when i first listened to megadeth i didnt really like em that much. but just like cigarettes, i kept on trying it. eventually, MEGADETH IS THE FUCKING BEST BAND IN THE WORLD!! i had to get that out.
@DTPsadus I don't think he's the greatest singer either, but he's still one of my favorite singers, because his voice is so unique and very distinguishable. Even if a Megadeth song is playing that you've never heard before, once he starts singing, you KNOW it's Megadeth. I think the same concept applies to his guitar playing for sure...
Megadeth will always be more passionate and interesting than Metallica in my opinion. I just feel that Dave really connects with listener in a way Metallica doesn't. Sure, Master of Puppets was a great album and so was Ride the Lightning, but Peace Sells and Rust in Peace and Endgame and SFSGSW and KIMBABIG will always be better than any Metallica album.
In truth and no more comments about what he did or not iso Metallica. This is music is for listening enjoyment. If you go to comment on comment on the videos metallica metallica.
I fucking love this song to death. Amazing opening track on a classic Thrash masterpiece. I especially dig the section where the song transitions from Holy Wars to Punishment Due and we get that laid back, Bluesy style riff and lyrics that describe The Punisher. Fucking killer.
I especially love putting the Vinyl on the turntable and after a brief moment of static/scratch we get that opening riff. Gives me goosebumps almost every time.
@METALLICA4EVER1547 Peace Sells...But Whose Buying? is a pretty strong arguement actually. They are 1A and 1B for me but Peace Sells edges RIP out. RIP was more developed and technical but damnit Peace Sells was way more visceral and intellegent. And as someone also point out, RIP is somehwhat overproduced and has some overly cheesy moments lyrically on it that Peace Sells does not. Peace Sells was Dave and Megadeth at their meanest and most fierce. They were a deadly animal at the time.
I've been bitchin to my buds online all night, about the remasters. I have to say, I may actually like the remaster better on this particular track, tho all the other remastered tracks I've heard suck ass.
I had a dream, in which I went to a metallica concert, and there I saw on Rhythm/lead guitar Dave Mustaine, on bass guitar Cliff Burton, on drums Nicko Mcbrain, on Rhythm/ Lead guitar Glen Tipton and on vocals..... James Hetfield
gees hahahaha I woke up so happy that it was awesome and I know it'll never be true -.-
@vorskithunderben you know what, as of late, I actually started thinking that they are better than Metallica - although metallica was pretty good too in its Ride the Lightning, Master of Pupets, and AJFA heyday. At least Megadeth didn't become a bunch of sell-outs like Metallica did and stay true to their metal roots to this day
@murky223 No they didn't that is not selling out. Selling out is doing albums they don't want to do. Megadeth wanted to experiment. He called it Risk for a reason.
Selling out is producing albums people want to buy because of the record company wanting to make more money, it's less about the control of the musicians, and more of the people who sell it. Risk was not that type of album, albeit not one of their better ones it produced great songs like The Doctor's Calling, Crush 'Em, Time: The End, and so on.
@Ajchimek You're retarded. Metallica's the one that sold out. You could here a giant difference after the black album. Listen to Endgame and TH1RT3EN, then listen to Rust in Peace. You wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
@xXRogueFloppersXx No, I didn't mean that they're sell outs, in fact, I don't think anything of the sort. I agree that Metallica sold out, it's just that I don't really like one album by Megadeth, Risk. Megadeth's new albums are nearly just as good as their old masterpieces like Rust... or Peace..., but I simply don't like Risk. Metallica's new album is especially shitty compared to Megadeth's new album, TH1RT3EN. I never even thought that they could make a worser piece of shit than St. Anger!
@murky223 Going in a different musical direction IS NOT selling out dude. If you can notice, every single Megadeth album has a completely different overall sound and feel to it, than all the other albums. Being able to stay true to what you set out to do(Play Heavy Metal), and making every album sound different than the last, is an art-form. Dave Mustaine basically has that concept down to a science. If Dave didn't want to release Risk, than he wouldn't have. It's that simple...
@MultiBradleyW Well, he did mention in his biography that he sold out with Risk. He wanted a top album - a top single. He wanted to beat Metallica. So he kind of sold out....but I'm not saying anything bad about it. Risk has some great songs, and in all albums there's some great riffs and thrash roots.
@euhphil Maiden rules, Megadeth is the dookie, Metallica was awesome, but Slayer just effin suuuucks.. they are the least talented and skilled of the four...simple riffs no technicality, and a chessy(satanic gaylord crap) image
@Diesy09 Simple riffs and no technicality?1 Are you only familiar with Post Reign in Blood Slayer?! Hell Awaits, the album before they simplified their sound with RIB, featured a Slayer that was clearly headed in that direction before they decided to simplify everything with RIB. In fact, Hell Awaits might be not only Slayer's best album, but one of the best pre 1986 Thrash albums released.
Slayer absolutely does not suck and they belong as one of the Big 4.
@GoongalaGoongala "headed in that direction"? that's great but evidentally it was a short trip...slayer sucked then and they couldn't even think of keeping up with what the bands nowadays are doing...maiden and megadeth will always be able to hold there own, putting slayer in the same categiry is like putting godsmack in the same category as between the buried and me and protest the hero...slayer can take credit for spawning a genre of dumbed down hardcore crap, that's pretty much it
@Diesy09 And actually, those "cheesy lyrics" you refer to evolved over time and even though they used a lot of occult /Satanic imagry, a lot of it (especially after RIB on South of Heaven & Seasons in the Abyss) was actually used to talk about society and it's shortcomings/failures. It actually sounds like you haven't listen to a lot of Slayer and you're basing your opinion on what others who aren't familiar with their music say about the band.
@GoongalaGoongala No actually I'm basing my opinion on everything I've heard from Slayer, which would be all of it...seen them in concert many times(never heard slayer solo to the same song twice) that's because they couldn't play for crap and were just picking random notes as fast as they could, which isn't even that fast especially considering how sloppy they are, decent enough drummer, but that's about it
@GoongalaGoongala and no I don't think playing fast is simple/easy but just simply playing something that isn't very difficul or even well written for that matter, fast doesn't make it cool, mostly all i listen to is heavy tech stuff...slayer has never been a technical band...to me they've always kinda been a spoof that people have actually taken seriously for some reason
I will tell you the truth: Comparing Megadeth and Metallica is only worth the effort if it brings one to appreciating the individual nuances of both bands.
I actually prefer the remastered version. The snare has more power, the guitars are heavier, the vocals are clearer and the whole thing is just even more brutal. Either way, fucking awesome song! \m/
@DaTfReShBxNiKkA2 Don't forget Take No Prisoners. Maybe a dab of remixing to some of the other songs, I've noted a bit of change in Tornado of Souls, but really that's it.
P.S. And for the love of Jesus, please stop it with the Metallica Vs. Megadeth bullcrap. It's old, and it's been over and done with for a while, so please stop. Both bands are good, and it's possible for someone to like them at the same time.
@eyeflow9 I couldn't describe this album better. Megadeth did in one album what Metallica still wishes they could have accomplished almost 30 years ago. There is still no better metal record ever released than Rust in Peace!
Slayer's gonna play their entire Seasons in the Abyss album during American Carnage and Megadeth's playing their entire Rust in Peace album as well!!! :D and i'm going!

Instead of a Metal rebellion i propose a new plan.
1. Don't bash other metal artists, we must unite! We cant fight against pop music if we arent even together
2. Watch more and more metal videos to get it to the top of the youtube vid list
If you like this idea, thumbs it up JUST so people can see it, and also spread it around if you like this idea
Lets show that metal kicks ass!
Copy this text in every Metalvideo you watch and we´re getting the power!

2:26-4:36 is my favorite part. Love this song.
P.S. And for the love of Jesus, please stop it with the Metallica Vs. Megadeth bullcrap. It's old, and it's been over and done with for a while, so please stop. Both bands are good, and it's possible for someone to like them at the same time.

this album is an instruction manual on how to shit all over anything metallica ever did or ever will do.

@eyeflow9 lol indeed

@eyeflow9 I couldn't describe this album better. Megadeth did in one album what Metallica still wishes they could have accomplished almost 30 years ago. There is still no better metal record ever released than Rust in Peace!

Incredible track, on an incredible album. Way ahead of its time, Mustaine is brilliant, this album is a cornerstone of Metal.

@Brambletalon25 yes they are i like the drums better in the remasters imo.
macymayo 1 year ago
FUCK OFF ARGUING WHICH BAND IS BETTER!!!!!!! It's down to your own opinion or, like me, you like both bands pretty much the same.
My Preferences are:
Vocals: Dave Mustaine because James doesn't sound as good these days
Guitar, Drums and Bass: Doesn't really matter, depends on which album you listen to.
Best Metallica album: Ride the Lightning
Best 'Deth album: Rust in Peace
