User/Owner tour mazda 3 2010 GS

I just bought a GX 2011 and had optional cruise control put in with audio controls on the steering wheel. At night the contols on the steering wheel, stereo and climate control are not lit up as a result I am always fumbling for them at night. Does anyone know if these should be lit up? Help?

What country is this, because mine looks somewhat different on some things, like the steering wheel controls. Or was this a very early model?

@Wanderer2266 Canada, yes it was one of the first models but I don't think they've changed it...this is the GS maybe you've purchased the GT which does have different button layout.

@voodoodan245 I have the American version S Sport, hatchback. I dont know what that equates to in Canada, but my Cruise Control is a lever slightly below the right side of the steering wheel and i have info screen controls on the right side where your cruise control is.

does it sound when you turn all the way right or left? and when the road is wet? Its normal. It kinda sounds like an airplane braking, kinda loud; but when you turn the wheel the other way the sound stops. Unless that's what Mazda have told me, that is normal.

actually i went to the dealer and had him checked it, he said that it's normal since the steering pump is separate on the Mazda , that's why i makes the noise , i heard it on many other models, and red about it on many forums .... well ,,the noise is not that loud ..i think my ears are just so sensitive than normal :P

That's a nice car a a really great review! Just a question, is it true that there is no trunk release latch inside the car?

@356Stealth The sedan has a remote trunk release lever on the floor next to the driver's seat. The hatchback can only be opened by pressing the electric release button on the outside of the car.

@bnazim the mazda 3 has assisted steering therefor when you turn the wheels you may hear a sound. If its a load noise then send it in for checkup! If it sounds while driving send it in also...What you could do is just go to the dealer real quick grab a salesman and ask them. Just to be sure!

@rgfdjspyda NOT with the keyless entry remote and the smartkey they provide, you need to install a remote starter which is another controller, here in canada it will cost you another 500 for it. I got it, just for the winter, but its a seperate system not with the mazda control...they can install it at the dealer or get it installed anywhere else for cheaper price

how do you turn on the car by yourself.. since it has keyless entry? like what buttons do you push on the key

@rgfdjspyda theres two keys...On the GT u get the smart key, on the other models its keyless entry, therefor you dont need to insert the key in the car door to open it, just hit the open lock button the the remote then insert the key into the ignition and ready to go! Is that what you meant?

@rickyguti It is the cruise control...I own the car, thank you...Listen...When your on a highway, your in 5th gear and your not changing that gear at all because your on a highway and if your trip will be long and your going in a straight line..cruise control FTW

I just took a long 5 hour trip and used it on the highway..Perfect, i knew i wouldnt go over the speed limit and my foot didnt get tired after so many hours..Like i said, its just an extra feature thats nice to have...Why do u disagree? im interested and in no way im mad lol

so far no complaints at all...Runs like a charm..Even up here in Canada at -30 Celsius...So far the ONLY thing that has happened was i got an engine check light, it was nothing major, the car's computer was recalled for an update, took it to mazda and 3 hours later perfect! Im glad you liked the video!

Nice car, I'm looking to get a GS hatch soon myself. I wanted a GT just for the heated side mirrors, but I don't need all that other stuff, can't afford it. How are the cloth seats and road noise?

Cloth seats are great, they do get some lint but its very easy to clean off. Not that big of a deal, very comfortable too! Road noise is minimum plus remember that mazda has the auto volume feature that boosts the volume on high speeds. As for the heated side mirrors the GS does have that. Its the heated seats that GS doesnt have an a few other minor stuff.

You could always buy the car and find a way to take the speed limiter off. Why would you want to go up to 240?

Also all cars with electronics running the engine and everything can be tooned by a regular computer with special software that my uncle knows how to get and he actually used it on his Baleno. So I'm guessing it shouldn't be a problem to turn the speed limiter off.

My uncle has gone 210 km/h with his suzuki baleno and he said it was alot of fun. The most I've bin with is 200 and it is pretty cool. And there is actually places where you could do that but even if you dont its nice to know that your car is actually able to do it.

Just a question- Is your GPS not disconnected to the power cord during this vid, or did you somehow wire it through the car?

my gps was running on battery power when i shot this video, the way i do it is connect the 12v power cord in the front witch i show in the video where you can see the gums, just connect it right there and the cable goes over my speedometer untill its fully charged ill just disconnect it, i usually just charge it at home so no wires in car.

It makes the alarm go off for 1:20mins you cant stop it untill the time runs out. Its basicly if from far you see someone trying to get in your car or lets say you get out of your car at night and someone suspicious approaches you then you hit the panic button and most likely scare the person away

Actually yo my mom, accidentally pressed that button and we were like panicking about how to turn it off and she again accidentally pressed the trunk open button which shut it down.

Also a quick question. We never tried this but it was a safety matter so i had to ask. When the car is stopped the front doors can still open when the door is locked. That is not possible when we are driving right?

Also awesome review. The only thing is the sun roof that we have...just for fun lol. Rated 5/5 :D

I would have to try that, yes the front doors do open even if the car is locked, only from the inside of course. But that would be a good test to try and see if you can while it is moving. Another thing i noticed was that when you turn off the car it opens the doors but if you open either the driver or passenger door before turning the key the back doors wont open. Try it out and let me know!

I've noticed that the doors automatically locks when the speed is above 10km/h. So I'm guessing it wont open when we driving above 10km/h.

Also what you say is true. When the key is in the ignition and the front door is opened, the others remain locked.

Yes, actually its too seperate bluetooth receivers, the phone is paired through the wheel controls and the music bluetooth is paired through the sound system. Yes you can have both at once. You cant pair 2 cellphones or 2 mp3 players though just one of each

it was about 22k with taxes in canadian dollar, so a bit less in US dollar. I got mine on a lease and gave a pretty good amount of money for down payment. Also, if anyone is considering getting any car including this one, go to the dealer and DEAL with them, they arent selling much cars these days so you can deal free stuff like me, i got winter tires, lowered the price, but you can get more stuff!
