At first I didn't think that I was gonna 'like this'! I've heard the 'song' before. And you know how it is when you 'know' it certain ways! :-) But I MUST Say.. THIS is PHENOMENAL! I LOVE it! And I appreciate this posting! And 'THANK YOU'!
I remember hearing this song growing up with my mom listening to it as she would clean the house. Although i acted like i didn't like it, I'm a thirty year old male and i love Linda Ronstadt's voice, mom knew good music, I've finally learned.
Thanks for putting this up. A lovely live version ! I like the way she hangs on before the chorus begins. Linda has one of the best voices ever. I agree totally with others here - she should be in the Rock Hall of Fame. A weird omission.
Do yourself a huge favor and go see Linda Rondstadt perform live if you have the chance.I have never heard anyone ever sing better live than a recording, she blows the roof off!!!! AMAZING is all I can say
@sescalante100 You are right; inspite of the fact that this is not a "professional" recording of her live concert--makes not difference; her Voice still sears the soul...
I'm an old time LR fan who's been to many of her concerts including this one for her album, Cry Like a Rainstorm. Personally, I think she peaked as a singer during her previous album, Get Closer and this one. She seemed to be in complete control of her voice and singing and the materials were first rate. Would have liked to see and hear her perform Shattered, a real tear jerker of a song.
greetings from little singapore.hav not heard wilson version or alice version.but not my fav track on the studio recordings...but wow she certainly pull it off live - effortless-vocal tour de force.
Jimmy Webb's signature song - soaring melody and vocally challenging. Linda can pull this one off so effortlessly. This is one of my favourite songs by Webb.
I love this song, but with Mary Wilson of The Supremes singing it. On The Supremes Produced & Arranged By Jimmy Webb. Which Linda did a great job also.
I LOVE The Supremes and Mary's briliant vocal performance on the song b u t I must say my favourite version of the song is ALICE CLARK'S highly underrated version
Linda wrote the song TRY ME AGAIN from Hasten Down the Wind. I consider the song a great vehicle for her voice and a beautiful song. Carrie Underwood recorded it recently. I think Linda was intimidated by all the talent around her and decided to focus on her undisputed gift, the voice. I do believe she sold herself short though. She stopped playing the guitar publicly too. Being a perfectionist stopped her from experimenting with her own song writing.
This is sung so beautifully. At first was disappointed that there's not better visibility, but quite happy to have this one. Especially after getting it by rummaging around around on one of her fan site chat forums. Kinda rewarded for the effort.
Do you think it could be because she mostly covered songs and did not write her own music? I mean, she wasn't a songwriter-and why wouldn't this glorious voice be enough? But sometimes things like that seem to matter-just a thought.
Amazing! I have never seen her perform this song, its one of my favorites. Thanks. There is no one like Linda. She does not get the respect she deserves from the public, but what does the general public know of talent?
Years later now, when I hear this song, i get goose bumps.
A total triumph.
I have to find my CD of the Rainstorm album. It's a total gem. Linda was never in better voice and the material is fantastic.

Yes, "Shattered" is a tearjerker, but not nearly as much as this song!

I've been a fan of Linda's since I was 13 or 14. I saw her during this tour, and was thrilled and mesmerised.

Only Ms. Ronstadt can take a song, any song, and record it beautifully, and sing it LIVE, and transcend it to the HEAVENS...

The Mary Wilson version of this is excellent.

All I can say is "WOW". Best female vocalist pipes in the biz. Such a beautiful song and soooo powerfully sung. Thanks for posting!

Wow. This is challenging "Down So Low" as her best performance in my opinion. I'm not sure right now which one is best.

No doubt. That boggles the mind. I've always assumed she had been.

Nope, along with Heart and Pat Benatar, all three are missing from there. A bunch of bullshit if you ask me.

Madonna's in the Hall of Fame, but none of these brilliant ladies. Yup...I'd say that's B.S. alright.

yeah, I agree qimissung; when you have THE voice, as Ms. Ronstadt does, what difference does it make if she writes hers songs or not?
