To be clear, we have never claimed to have anyone in our company or on the video to be full blooded Cherokee or Saura. I said that our President’s 4x-great grandfather was full blooded Cherokee and I’m positive he’s not in the video. I understand that our President is not full blooded Cherokee, there is no misconception there. He just has pride in his heritage.
I just received the 20 lb package via UPS. Superb indeed. We cooked it after chopping it up with some glutinous rice balls in coconut milk (a traditional Philippine recipe). WOW ! I told my wife that this royal purple sweet potato is fit for a king ! She is quite impressed that now we are giving some of it as a gift to friends.
Very smart decision to grow purple sweet potatoes indeed ! Once you tasted this purple variety of sweet potatoes, the rest is second best. The price of this purple potatoes in Asian grocery stores is almost double per pound. How come the regular non-Asian grocery chain don't sell them ? By the way, you can sell the potato leaves like any other vegetables like kale, cabbage, etc. in Asian stores. I'm glad to know that the tobacco farmers are 'rescued' by this plant.

Pride in the saura indian that your ancestors loathed and killed off? You wouldn't have pride in those dark brown indians if they still lived among you. That I'm sure of. Besides that I love those purple sweet potatoes. They are delicious.
@johnsyoung I see you removed the comment so I guess you realized the error of your statement. NO one in that video was FULL-BLOODED Cherokee or Saura. Because those people when they were full-blooded and not mixed with Europeans DID NOT look anything like Europeans. But again I love the sweet-potato. Being an official member of the tribe, or living among them, and having Native American blood does NOT make you FULL-BLOODED. That is a widespread MISconception.
Yes it has been grown in many Asian countries for a long time, but it was illegal to bring it into the US until this farmer made the effort to get it approved. You still cannot bring the Purple sweet potato in from Asia or Hawaii. @weimlove64 The only way to grow this potato is through this farmer, illegally if you can smuggle it in, or the get it approved through the proper agencies.
@naturevshumans I would like to grow the purple sweet potato in my garden, but have not been able to locate a source. Do you know of a garden supply that sells the purple potato slips?

I wanted to buy some of the Purple Sweet Potato Butter on their web site but I don't see that available. I saw these products in Priddy's General Store in Danbury, NC. But at the time I was on a bicycle and had no way to take any products with me.
This is a wonderful tasting sweet potato for those of you who have not tried it. Try it for your own benefit and health for your family. You can purchase them at Whole Foods on Miller St. in Winston-Salem. The Sweet Potato Butter is absolutely delicious and so nutritional.
We call them Hawaiian or Okinawan purple sweet potatoes...I have a bunch of recipes for this delicious tater....!

I had the purple sweet potatoes in Hawai'i and they were very tasty.
It's nice to see someone get to to live their dream.
I feel bad for the tobacco farmers though - I wonder why not let them grow hemp and reduce our importing of oil?
