  • What beautiful music. this song is a nostalgic song, I think the singers they felt that the United States is changing society and with it the feelings that you have ever had the United States ... the past will never come back so we can only look to the future with optinismo.

  • I was born after this song was out, but I'm old enough to remember having a 45rpm record of it that used to belong to my sisters... even as a kid in the 80's I likes stuff from the 70's. There is just something "real" about this kind of music. (And even as a kid, the paradox of such an upbeat song being so sad in the lyrics intrigued me.)

  • It still is (to me anyways)...

  • this was number one the day i was born

  • nice song..

  • Anyone hear nirvana cover it? They did a great job

  • I don't think it's really that hard to die no matter what season it is.

  • love the poppy family

  • unbelievable horse manue

  • This will be my last song I will listen to when the time is right.

  • I remember being a little boy when I first hear this and was so in love with my friend, 'willy' because it had my name on it. I had a little 45 record of it and would sit in my room for hours seeing what would fit in the middle of the little 45 record, over and over.

  • @Sincopare What???? LOL!

  • I believe he runs a pub in Majorca

Next time I go to Majorca I hope to be able to meet him

I was wondering if he would pay the bill for the handkercchiefs I have used over the years with this song

Yes and say Thanks for one of the best songs ever written

  • This is fantastic! It makes me cry, but the music relaxes my mind. Idk why, I'm 14 and I listen to it as an awakening when everything starts to seem bad. :j

  • Those old times. That sad song. Even I was born in 1977. I like the oldies but goodies songs.

  • @MORGANNAW8974

I think you will find it was 1974

I met my one and only true love in 1974

  • This is the great song ever,I'm just 10 but I like this song, visit my video

  • this was no.1 when I was born.... missed Waterloo by ABBA by a few days.... GUTTED, cos this song is gash.

  • This is the worst song ever. I was tortured by it as a child. They played it over and over on the radio. It has no musical merits, and the lyrics make you want to kill yourself, if only to get away from the song.

  • lol his hair :x

  • @randytube4 All the time.

  • @MyAccount4TrollingU You know what your grandmas bush looks like??? Pervert haha

  • Great - In the same universe as Windmills of your mind?

  • Nothing compared to Jacques Brel's, both lyric and singing wise.

  • A brilliant song. How can anyone dislike this. They must be pretty heartless not to understand it.

  • love u!!!

  • goes out to all the people in my life that i miss everyday

you are thought of and missed everyday

  • ufff first time seeing the video, what a disappointment...

I listened to this song at least 16 years ago for the first time and now finally saw the video to it. hah At least the song is still good.

  • BİZ HEP BERABERDİK ... HEP...

  • My brother although in heaven, wanted to tell you again I LOVE YOU !

  • Thumbs up!

  • Yes time does fly on by. I heard this song I think in the mid70s and liked it and still do to this day.

  • Although I wasn't born by the time this song was made, I have learned to appreciate the songs from the 70's. A time when music had a meaning.

  • @Torogoz6 songs today have meaning, its just the meanings are a little diffrent.

  • Although I wasn't born by the time this song was made, I have learned to appreciate the songs from the 70's. A time when music had a meaning.

  • Thumbs up when you came here by "Seakings in the sun"

  • An unforgettable song. Pure classic. After so many years it still touches me with its sweet/sorrowful beauty...

  • @avidbookreader I was in grade school when this came out but remember it very well and still love it in 2011.

  • @scrowfan41 It's been a long time but if I recall correctly, I first heard this song in the early 80s, when I was in my early teen. Maybe from one of my parents' vinyls, maybe from some radio station, I really can't remember how I heard it in the first place. All I can remember is I loved it so much that I couldn't stop listening to it, even though back then I could only understand very few English words. Time flies, some memories fade, some will always remain.:)

(Yes I still love it, too.:)

  • oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • Sooo many memories. I was 16 living in Tehran , Iran. Yes you may be surprise, Iran was like any western country. This song was number one for weeks.

  • put the bone in b side

  • How sad...and what memories...of a simpler time...

  • Very Nice Song

  • i remember when i was 15

  • absolutely love it!!!! so many memories

  • I remember being a little girl when I first heard this and was so in love with it because it had my name in it. I had the little 45 record of it and would sit in my room for hours listening to this over and over.

  • tyudsummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmrfffffffffff

  • I miss you Colin, you chose this song to played at your funeral, yes we had so much fun when we were little, and I forgive that you teased me without mercy, I wish so much I could pick up the phone and hear you talking to me once more.

  • Kurt Cobain tocaba este tema :)

  • Before I Die

I Would Like To Sing This To the World...

  • i love son

  • Don't get me wrong, this is a good song, but I didn't think it was worthy of being number 1 for 3 weeks in 1974. Just saying.

  • the intro is always spooky....

  • Peter Brady Can Rock The Mic!!!

  • fluffy!

  • Use to listen to this often, Proud to be a part of that generation.

  • i must agree with @linkrunner2, he is the one dying and saying goodbye to all he loves

  • @abineezerskeezer That's always been my interpretation as well

  • always thought this was about his dog???

  • My daddy named me after this song!

  • @MingChelle - Your name is 'Seasons in The Sun'? The bullies must tear you a new one.

  • @PieceofMindmusic no shes talking about Michelle. wow just listen to the song and ull figure out wht its all about. the part tht says, "the stars we could reach, were just starfish on the beach" he meant tht shes in heaven now and can reach all of the stars

  • @linkrunner2 -far out mann, that's heavy.

  • bummer.........

  • last november during the morning 2 people came into my house thepushed me down the steps broke my chin and cheekbone they stabbed me over @over with across thenstuck a church steeple ornament in my face, on the way to hos, they said i died 3 times, when it happened i saw evil things it was hell the man that did iti knew, his wife was with him, when she was done she stuck a knife in me then said die, moral is don't date married men, he is free i am scarred for life.raine

  • song is letter to family and friends from a death row inmate about to be put to death

  • @johnhunt70 I don't think it's about a deathrow inmate. It is about a man about to die but he's not incarcerated.

  • @DanBlabbers Its actually a reworking (but not a translation ) of Jacques Brel's song "Le Moribond" but with a rather different feel to it. The original enjoins those the singer leaves behind to laugh and dance and have a good time while making acerbic comments about some of them. Not at all maudlin and sentimental like this version. .

  • @rousler62 its about a girl that died and hes singing about the fun they had together.

  • @linkrunner2 It's the singer who's about to die and he's saying goodbye to his loved ones, as, in a slightly different way, does Brel.

  • Maybe when you face a situation where you face death this song may be understandable to you. Sadly you who think life goes on forever shall someday find the folly in that way of thinking! Love those who are with you now, for we can all be called away so quickly!

  • Great tune!

  • Such a depressing song...I remember this one from the '70's. I'd feel so down every time I heard it. Still can't really listen to it. Pretty song though in it's own heartfelt way. I always thought it strange though that a song this sad became such a hit and was on all the radio stations all the time .

  • When I first heard this song, I thought it was the the singer was dying , so he wrote this

  • Yes, best song - will have this on a friends funeral tomorrow... lots of memories ... from schoolyard 1974.

  • It is sad and happy,it melts me...

  • this was a vietnam war protest song about young soldiers dying young

  • @splicer01 --No, this is a re-make of a song that a french man wrote. As this song was released, that composer/writer stopped working. Later he died of cancer. This version has a verse added by Terry Jack and he changed the chorus chords to be more happy. (Found that info on some other website earlier when I was trying to find the version I first heard.)

  • this was a vietnam war protest song

  • @splicer01 Are you sure. This is not even the original version.

  • This is the best song of all time .love it..

  • This song always made me cry and a child. I was moving away from all my friends and thinking of not seeing them again and then listening to this song. Did me in. I was done. Great song for pulling on the heart string. I no longer listen to this because I like the season have moved on to be more positive. I allow no negative thought or people in my life!!!!
