When you got the Dazzle, did you load the drivers onto your computer or download them? Plus, do you have AV Splitters hooked up and all the cables hooked up properly?

Download Pinnacle Studio 15, I've got a key to activate it. Once that's downloaded, message me through the Youtube messaging system and get Skype, I'll run ya through it.
Any video editing software will do to crop the video so it gets rid of the lines, I just prefer to use Sony Vegas Pro 10 because it's built right in as soon as you drag your clips into the timeline. And referring to your "black line thing": I've had that issue so many times, it's not even funny haha. I would have to go through and remove a portion of the video so the video wasn't tearing. Hope this helps ya :D.

By save it, what do you mean? When I used Pinnacle Instant DVD Recorder, I could save the files but if I wanted to do any post work to it before I uploaded it, I had to convert it from the .vob file that you get to either .avi or .wmv.

I have to stretch it in Sony Vegas Pro 11 to get it 16:9. There is a way to change it in the settings of Pinnacle Studio which is what I use[d] to capture Dazzle footage, but I can't remember how you can get it to stay at 16:9 without it having discernible after effects to it.

AMCapture is something I would not use. When you say downloaded Pinnacle, do you mean that you downloaded Pinnacle Studio? If that's not the case, go download the trial and I can further help you if you have any other issues.
I have a Dazzle DVC100 and I use it to record my PS3 in HD. But I want a LOUDER video, and I want a video where I could actually read the text. Do you know any settings?
Unfortunately, the DVC100 does not support HD as it uses the standard composite video cables. There are settings strewn across Youtube that can look similar to a PVR but it won't be the same because it involves oversaturating the video
Are your settings set properly for your TV's signal? If you are using a PAL TV, use PAL settings instead of NTSC. Same applies if you are using a NTSC TV set.
You can always use a camera in a similar fashion, but it's a bit more costly and things like that. I would say just get a capture card since you can find them pretty cheap now, if you want good quality though, you are going to spend about 200 for a PVR or a Black Magic Intensity Pro which is what I'm getting soon.

Yeah it is annoying but it was one of my first videos and is from 2 years ago. Let's just say I've made this somewhat of a more professional hobby now because I take time to plan out my videos and I don't eat whenever I record commentary X3.
Go download Pinnacle Studio 12 or 15 and the DVC100 drivers if you are certain that your model is a DVC100. Also, look into watching another tutorial about setup so you know what parts you need to set it up like AV Splitters, etc.

The DVC100 is in no way a great capture card for HD settings. If you want HD, I'd suggest a Black Magic Intensity Pro or HD PVR.
As for your issue, I'd suggest using Pinnacle Studio 15 because it doesn't do that, and then post-edit with Sony Vegas to stretch the video out to get rid of the line issue which is video tearing. If you need help, let me know.
If you're using Instant DVD Recorder, it's not processing speed. Instant DVD Recorder is meant for making DVDs and unfortunately is the stock program that comes with the DVC100. A fix is to just go download Pinnacle Studio 15 and use that.

What are using for capturing software wise? There is usually an option to turn it to Widescreen and if not, put it in your video editing software [Sony Vegas in my case] and just stretch it out to that aspect ratio.

Before you try hooking up your DVC100, always make sure that you are up to date on your latest drivers for your Dazzle and your software so that it will detect your device. i have a problem guys i've bought a dazzle dvc 100 and i installed it on my pc with windows 7 and when i try to record i get the message "A valid Input Signal has not been detected. Please check your cables" and i checked them several times and its all good. i got audio but i dont get video. plz help me O_o.
Switch to Pinnacle Studio, much better. What you are seeing seems to be video tears if I'm not mistaken. Are they at the bottom of the video and the top or throughout the whole video?
It's the software, at the time that I recorded this, this was the only thing I had and it isn't really fit for capturing video footage as opposed to making DVDs. I'll be doing another tutorial about the new one I use, which is far superior and is made by Pinnacle and Avid.
You should be getting a .vob file if you are using Instant DVD Recorder. That's partially the reason I stopped using IDR because of that, plus rendering and converting was horrendous. If I could make a suggestion, download Pinnacle Studio 12 or 15 and use that, no hassles with .vob files, records .avi files.
It's hard to really pinpoint the issue with that one.
Instant DVD Recorder is a very "basic" video recorder with the Dazzle and could be considered shovelware since it is more or less built for DVDs. My one and only answer to this is go download Pinnacle Studio [preferably the latest version] and set up your drivers through that program to avoid that issue. However, that creates video tearing at the bottom which can be fixed through editing.
Place it in the video editing software that you use [I use Vegas Pro 10] and detach the audio track from the video track and align it with the video. Not the best method but it sure as hell works :).
If you want to think of it like that then you are somewhat correct. The Dazzle takes the image that is displayed on your TV or whatever you may use and records what you are doing. Yes, it is primarily a picture, but it not only records the image that you are getting through the AV cables but it also makes it a video file.
@Fadedtodark technically, it doesnt make the video file. whatever you use to record it with ( any webcam recorder vegas, windows movie maker, movie pad) makes the file. all it does is save you from bying a converter cable from your tv to your computer.
Depending on the console I want to say. I know with the PS3, you can't because the HDMI is a separate setting. You might be able to with the Xbox. However, even with the HDMI cable, the Dazzle isn't capable of recording in HD. I would just save up and get a Blackmagic Intensity Pro PCI-E card or a PVR.

What are the specs on your computer? Secondly, have you tinkered around with the capture settings in the options menu? It might be because of the file being an MJPEG or something because I got that same issue and I fixed it by changing the quality to I think DV.

PAL is just your native TV signal, it changes throughout different countries so if you live in Europe, you would want to use PAL to record footage since your TV signal is PAL based, if your in America, then you use NTSC, etc etc.
Did the original footage lag before you converted it? If so, then it might be the fact that your computer can't handle recording within Instant DVD since it has ungodly high specifications to make it perfect.
my computer blue screens a few minutes after i press capture every time and the error is IRQL not less something something and i cant figure out the cause...all help is apreciated if i can't fix it by the time someone sees this
If the lines are at the bottom of the screen, you should use Vegas to crop it out and render the video then. As for the lines on the video, that's just interlacing (what I think it's called) and you can fix that by simply hooking up an S-Video cable or tinker with your settings is all I can think of right now.
That sounds like an issue with your computer's memory. The less you have, the more frequent the game audio will desync with the video, however, you can fix that issue with VirtualDUB or even Sony Vegas.

You should be getting a .vob file if you are using Instant DVD Recorder. That's partially the reason I stopped using IDR because of that, plus rendering and converting was horrendous. If I could make a suggestion, download Pinnacle Studio 12 or 15 and use that, no hassles with .vob files, records .avi files.

when I record it just goes to a black screen and sometimes goes green but the sound comes out how do i fix this??

It's hard to really pinpoint the issue with that one.
Instant DVD Recorder is a very "basic" video recorder with the Dazzle and could be considered shovelware since it is more or less built for DVDs. My one and only answer to this is go download Pinnacle Studio [preferably the latest version] and set up your drivers through that program to avoid that issue. However, that creates video tearing at the bottom which can be fixed through editing.

Post recording process.
Place it in the video editing software that you use [I use Vegas Pro 10] and detach the audio track from the video track and align it with the video. Not the best method but it sure as hell works :).

a dazzle doesnt record..... it transfers the picture onto the computer, then you record on the conmuter

If you want to think of it like that then you are somewhat correct. The Dazzle takes the image that is displayed on your TV or whatever you may use and records what you are doing. Yes, it is primarily a picture, but it not only records the image that you are getting through the AV cables but it also makes it a video file.

@Fadedtodark technically, it doesnt make the video file. whatever you use to record it with ( any webcam recorder vegas, windows movie maker, movie pad) makes the file. all it does is save you from bying a converter cable from your tv to your computer.

Depending on the console I want to say. I know with the PS3, you can't because the HDMI is a separate setting. You might be able to with the Xbox. However, even with the HDMI cable, the Dazzle isn't capable of recording in HD. I would just save up and get a Blackmagic Intensity Pro PCI-E card or a PVR.

For the Dazzle, change the aspect ratio to 16:9 and Sony Vegas to 16:9 [1280x720]
For Camtasia, just record fullscreen and do the same above for Sony Vegas.

I use[d] to use the Dazzle DVC100, I'm getting a PVR meaning that the DVC100's time is all but up for me and will be going to my brother. I use Pinnacle Studio 12 to record gameplay.

@Fadedtodark ok.. but i kno how to use it, ive used it perfectly before with windows movie maker, i got a new computer for christmas, thought it would be great. it turned out to be a mess. i cant download windows movie maker because theres no option to record when i download it. When i record with pinnacle studios 14 its quality is bad and the video is jumpy and skips.. and it irritates me i just downloaded instant dvd recorder. im gunna try it.

What are the specs on your computer? Secondly, have you tinkered around with the capture settings in the options menu? It might be because of the file being an MJPEG or something because I got that same issue and I fixed it by changing the quality to I think DV.

@Fadedtodark idk about computer specs. i got tofix the skipping issue with recording 12:9 charpness down and using i think mjpeg which is still shitty quality.. i used DV b4 and that was skipping so. i kno this is really stupid but thanks for trying

What file type is it? AVI? If it's an AVI file, I don't know if Movie Maker will accept it.

PAL is just your native TV signal, it changes throughout different countries so if you live in Europe, you would want to use PAL to record footage since your TV signal is PAL based, if your in America, then you use NTSC, etc etc.

Did the original footage lag before you converted it? If so, then it might be the fact that your computer can't handle recording within Instant DVD since it has ungodly high specifications to make it perfect.

my computer blue screens a few minutes after i press capture every time and the error is IRQL not less something something and i cant figure out the cause...all help is apreciated if i can't fix it by the time someone sees this

If the lines are at the bottom of the screen, you should use Vegas to crop it out and render the video then. As for the lines on the video, that's just interlacing (what I think it's called) and you can fix that by simply hooking up an S-Video cable or tinker with your settings is all I can think of right now.

That sounds like an issue with your computer's memory. The less you have, the more frequent the game audio will desync with the video, however, you can fix that issue with VirtualDUB or even Sony Vegas.
