod Liver Oil which is a little more expensive and less tasty but much more potent.

I recommend the Garden of Life brand as a great, high quality, fish oil for new users. :) Their lemon mint flavor is quite pleasant.

  • @emeraldmorn Thanks I really appreciate it, :-)

  • I play chess (as a professional) and I want to improve my memory. what should i do?

Any Vitamins, food, exercises? please reply, i'll appriciate that!

    Thanks.

  • chess players are mostly fat, so exercise is crucial TO BE A BETTER CHESS PLAYER

    trust me i play chess

  • @truegwbfan

So you're saying that i should be doing exercises such as push-ups and stuff?

  • yes, push ups, mountain climbers, sit ups, squats, leg lifts, and flutter kicks. do a warm up and stretch. i do it before i study and i feel great! i used to do it before i went to work but i cant get up at 0400 anyamore

  • o i forgot to say run 3 times a week

  • @truegwbfan

thank you very much. but you said that "chess players are mostly fat". did you mean the good chess players or the bad? because if you meant the good chess players, then i wanna be fat like them. hehe

  • I'm a living witness Omega-3 works I take (2) 1200 mg's daily, so in all 2400 mgs. I noticed my skin started glowing kinda pretty, and my the texture of my hair seems softer. It's helps maintain weight too ♥

  • Try Now Foods' omega 3 fish oil from iherb. Use coupon code YAN312 to receive $5 off your order. :)

  • thanks for a great video!

  • i use fish oil to make egg in the morning

  • Smart med student----hope he'll be a great doctor-----thinking laterally in medicine is not common----it should be

  • there is a great book called the beneficial effects of fish oil on the human brain by akhlag A. Farooqui, ISBN 1441905421

  • Better than taking pain killers. Fish oil deals with the cause, and empowers peoples lives. I wish hospitals and doctors would teach patients how to look after themselves, take responsibility for themselves, thru good supplementation, good diet. Doctors sometimes seem to be sopprting pharmaceutical companys, pushing drugs if they are not careful. When INTELLIGENT doctors, young are capable of being taught alot more about nutrition, when the drugs are not working (too toxic!)

  • Reasons because fish oil seems a cure all is because the animals we eat are grain fed (high in omega 6), farmed fish are fed on high omega 6, we cook with MEGA high omega 6 vegetable oils (we shouldn't!) olive oil OK, (monounsaturated, not high in omega 6). Brain is 60% fat, high in fish oil (EPA, DHA fats) so is the eyes!

We want to counteract our high cancer causing, inflammatory causing omega 6 diet with fish oils!

  • Dude- You're very cool. Good information, and you're easy to watch too. I've gone over a couple of your videos now. Thanks for sharing the info on vitamin D and Omega 3s. I knew some of it, the the reinforcement's great. Thanks again,

    TLHMax

  • I took Omegabrite's fish oil from August 2008 - Summer 2009. It HURT my eyes especially my right eye or the area beneath it, plus it used to make my eye lids really twitchy. On the plus side I hadn't exercised since 2006 but when I start exercising in June 2009 my performance was really good (easily reached 180 HBM)

  • The omega-3 fish oil hurt my eyes, too! I thought it was all in my head, but when I stopped taking the fish oil, the pain went away. What causes it?

I have chronic dry eye no thanks to damage caused by the acne medication Accutane. The fish oil did make my eyes moist again, but the pain was excruciating for me to accept. I'd rather live with dry eyes for the rest of my life than to deal with the pain from fish oil.

  • It maybe altering the fluid level in your eye. eyes contain saturated fat and DHA (fish oil fat). Why not try eating some wild alaskan salmon. Can get it from supermarket (frozen). Mackerel is good. I also know that magnesium maybe used more to utiliise fish oil. Magnesium citrate supplement may help. Green vegetables, meat provide magnesium. Magnesium alters fluid in eye, interacts with sodium.

  • @Catherine8here

Thank you for your suggestions, you are very kind! I will follow your advice. ^__^

  • Magnesium citrate

    Lamberts do a 150mg.

Take care you do not overdose with magnesium, because of its laxative effect, LOL! There is a book called the magnesium miracle on amazon, if you want to read up on magnesium.

Your eye pain maybe related to water build up or/and contraction occuring after looking at light, i.e. eye doesn't re-focus.

Pharmaceutical grqde fish oil like Pharma Nord is about £11.95 for 160.

    Check it on amazon (UK)

    ASIN: B000GY77S8

  • This website shows the amounts of vitamins/minerals/fatty acids in alaskan wild salmon (contains no manmade antibiotics/hormones like meat/farmed fish do).

Do not cook with vegetable oils (Corn, rape, sunflower, vegetable), because they soon go rancid (lid off, oxygen gets in) and they are very unstable to heat, being polyunsaturated fats, they have many double bonds in their structure, which are highly reactive. Use olive oil when cooking, or goose fat.

  • Check out Nutritional data . c om) w ebsite

  • I started using fish oil out of concerns stemming from diabetes and family heart disease. I have felt healthy for a few years now. My blood sugar is now normal. After taking fish oil for a while, I began feeling more focused, stopped suffering from depression, socialized better, and imroved my reading skills. Dr. andrew Stole of harvard pioneered most discoveries. He produces a oil called omega brite. I also take natures bouny which has a very different EPA:DHA ratio than "omega brite".

  • As I previously commented, I've been taking taking pharmaceutical grade fish oil and flax seed oil daily for almost two years. Another amazing thing has happened. I've had very bad receeding gums for years, which would bleed a lot during twice a year cleanings despite my brushing well four times a day. At my last two cleanings (one today actually,) my gums are very healthy and pink. My dentist is floored by this because the only thing I have changed is that I take the fish oil and flax oil gels.

  • I have been taking a Pharmaceutical grade fish oil, it promises it will not be contaminated with mercury like some fish oils are! Fish oil helps decrease insulin resistance and removes or exchanges place in cell membrane with the saturated fats that do cause insulin resistance... i.e. palmirtic acid, myrisitic acid. Some saturated fat is good to help use omega 3 well, but they do compete to some extent. Saturated fats in excess cause depression, insulin resistance and the opposite to fish oil!

  • I broke my shoulder in late 2007, and my joints went crazy with inflamation - my hands, fingers, knees, etc. I could not pick up a coffee pot or hang up a sweater without pain in my joints. I started taking pharmaceutical grade fish oil, glucosamine chondroiten, and flax seed oil daily. After almost two years of this my joints are doing great! I still have nerve damage down the right arm after the broken shoulder, but my joints are absolutely wonderful. I would never have believed it.

  • Thanks man! :)

  • Thank you kind sir, your knowledge is helpful to those willing to listen.

  • I think this was the BBC documentary that I saw recently:

    watch?v=heQHwBaan6Y&NR=1

  • Just to say... you look great.

There is a schizophrenic woman in my apt. block that has been pounding on the doors of other tenants.

A few weeks ago I saw a BBC documentary about Omega-3 EFAs.

The woman in my block I heard has not been taking her prescription pills. But if I see her again I will buy her dinner at the neighbourrhood Subway and choose a tuna or seafood sub sandwich.

    Also I have type 2 diabetes and I'm on 4 * 500 mg's of Metformin / day.

If I eat more fish, I plan to cure it.

  • Sorry, just one more question. Have you found anything in your research that says anything about fishoils helping with acne or hairloss?

  • Any type of unsaturated fat helps with skin complexion. Especially olive oil. Any POLYunsaturated and/or MONOunsaturated fats will do.

  • Great Video! Do you have any suggestions on which brand of supplements? My buddy is a Chiropractor and I get Metagenics from him. I Hear that most vitamins and fish oils from stores like walgreens and GNC are not as good. Thanks

  • Any brand is good. Try Now Foods, Nature Made, or nordic something (I forgot the full brand name but you can search for it on iherb (dot) com Just take at least 1,000 mg per day.

  • Apparently, the microphone you use to record this video will use some Omega3 lubricants as well. The noise is unbearable.

  • lol

  • I have many friends in their 60;s who have a huge sexual appetite like i do in my thirties and are very vital and active. Although i do believe genetics play a large role, i cannot ignore the fact they ate fish their entire lives, quite regularly. They are not so health conscious but do eat natural and take out is a rarity. Its enough to convince me to take large quantities daily along with2 G of vitamin C, another vitamin much overlooked. Thanks for the post.

  • Hi: I got a big cuestion, I have depression and the medicine that I have 2 buy it are call Cymbalta. So I would like 2 try something natural and plus the medicine cost me like 260 dollars a mont. I think they are fu.cken expensive. So do u think that the Omega 3 can help me with this and which one u recomend?? Thank u so much, and good videos!!

  • Hi: I got a big cuestion, I have depression and the medicine that I have 2 buy it are call Cymbalta. So I would like 2 try something natural and plus the medicine cost me like 260 dollars a mont. • i only have blackheads but they annoy me, so can fish oil get rid of blackheads as well?

  • Yes, fish oil will prevent the inflammation

  • Hi: There are alot of people who didn't believe in fish oil. They even post videos in youtube that what you have said here is not true. They also have proved researches about fish oil is NOT doing any good to your heart and brain and even harm those organs. And they even show us "scientific proof" that omega 3 fatty acid wouldn't do a good to inflammatory. Can you make some comments on those?

  • lauls85: Omega 3 fish oil needs to be a good quality. I suspect many people are taking rancid omega 3 fish oils. THAT is why we have studies showing no effect or harm.

  • Comment removed

  • Hi Thank you for your response. I have taking Nordic Naturals and Carlson brands of fish oil. What do you think about both brands? Which fish oil are you taking?

  • @ lauls85: I know that Carlson is top of the line. I am not familiar with Nordic. My opinion is that life extension brand is the best for only one reason: sesame lignans. Sesame Lignans prevent oxidation in the bottle and the body.

  • Rule of thumb: if the capsule or liquid smells fishy, its probably low quality and harmful.

  • Hi I also asked a cardiologist about intake of Omega 3. He told me omega 3 didn't do much of the benefits that you mentioned in this video. He even warned me to beware of Omega 3 because it may lower your HDL. I don't believed what he told me is truth because I also do some research on omega 3, and most of them were saying omega 3 is good for our bodies especially heart and brain. I don't know why did that doctor goes against omega 3 but do you have any comments or suggestions about it? Thanks

  • laul85: Your doctor is ill informed. What is bad is BAD omega 3. Costco omega 3? STAY AWAY. This is the problem. Good quality Omega 3 is never cheap.

  • A single gel cap pill of GNC fish oil contains 300mg of omega-3 fatty acids. I read a New York Times article that recommended 500mg per day for optimal results. I'm hesitant to take more than one 300mg pill per day because it might cause me to reek of fish.

  • thank you

  • i heard that fish oil helps clear your skin of pimples too... is that true?

  • Yes, I tried and my skin is very soft and clear than a babys. I take Eskimo OMega3.

  • hey man thanxs for making this video bout this because i have crohn's and my doctor told me bout it but didnt understand that much you made it sound more clear then them .... god bless and keep doing what your doing because you going to graet things

  • Well done.

  • I agree on the comment re: Ulcerative Colitis, as this was one of the supplements I took during my "healing" that helped to rebalance my digestive tract. The body takes whatever oil is available to it (most often oils used in fast-food, which aren't healthy) in order to coat cells. From my naturopath's description, a coating made of Omega-3 oils allow cells to breathe and "communicate" between each other, whereas a coating made from "fast food" oils seals up the cell tight, leading to disease.

  • I started taking these when I got pregnant with my daughter! I heard it helps a part of there brain develop properly. I still take them.

  • Hi: Do you know which one is more important to have in fish oil, EPA or DHA? Because I have seen fish oil that have more content in one or the other acid. I know DHA is good for the brain, how about EPA?

  • I already have had some liver problems (fatty liver disease) & could not take something like Lipitor which has liver side effects. Sterolyn has done a wonderful job at lowering my LDL (down to 140 from 220 already!) without causing liver damage.

  • thanks for your input

  • i hope you keep this in mind when you become a doctor

  • This is interesting.

I'm a vegetarian. I take flaxseed oil tablets and also get omega 3s from excellent sources such as walnuts, olive oil and soy oil.

Flaxseed oil contains ALA which is essential and enables our brains to make all other omega 3s, rather than fish oil which only contains EPA and DHA.

Fish is most often highly contaminated (mercury, cadmium etc.), so we shouldn't have more than 2 servings a week.

For these reasons, I think flaxseed oil is a better supplement than fish oil.

  • Hi: Do you have any recommendation on which brand of fish oil to get? Do you know if salmon oil is a better oil to take?

  • ty i really like this video

  • omg now i know why i dont have asma anymore!!

  • darma initiative anyone???haha

    god information.thanks

  • Hi, I have a question .. How much Milligrams and how often should I take a fish oil pill ? I know there's many different types of milligram bottles, and they also depend on how many times you take it a day, but how is it different from other amounts?

  • Fish oil: You should take 300mg a day altogether of DHA and EPA, it often says on the bottle how much of each. Like, it could have 180mg of DHA and 120 of EPA in each tablet and altogether that would add up to 300mg.

Flaxseed oil: You should also get enough ALA, the recommended amount is 1100mg a day.

Both of these amounts are relative to your health, like if you have congenital heart failure you should consult a professional before taking fish oil supplements.

  • Wha? i have fish oil and it says

fishoil- 1200mgs EPA DHA Total omega 3 fatty acids 360 mgs

    What exactly does that mean?

  • That means there's 360mg of EPA and DHA in the 1200mg of fish oil.

  • If one didn't mind the taste of oil then I would prefer oil over capsule. Oil has more content of EPA and DHA than a capsule, in general.

  • Capsules are expensive as well, but I don't know what food fish oil goes well with.

  • You can find a 2 bottle set at wal mart for about 10 bucks. Fish oil is not expensive. Now.....FOOD derived omega 3's are expensive, and you don't get as many mg as you do when you buy fish oil.

  • Hmm, pharmaceutical grade fish oil is the kind to buy. Generic fish oil can contain high levels of mercury I believe I read somewhere...

  • In order to get toxic amounts of mercury, you have to have more than like, 5 grams daily. I take 2 grams daily and haven't had adverse reactions. I've read that of all the marketed fish oils that you can buy, NONE of them had tracable amounts of mercury. I mean, extensive things are done to make sure that stuff does not get sold. I'm pretty sure you're safe.

  • Excellent information!

  • go back to your idiot box then and get off of you tube then if you don't like it.

  • Just beacuse he posses intellegent that you lack, make him a nerd? Well this nerd is going to pass the biology class , and you wont.

  • good video buddy!

i dont eat fish as much as i should but when i play hockey which is huge amount of exercise on my body i crave fish after, just goes to show my body wants the best food. Also wanted to help you in this subject sharks cartilage is claimed to combat and/or prevent a variety of illnesses, most notably cancer.

  • It's probably the protein and fat in fish, along with other essential nutrients that makes you crave fish after a lot of exercise.

From what I've read, you shouldn't have more than 2 servings a week because of the heavy metal contamination present in many fish (blame pollution) but otherwise it is very good for you.

  • i take it all the time! makes me smart and my brain works quicker

  • this is a wonderful video. i like your enthusiasm and appreciate your constant referencing of others research. was wondering which product has been most recommended as being pure and having high quality oil, in the year + since you've posted this...

  • This is a good video about omega-3. I have been taking a little known omega-5. It is a stronger anti-inflamatory and has helped me with my carpel tunnel and psyatica. I have no more symptoms and inflamation. It is marketed under the name Alphflex and can be purchased on the internet. I can only recomend people to stop taking glucosamine it is junk in my opinion and switch. This product has been awesome for me. It has improved my stamina and flexibility. I feel great. No more pain. Try it

  • however, I hear

it can also gives you a bad case of acne.

  • BRAVO and thank you for your effort for recording this video. Good that you mention the toxins. There are tons of products out there that use large fish and even from fish breeding. These are more subject to toxins like mercury. I am using Omega-3 from sardine skin and krill and must say it really helps to stay healthy. Please send me the link to the paper you hold in the video, THANKS! rgds from Switzerland Daniel Staeger
