@freddiecable Perhaps you did not notice the title, A Wild Dance From The Shoppe Region. As a first calass Shop I assure you it is not, repeat, not Trakiiska!
I agree with you: I love it and it is a very rich culture but it doesn't come across to me as Thracian.... It would need to display a Romanian feel to it but it doesn't. It is as Shop as you could possibly get. It's richness comes from the fact that it is influenced by mostly Bulgarian with a good influence of Macedonian and, sad to say, Serbian. The Shop region is by far one of the richest mix of Balkan influences but the fiery dynamic is definitely Bulgarian... Western Bulgarian.
amazing. I love this video and the beauty of Bulgaria, I hope to visit one day. I would love to wear some traditional clothing... I have so much respect for the language, history, people and culture. :)
Greetings from Sofia !
Hvala na te reci, Tsitsvara!
To be perfectly honest, I don't really care for the dancing but the music is amazing. Love the traditional folk music from Bulgaria and the surrounding area.
Pirot i Nis im pise na celo- Bugaria stara!
It doesn't include anything but BULGARIAN songs. A lot of our pop-folk songs are stolen from serbia, which i hate, but the traditional songs, the real bulgarian songs, are ONLY bulgarian. I don't know where do you come from, but i see that you are not familiar wit the folklore of the Bolkans. We have a folklore region called Macedonia and this is western Bulgaria, not FYROM(I won't comment that FYROM shold be part of BG). A bulgarian song is in the space, not serbian ot whatever
There is a very fine line between Serbian and Bulgarian folklore and the same can be said regarding borders and traditions. This shouldn't surprise anyone being that both nations are of the same vine, it's almost impossible that they be different or foriegn to one another. Regardless, the music and folklore of western and southern Bulgaria, eastern and southern Serbia is a beautiful element that relates all the peoples in that region.

It is certainly very nice to watch. But i'm sad to say that you Bulgarians have lost your proper folklore (just like the Russians and Irish). This is just a circus. Enough stylising! Bring back authentic and original dances which have real meaning and significance.
You compromise your lack of undersanding with personal attacks and prejudice. Wake up to yourself. I know original folklore when I see it, this is just razzle-dazzle.
Look you r noobody I don't care about your oppin ion. Just keep it for yourself. Live the traditional bulgarian folklore to the bulgarians. It is not our fault that you dont't have one.
Look, I don't know what razzle-dazzle means, and I don't wannt to know. But shut the fuck up, when you don't understand something!!! Bulgarian folklore is the richest in the world - over 70,000 folk songs!
How about YOU shut the fuck up, internet warrior. And whoever thinks i'm attacking Bulgarian folklore. I'm a supporter or original (izvorno), not stylised Balkan dancing. So how about you actually read what i wrote before you comment.
If you think you understand so much then provide a synopsis of this dance for me.
AleKs is right, I am a Bulgarian and a great fan of Bulgarian Folk Musik, but I love the tradtional one. Playing and dancing too fast is now fashion, people think that it is better, especially the young people (sorry!) but to me it is an ego musician trip. I hope that more Bulgarian musicians will realize their roots and slow down.
Remember "The Lord of the dance" show? I seriously doubt that irish people dance in the same way in the pubs. But it was beautiful and pleasure to watch (I've watched it twice in real and countless times on youtube).
Yes, this dance is stylized, but all the elements are very traditional. Of course nobody is dancing like this in real occasions, but the performance is beautiful.
And don't worry - we haven't lost our traditional dances.
