@2006evoIX I pretty doubt he'd have his hands anywhere else than in a high guard while doing this. He's kind of right saying bent over is a bad place to be though. You've got little control over your balance and almost no means to counterattack effectively unless the other guy makes a mistake.

At the same time if you break your clinch to elbow like you said, you're often open for a short hook, and he's going to be getting his balance from your clinch, likely making it a very powerfull strike.

Well... In submission wrestling we just lean our head forward so you look down on the ground and use your hand to push your opponets hand away from your neck.

But I think a muay-thai clinch is different

you have to drive your hands up through between her elbows for at least one whizzer grip, if you do both hands then youll almost certainly break the clinch but you risk giving away double underhooks, but hey, if your opponent is strong enough to suplex you from double underhooks and long enough to clinch and knee you, well you got problems. personally id rather get the suplex then the knee to the face.

You are exactly right. But having your posture straight allows you to head butt you opponent also. It also allows the person in the clinch to avoid devastating knees and possibly counter with uppercuts and over head punches. But good point.

Then send in some elbows to their jaw. thats the best defence for a clinch. Elbows allways work, hoever I have never been clinched properly. I have used it myself to take out taller people.

The reason you stand up is you will notice he is closer to her and she has less control and power over him. There is less distance for the knee to travel, the idea is that you get in close, body to body, that way they cannot throw in a knee to you, this is why you see in Thai fights it looks like they are hugging each other and they then are left to only being able to throw side knees which have alot less power than a straight knee. A knee to your face would get a knockout
