Uli is just phenomenal, but MS is a prodigy - kinda apples/oranges, but both leave their mark. They are both innovators & are deserving of top honors in the guitar circles. They are both great guys personally, just wish MS could get past some of his troubles...
Uli- more composed and complex solos (in the early years), neoclassical pioneer, proto shredder mixed with hendrix and blackmore hard rock, huge theory knowledge
Michael- more influencial, faster solos, better tone, better technique, neoclasical shredder (when he wants to be), perfect vibratos, notes choice, enormous bluesy-hard rock feel, very unique style
Uli - More complex solos. Very nice proto-sweeping and diminished arps. Very hendrix influenced yet doesn't stand out.
MS - Best Tone, feel and emotion. Doesn't need a whammy bar and still abuses the hell outta a guitar! Unmistakeable sound and iconic harlequin V. When I see a flying harlequin V I think if Michael schenker. I wish he'd do someting with lemmy
I fave is Michael but gotta give ULI credit for pushing forward the neoclassical thing with blackmore and brian may.
oh man both are so influential and so good.......this is indeed a tough one....the roth scorpions is some of the best stuff....but msg and ufo are fantastic......i dont think i can decide....uli may have the edge when it comes to the unpredictable flare of hendrixian grooves he conceived.
Almost a coin toss. Both are top 10 rock/metal soloists for me. If I had to choose I'd give a slight edge to Roth. His solo on "Still so Many Lives Away" is amazing.
there are 2 different guitar players ,different styles,I love Uli's playing but my favorite will always be Michael Schenker, that AXe on top of the video looks very familiar.lol!

schenker for sure, and dont yell at me beacause i have herd his guitar performance of tokyo tapes and you know what its incredible! but schenker has a mind blowing and very distinktive and very original style and i like his stuff with UFO more then anything uli ever did. both amazing but schenker is the best!
