It's a ok song, and I will tell you why it is nothing to be compared to Italo Disco. "Is it really magic in the air?"... Poor english artists... C.C. Catch never had a doubt. Maybe so, but for this particular time, this was the most "musically sophisticated" dance song out there. When u think about it, Culture Club sort of "owned" this space, until this song/group came out. Musically (and compositionally), this is up there with Jamiroquai, Scritti Politti, Level 42 and Nik Kershaw. Being (or not being) gay, is completely secondary to being able to compose music this good. Also, I seriously doubt that a single country has a monopoly on writing "great" dance songs :-)
