@boarder551 Run faster. And turn your board so that you face forward - slipping. Sideways+forward momentum+(board width<board length)+slight rocker = less friction occurs between the water and the surface of your board.

But mostly run faster.

@TwistaX1 when i first started skimming i had a fiber glass board, it was pretty windy out. Board flew up as i was dropping it, i was running and it went right into my shin. I then had to go get my shin stapled shut. But no matter what kind of board you get skimming will give its bumps and scrapes.

@TwistaX1 Hi im responding about your fiberglass skimboard u may be buying: Depending on the strength of the wind it is possible for it to blow away under your feet, altho this should rarely happen when on water as the water should help grip it enough to let you ride but now blow away, then again you must know there is a higher chance that it will blow away if its fiber material but as long as you have good control and balance you should be fine, hope that helped :)

surfing is easier to learn than skimboarding. they are both fun but i skim a lot cause it is way more unique and every wave is somthing diffrent. you can find so many diffrent breaks in skimming and it is really just the adrinaline that makes it more fun.

He doesn't suck too much to do those tricks and skimboard / ride those waves on that skimboard, Wow! More than i can do. I haven't learned real well to ride a skimboard yet. I bought a cheap 5 dollar one at Myrtle Beach 2 or 3 years back. It's alright for what it is, but that guy in the video was no doubt, using a more professional-made skimboard. Not an 'el-cheap-o made one like i have. lol I'd definately like to get a skimboard like this guy has & practice it over & over 'til i get it down.
