I can't believe they used to show us things like this when we were so young, the smoldering corpse and everything. i remember the whole thing being about 15 minutes long, it would be good to see the whole thing just so I can prove to people this video existed and they used to show it to us in school.
I remember there was a lot of these same 'electricity kills' public safety announcements, played with that harrowing heartbeat sound in the background. Remember they used this scene from the video as a PSA too. That was before I got to watch the vid in it's entirety at school.
Lol needless to say these PSAs used to scare me witless at the age of 6. Rightly so.
OMG OMG OMG! THANK-YOU SO FUCKING MUCH FOR THIS! I've been looking for this one for YEARS now. I know the full thing is about 10-15 mins long, it's NOT just the PSA/tv ad lasting 1 min....
This is even scarier and more graphic than little Jimmy. But a pretty realistic portrayal of what would happen if someone breaks into a substation and touches or gets too close to the equipment. You usually end up with a crispy critter. When I was 4 - 5 I knew only idiots went into substations. It takes a real grade A moron to go into one.
I remember watching two electricity safety videos in school. The first was where a boy sticks a wet knife in a toaster and sees himself as Death (or something), the second was where a young Michael Farraday comes to the present day. The latter tape also had three mini adverts (were they PIFs?): fishing rod touching a pylon, child trying to get a ball down from a pylon with a racket and kids messing in a danger area.
@EvilCreationsCrew What she meant was that if that older lad's brother hadn't been with him, he would still have been alive. Our teacher was a staunch moralist.
@EvilCreationsCrew She thought he was a bad influence on him and that it was his foolishness that led to both his and his brother's deaths. I remember the end of this where their mum was about to find out what happened and a very grim song played over it while the lads' female pal cried. Sad stuff.
@Banner1979 I Though the ending was sad and gives me goosebumps by watching it just the though of that actully happeing to your best mate and his or her brother just sad :(
This was a shocking experience! Poor kids.

I remember this from yr 3 and 9, the teacher said "very powerful information, perhaps a bit too powerful" which is appropriate given its name!

@deaconredwhiteandblu oh and can i ask where you got the full video from? I want to see it again!

I remember watching this in Y6 in 1990. Our teacher said that that boy was indirectly killed by his older brother.

@Banner1979 What do you mean indirectly killed by his brother ?????

@EvilCreationsCrew I agree. It's alright kids having fun and all, but tampering with electricity is a highly nasty affair.
