  • What does the lady reading the book say at the beginning?

  • isint it ironic that dracula is bela and van helsing is edward?I thought it was vice versa

  • Around 550k views on this one and not even 200k views on part 2. That's just too bad...

  • Thank you so much for posting not only this movie, but the original and not that version with the God-awful score.

  • Jó hallani magyar hangokat is, ha már a főszereplő is az.

  • Is it just me, or was the opening music also used for the movie Dr Zhivago ????

  • @chermaster85 Probably, its Swan Lake

  • Romania hasn't changed in hundreds of years. Guys there are still every bit as creapy as the guys in this movie!

    Minneapolis

  • @TomDavid88 And how do you know this? Communism and capitalism changed us for good. I don't know why you think we are creapy. I think that is just american arogance and ignorance.

  • @daeelly Walking through the streets of any Romanian city is like living in a nightmare. The Romanians have this morbid look on their faces, as if they are the living dead and the gypsies- they just took totally insane as you look into their eyes- perfect backdrop for a Fellini film.

  • I happen to be watching this and a professional Ice Skating, and the song they are playing is a remix of the title song in this movie..... O_O

  • It must be difficult to fly and hold the reins at the same time. -.-

  • gibts das auch auf deutsch???

  • I've only been watching 5 minutes of this and I can already tell this is a great film.

  • Love those opossums and armadillos, lol. Bela is so cool.

  • Is Scott Bakula in this movie? Because if he isn't, that was a wasted opportunity.

  • "Mua ha ha! We are creepy armadillos! We will ... curl up ... into really creepy balls ... and stuff ...."

  • @siukong We are...WERE-ARMADILLOS! BUAHAHAHA!

  • The original and the greatest Dracula - Bela Lugosi!

  • @2pacthugzta Long Live Count Dracula!!!!

  • @cstoczyn i agree .i was watching the dracula marathon on tcm today

  • @crystalbratcher30ify I Missed It

  • What is the name of the first song??

  • @cstoczyn Sorry what????

  • @MagnificentIron IDK = I Don't Know

    LOL = Laugh Out Loud

    OMG! = Oh, My Gosh!

    FTW = For The Win

  • @cstoczyn :o thks! xD

  • @MagnificentIron You're Welcome!

  • @MagnificentIron The first song is one of the main themes to "Swan Lake", a ballet by Tschaikovsky. It gets played throughout the ballet, but this version is the Act II theme.

  • @ksol1460tv Oh thank you very much :)

  • @MagnificentIron Y'welcome! They used to use classical music quite often in films and radio plays because it's public domain, you don't have to pay for it.

  • Talk about great gothic horror!

  • @MrCarl220 MMM HMM

  • BEWARE OF COUNT DRACULA!!!!

  • These classics have always been my favorite.

  • @nanciannef Mine 2

  • watching this for the first tiime in october

  • @thekainbot Me 2

  • I think I saw the version with the 1999 score because I remember different music.

  • @SSTTEEAALLTTHH I Like The Original Version Better

  • @cstoczyn

I think the score is great, but the only problem I have with the 1999 version is that there is too much music. It distracts from the conversation at times it shouldn't really be there, in conversations that don't require drama.

  • @cstoczyn

I don't know if it's because the music is too loud in comparison with the voices or because it never seems to end, but it get's annoying, distracting at moments.

  • @SSTTEEAALLTTHH No, It's Not

  • @cstoczyn

Then why don't you like the 1999 score-version?

  • @SSTTEEAALLTTHH IDK, Because It's Updated

  • awwwww...I can't share it... :(

  • @pandyloux You Have To!!!!

  • @cstoczyn It wont let me. No embed code....

  • @pandyloux Why?

  • I just realized there are ARMADILLOS in his castle. 9:38 lolwut?

  • thumbs up for the thirties

  • The restoration version of this film with high qualify are shown in cinemax

  • Strange choice of the "Swan Lake" by Chaikovsky for the cover song?

  • @monsterzeroJr Stock music but I love it.

  • @Drac39 What Music?

  • @cstoczyn Swan Lake was stock music that they put in a bunch of movies instead of writing their own

  • You fear the dark

    I fear the light

    Blood repulses you

    It is a great treat

    You grow old in time

    I grow into a bat

    And I do not sparkle,

    you Mormon twat

  • @mercurydoomsday

    LULZ :O

  • @mercurydoomsday *STANDING OVATION*

  • Thank you, this was added to our playlists here, and on facebook.

  • love it, the bat is leading the coach, wuz that grandpa munster?

  • Dracula & his wifes.....

they take the forms of volves! And bats!

  • I'm stunned, as the coach arrived at the tavern, the local folks started to speak... in Hungarian. I understand every word they say of course as I'm Hungarian as well, but I just never knew this movie would be filled with lines other than English. Fascinating!

  • @AkelA984

    Cool! What were they saying?

  • @TylerCharlesFisher Let me see, starting from app. 1:51 "...on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread..." (the old woman saying the Lord's Prayer in the background). Young girl: "Father, the mail coach is coming and the sun is setting as well." Father: "Take care of the child darling". Shouting: "The mail coach is coming at last!" Old lady running out: "They arrived, thank god they arrived". Man taking luggage from coach: "To the "Morgul Pass" tonight?"-> To be continued...

  • @AkelA984 Driver: "He wishes to go to the pass today and I'm afraid". Man @ 4:05: "Nightfall has come, the sun is setting!" People @ 5:05: "Oh my god help" etc. That's all they were saying. I don't think there are any more lines in Hungarian, but it was a nice feature anyway.

  • @AkelA984 Borgo Pass. This is a great scene. The FEAR on their faces! Almost campy now, but still just excellent. And the Renfield character (Dwight Frye) was just oh so SUBMISSIVE! Heh, heh.

  • that woman, who is reading from the book, is carla laemmle, and she is still alive and well today-she'll actually turn 102 next week!

  • @abakusek If I was around in the 30's

    I woulda hit that

  • @abakusek No kidding! Well, happy birthday!

  • I'd still do her. @abakusek

  • Dracula was the best vampire novel ever made, comparing it with twilight is like comparing shit to heaven.

  • Comment removed

  • @bakugancollecterZ I've Never Read It Before

  • @bakugancollecterZ U can say that again. From what I've heard, Bella from twilight got herself knocked-up by either Edward or Jacob (in the movie).

  • @HorrorBuff99 And then Buffy staked Edward.

    ~The End~

  • whoa dracula's got the best stare ever.... when he's the driver

  • I've just watched the 1931 Frankenstein film, a classic! Now I'm gonna watch this :)

  • Hear them, the children of the night. What beautiful music they make !

  • i enjoyed reading this book so it got my interest of watching it,...

  • yes it is the book, i know when it mentioned the castle dracula,...

  • i have a project about a book that is entitled Dracula,... it's was from the burlington books,.. i don't know if this is the movie, because my teacher said that it is,..

  • If you are interested in the historical Dragwlya, checkout the trailer at dragwlya.com now!

  • This Is Filmed In 1930

  • BTW: outstanding video quality!

  • RIP Dwight Frye.

  • Wait a minute... As seen on PCLinuxOS-Forums...?

  • This is the shit.

  • It's October and it's time to bring it in right. Vampires, werewolves, demons, death metal, black metal, blood and guts

  • @cabalofdemons Don't Forget.......ZOMBIES!!!!!

  • @cabalofdemons What's so scary about death metal? Sweaty dudes with screeching voices who believe that black clothing will cover at least for a portion of their non-existent charisma.

  • @mellowcowism O I C

  • @cabalofdemons You Mean, Halloween!

  • Now that it's officially October and Halloween is on it's way, I am going to watch Dracula and the other Universal Monsters films as much as I can. No matter what anyone else thinks, the original Dracula and Bela Lugosi will always be the true image of Vampires.

Not like those Cullen losers. I know I shouldn't compare this to Twilight, I just thought I'd get it off my chest

  • @sadlobster1 I agree with you on Bela Lugosi as the true vampire.

As for Twilight, I enjoy the films but they're not not horror at all, more romance/fantasy along the lines of Romeo and Juliet--Bella/Edward. Twilight is an entirely different genre of movie.

  • RIP Bram Stoker

  • FTW

  • OMG!

  • BOO!!!!!

  • Happy Halloween!!!!

  • Long Live Bela Lugosi!!!!!

  • RIP Bela Lugosi

  • LOVE IT!!!

  • @lareinemarie1 Me 2

  • This movie is so much based on the original Nosferatu it's not even funny. And also, you little Twilight obsessors, Edward would be torn apart by the original Dracula. His little glistening self wouldn't stand a chance.

  • @me4christ247 MMM HMM

  • Wow! At 1:03 native hungarians! Maybe Mr. Lugossi's fellows?

  • @zapkorte IDK

  • Lugosi Forever. Mindenkit szeretettel várok Lugosi Béci bá és a horror klasszikusok honlapján: a lugosibela.gportal.hu oldalon.

  • Hey~ I came here to watch real vampires in action

  • That music right in the beginning.... was the soundtrack to Bela Lugosi's life.... Sorrow and Magic. It was applied with mild artistic success to the recent Black Swan movie.

  • Bela and Ed Wood for ever!

  • What on earth!? Armadillos? XD

  • The last three films I watched ("Funny Girl," "The Red Shoes" and "Black Swan") all have a portion of Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake" in them. And now "Dracula" starts off with the score, too; this was totally by coincidence.

  • @Namuhana Or was it?

  • I have respect for Bela Lugosi. And I think this was the best "Dracula" they could have made in 1931. But I still think Frank Langella was way better.

  • twilight sucks

  • Last Halloween I saw this on AMC...with new music added. I was screaming at the TV: "YOU ROTTEN S.O.B.'S, HOW DARE YOU DESECRATE A CLASSIC!!!"

  • Aber die schliefen dann ein wie verrückt!

  • Und wer ahtte abba doch Alles dem Apotheker zugeliefert? Noch von 1202???

  • Holy shit Josh 476 thousand views

    You're fucking famous

  • 06:09 DAMN!!! He's kinda sexxay, if you're in the mood for PAIN.

  • This is off topic but I keep thinking about it while watching the movie. Could someone tell me if Romanians and Italians share a common ancestry? I couldn't find much information on the subject. I only wonder it because my family is from Napoli and when we speak the language, the accent and gestures are extremely similiar.

  • @Warhawk556 In fact, in our history books are said that we are descendants of the Romans. The Romanian territory was part of the Roman Empire and we have a romance language. As a Romanian, I understand many Italian words. Of course, we have many Slavic influences, because we are surrounded by Slavic peoples. But, I must disappoint you, people in this video speak Hungarian language because we have a Hungarian minority in Transylvania.

  • no, no, no, no, NO!! the intro music's ALL WRONG!!! why does this open with fucking Swan Lake? how does that relate with vampire terror at ALL?! I actually saw this on TV once, and it had TOTALLY different opening music! music that I felt fit perfectly with Dracula, unlike this BULLSHIT BALLERINA FUCK-ASS COCKSUCKERY!!! I demand an explination to this horrid abomination!

  • nice movie,, I wanted on spanish :(

  • Picture in the titles looka a lot like the Batman logo

  • Not to diss Bela Lugosi (big fan), but I find it just sad that out of all the depictions of Dracula in Hollywood, not ONE has come close to being faithful to the plot/characters of the original Bram Stoker novel.

  • Thank you, just...thank you for uploading this!

  • Thanks for sharing................

  • WAKE UP PARENTS! Your children are probably watching YouTube and seeing this "discourse"!

  • @kraftpr shut the fuck up

  • @Italy4ever06 such base erudition!

  • @Italy4ever06 Dude, he's obviously a troll.

  • I cannot believe with all the technology out there today that YouTube cannot find some means to DELETE all the foul, four-letter (and worse) language in certain comments. In my opinion they SHOULD be deleted immediately and accounts that persist in using such vocabulary should be TERMINATED! My opinion.

  • @kraftpr I second that motion.

  • @kraftpr Its called freedom of speech.I personally think they should ban people who run there mouth just to start a argument.

  • @zane757 I'm all for freedom of speech but on a public site, where kids have access, I think it ought to be clean speech. Points can be made without the use of vulgar vocabulary. Again, my opinion :-)

    Have A Nice Day!

  • Dracula- Alucard Alucard-Dracula dracula is Alucard backwards

  • i miss those old dracula movies like his one and i think its a remake the one were draculas and old guy with hair boobs..giggle...lol..ok well ya that ne but really all those old bitches with no life like the whore from twillight are killing vampires with their chick flick crap and honestly the last acurate good vampire movie ive seen recently was Let Me In idk if any of u have seen it but they burn when the sun hits em not sparckle!!!! fuck twillight and other books that have raped vampires!!!

  • Buffy vs. Dracula was the best. Thing. Ever.

  • Tim Burton...do a remake.

  • The Spanish version is better... just sayin'. (Bela is a better Dracula though).

  • Wolfsbane's one of the ingredients said to make witches' fly! Poisonous too.

  • Bela Lugosi is to Draculas as Sean Connery is to James Bond. All others are doomed to be compared. Frank Langella was the only one with anywhere near the power Bela had. Didn't need to say a word to chill you. Didn't need retarded overdone special effects. Get it?

  • @dmutchler I couldn't agree more

  • hi mate. dracula is a very classic thanks for uploading

  • Come to me!

  • Peeeeople, stop fucking talking about Twilight @Dracula movies. Why are the top-posts ALWAYS about Twilight? You can't even compare Edward to Dracula. Dracula(Bela) is a legend, a genius and a very talented actor.C'mon now, do me(and Dracula) a favour and shut up - go troll some Twilight fan movies or something.

  • @LADYxIMMORTELLE You admit it. I had to watch this video because I had to play a duet that was not what I had previously done in drama class. When the question game came along, I knew I had to ask my duet partner, who was playing Dracula, how he would look when he sparkles. Everyone laughed. Those people that make fun of twilight had the same exact mindset that I had when I can't watch any Tron-related video without overlooking the Matrix as well as Disney vs WB.

  • @SirGabriel2076 Actually, I misused the word, "overlook." What I meant was I can't watch a Tron-related video without mentioning that comparing such to something of the Matrix is in deed comparing Disney to WB. The really funny thing is that people often overlook that comparison despite the fact that it was even more obvious than Disney buying Marvel, which received many responses regarding WB and DC including Disney Comics logo and WB Comic logo.

  • Respond to this video... In this case, you can't love this nowadays without making fun of Twilight. If you love this film, you hate Twilight, and vice versa. Steven Sommers' Van Helsing is the middle ground, though.

  • Respond to this video... It is true. You can't have one without the other.

  • @Xexetrex , who said the 23 dislikes are Twilight fans , you don't know if they are or not they may hate them. I agree this Dracula movie is 1000 times better then those movies. This Dracula movie is a Classic and a top favorite of mine as well as the other Universal Horror movies of the 30's and 40's.

  • I looooove Bela Lugosi. Makes me proud to be Hungarian (as if I needed the incentive)
