The positive about deathstreaks is that it sort of keeps people from ragequitting and makes the game less stressful for them.

It's just the mentality that, "Hey, I'm playing like absolute crap/getting owned by spawn trappers and killstreaks, dying 4/5/6 times in a row, but at least I have this nifty cushion to get me a comeback or two," works.
