In 5 months, it will be a year that Bishop Walter L. Hawkins took long awaited rest. Even now, I still can not believe that he is actually no longer among us in body. But he will always be with us in our heart's and mind. His musical lyric's will be with us for decades. He is greatly missed! I too was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2005. I was not expected to live too long because I was in the final stage. Well, to God be the Glory, I'm still here! Thank you Lord for all You've done for me!!!
One of the Worlds most greatest Giants is no longer with us in body, however his spirit is here and will never be forgotten. It is a wonderful thing when we have in our presence one who is more than called but Chosen to serve. We thank GOD for allowing us to have known such a talent and powerhouse. I see this Bishop has affected all of us in the same way....I sit here at work and watch this video over and over again and cry like he was my bestest friend. Bishop Hawkins was truly a heaven sent.
Simply "Marvellous", as I sit here with tears streaming down my face. My previous choir director formed a singing group with us, the "Gospelaires" back in the 80's, and we sang I'm sure every song that Walter Hawkins wrote. My heart ached when he made his transition.

It's been said that Walter Hawkins & Love Center were preparing for the Love Alive 6. So I am assuming and praying that he wrote some of the songs. If that is the case, then we are in store for something wonderful.
I am one of those fortunate and blessed people that have grown up w/ the music ministery of the Hawkins family, primarily Walter Hawkins, from a little girl singing "Going up Yonder" and thoughout my life, w/ the Hawkins music buffet, including "What Is This?"; "Thank You, Lord"; "Marvelous"; "Changed"; "I'm Going Away"; "Hold On, Old Soldier"; "I Love You, Lord", etc. . Walter Hawkins' anointing in music ministry will surpass the test of time.
Such an inspiration of how to worship during the storm. What a wonderful time Heaven is having with Bishop Hawkins and others who have gone on to be with Jesus. When we all get to Heaven what a time it will be. I grew up singing songs from the Hawkins family. I will never forget the joy we had in praising God with such anointed lyrics and music. Hey, I'm a very big fan of Walter Hawkins are they going to upload his funeral on youtube anytime soon? I heard the family have to appove of it. There is a lot of Walter Hawkins fans all over the world who would love to see his memorial on youtube. For me, he was like a big brother in the gospel music. What a soldier, what a performance! I absolutely love Walter Hawkins and the Love Center Choir. My favorite song is I'm Goin' Away but there are so many Masterpieces; Change, Thank You Lord, Be Grateful, The Just Shall Live By Faith, Follow Me, Going Up Yonder and on and on. When I read of his death, I was saddened, shocked, etc. I know he is in a better place. He will most definitely by those near and far; but his music will live on forever. HE WAS A LEGEND!!! Over the course of these 10 years, so much good came out of so much bad. I couldn't imagine a badly broken ankle that ended my job, put my household in a financial crisis, caused me all types of unspeakable physical pain & multiple surgeries. How could this be as it should be. But, time HAS revealed that truly ALL things work together. Thank you BISHOP for receiving the WORDS of the LORD and sharing them with me for my PEACE. Then, I destroyed my ankle. Hospitalized, not allowed to travel, not able to drive or do anything, much, for myself. My mom came to Cali to assist my return to the east coast. The last and one of the only going out requests that she honored was to take me to church before we left. Bishop prayed for me. But, it is the prayer that still stands out in my mind. He prayed that I have a PEACE that all things were just as they should be according to the WILL of GOD. How peculiar, I remember thinking.

Thank you God and Hawkins family for sharing your gift with the world. Walter Hawkins has blessed me over the years with his worship music. "Marvelous is my very favorite of sooooo many songs. It continously blesses me each time I hear it sung. God bless you Hawkins family.

In 5 months, it will be a year that Bishop Walter L. Hawkins took long awaited rest. Even now, I still can not believe that he is actually no longer among us in body. But he will always be with us in our heart's and mind. His musical lyric's will be with us for decades. He is greatly missed! I too was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2005. I was not expected to live too long because I was in the final stage. Well, to God be the Glory, I'm still here! Thank you Lord for all You've done for me!!!

One of the Worlds most greatest Giants is no longer with us in body, however his spirit is here and will never be forgotten. It is a wonderful thing when we have in our presence one who is more than called but Chosen to serve. We thank GOD for allowing us to have known such a talent and powerhouse. I see this Bishop has affected all of us in the same way....I sit here at work and watch this video over and over again and cry like he was my bestest friend. Bishop Hawkins was truly a heaven sent.

Simply "Marvellous", as I sit here with tears streaming down my face. My previous choir director formed a singing group with us, the "Gospelaires" back in the 80's, and we sang I'm sure every song that Walter Hawkins wrote. My heart ached when he made his transition.

Thank you for posting this great peace of gospel history. Knowing how sick Bishop Hawkins was ill , and still was able to perform at that excellent level he is known for, makes tears come to my eyes and soul, for I know GOD annointing this man for the work he has done. I know he is at the foot of our LORD GOD and Savoir worshiping and, we hope, helping new souls come to this world with the same great anointing for music he had. He will be very much missed. Amazing! This shows me as I am doing my morning meditation that God is all we need, no matter what our state. God has ALL power to give us what we need and that POWER is enough -no matter what! Praise God!
I hope this video is never removed. Singers, praisers, musicians, and all believers can see in this video that God can and will give us grace to minister through ANYTHING - hurts, disappointments, our stuff and yes even physical illness. PRAISE GOD!

I am one of those fortunate and blessed people that have grown up w/ the music ministery of the Hawkins family, primarily Walter Hawkins, from a little girl singing "Going up Yonder" and thoughout my life, w/ the Hawkins music buffet, including "What Is This?"; "Thank You, Lord"; "Marvelous"; "Changed"; "I'm Going Away"; "Hold On, Old Soldier"; "I Love You, Lord", etc. . Walter Hawkins' anointing in music ministry will surpass the test of time.

Such an inspiration of how to worship during the storm. What a wonderful time Heaven is having with Bishop Hawkins and others who have gone on to be with Jesus. When we all get to Heaven what a time it will be. I grew up singing songs from the Hawkins family. I will never forget the joy we had in praising God with such anointed lyrics and music. This video was a blessing for me because I wasn't that big of a fan. I had some of his music as well as his families. But to see him praising our LORD with such energy as is it was his first time let's me see that he really knew and loved GOD! I'm gonna now go and find all of his work. R.I.P.............

Hey, I'm a very big fan of Walter Hawkins are they going to upload his funeral on youtube anytime soon? I heard the family have to appove of it. There is a lot of Walter Hawkins fans all over the world who would love to see his memorial on youtube. For me, he was like a big brother in the gospel music. What a soldier, what a performance! I absolutely love Walter Hawkins and the Love Center Choir. My favorite song is I'm Goin' Away but there are so many Masterpieces; Change, Thank You Lord, Be Grateful, The Just Shall Live By Faith, Follow Me, Going Up Yonder and on and on. Love Alive I, II, and III ministered to me 30 years ago and to this very day those songs are my favorites! St. Louis is thanking God for the blessings that you have rendered by ministering in song. thank you for posting these videos for I am in tears. I grew up listening to and loving Walter Hawkins, his family and the Love Ctr. Choir. I thank God for sharing him with us. The world, the gospel music industry, the city of Oakland and the state of California is a much better place because he was a part of it. His legacy will NEVER die!!!!

When I read of his death, I was saddened, shocked, etc. I know he is in a better place. He will most definitely by those near and far; but his music will live on forever. HE WAS A LEGEND!!! Rest in peace faithful servant!!! Your job on earth has bee completed. WELL DONE!!!! My heartfelt sympathies to his family and friends.

In my early twenties and going through, that is one of the many songs that comforted me in my loneliness. Out of all the songs Bishop Hawkins has song this one he chose to sing is my husband's favorite one ( Marvelous ) As always he had tears falling from his eyes; although, my husband is not converted at this time, but I'm praying for him to be. The Bishop song with much anointing with the God given strength he had before hand and toward the end. He will be deeply missed. i remember seeing that Dennis gentleman when i visited GMCHC DC......his beard wasn't silver though, back in and between l8 90's up to mid 2000's.
I'd heard but didn't know if it was true that Richard Smallwood attended GMCHC......wonderful music ministry.

Also, Richard is not a member of GMCHC. He does attend a church here in DC though.

Bishop Hawkins is missed already. This song is a masterpiece and no doubt was given to him by God. God called one of the greatest of the greats home. I know he's at the feet of Jesus.

Oh, my! Such an anointed, clear, convicting, and signature voice. Such a range. Such a talent and gift. So glad we have these memories to treasure, share, and relive again. Thanks for posting. Ah! Poignant, but I'm rejoicing that he's sleeping now.

We thank God for all the wonderful music that Bishop Hawkins gave us over the years. We thank God that he will live on in our memories and through his music. May his family be comforted in knowing that he is now in the wonderful presence of King Jesus. What a marvelous thing to see Jesus face to face. Rest in peace.

I feel like I have just lost a member of my family!! I grew up listening to Bishop Hawkins and his family (Love Alive). I will truly miss his voice, and just his presence that emanated from every project he participated in. My prayers and thoughts go out to his family.

Over the course of these 10 years, so much good came out of so much bad. I couldn't imagine a badly broken ankle that ended my job, put my household in a financial crisis, caused me all types of unspeakable physical pain & multiple surgeries. How could this be as it should be. But, time HAS revealed that truly ALL things work together. Thank you BISHOP for receiving the WORDS of the LORD and sharing them with me for my PEACE. Then, I destroyed my ankle. Hospitalized, not allowed to travel, not able to drive or do anything, much, for myself. My mom came to Cali to assist my return to the east coast. The last and one of the only going out requests that she honored was to take me to church before we left. Bishop prayed for me. But, it is the prayer that still stands out in my mind. He prayed that I have a PEACE that all things were just as they should be according to the WILL of GOD. How peculiar, I remember thinking.
