  • Why test them at night lol?????

  • @Wakeboarder2541

Deadline maybe? Because to do these test I think they need permits and clearance and stuff and its only effective for that day of the testing. So if it got delayed they prob need to file permits and clearance all over again.

  • It is ratlling your windows due to infrasonic vibrations. 1-16HZ OVER A 120 DECIBELS. The infrasonic sounds travel extremely far therefore it shakes your house.

  • of course it is scary because the rocket is outputting subsonic sounds 1-10hz at a 120-160DB. The sound of a rocket emits infrasound.

  • I like how they decide to test a midnight when everyone would be up and adam.

  • @stdavross666 This test was scheduled for late afternoon, but mechanical trouble caused a delay. It was midnight when they were finally ready to go. Liquid Oxygen boils off quickly, so it was either cancel the test for a week until they could get more LOX tankers, or else light it up. SpaceX is run by engineers.

  • Absolutely awesome

  • The sound of freedom!

  • Giving my subwoofer a work out!

  • Well, anybody that complains. UTAH would love to have them and the work!!! So please complain and have them move out here!! They are the best. Lucky you.. They are making you famous and bringing work. Your town will grow. Life it a B...when you have it good don't know it.

  • that's badass :o

  • "i'm scaried" LOLz :DDD

  • the first night there were over 200 911 calls that first time they tested that engine. i guess people were shitting on them self.

  • dude i live about 1.5 miles away from the spacex test center in mcgregor it is loud when they go off windows shaking and pics falling off walls when they do the Falcon 9 engine

  • Word has it SpaceX are planning to put the Falcon 9 first stage (this time the actual 1st flight unit) up on that stand once more in the next couple of weeks and do a series of ignition tests.

That could mean several short (I'd guess 3 second) firings. Nothing as spectacular as this by duration, but possibly worthy of being on the lookout.

  • A 10 second test was supposed to happen yesterday or today with another next week and 2nd stage tests later. This the runup to it all being shipped to the Cape next month for launch a few weeks later.

The payload won't be the cargo fairing in their pretty pictures a few months ago but a qualification unit of the Dragon spaceship which is slated to haul cargo, and perhaps up to 7 people, to the ISS after the shuttle retires.

    Heady days :)

  • I would SO like to live where you guys do....this would be a TREAT for me, every time it happened!!......How often does it happen??

  • When I was a kid they would test the saturn 5 engines at Rocketdyne santa susana test site and the sky would light up like this . I allways thought it was awesome !

  • Some people would complain about the noise, but I certainly wouldn't!

  • that was awesome..thanks for the vid

  • bungholio, just stop talking, unplug your computer and return it, your cell phone, GPS and other electronic devices the rely on space technology. because with out it, your ignorant ass wouldnt be here fagging up youtube.

private space is on the bleeding edge of being the new revolution. if you want to complain about it, you should at least educate yourself on what spaceflight has accomplished.

  • FANTASTIC!!!! amazing sound! Greetings from switzerland. ;-)

  • It's not YOUR tax dollars, ninkumpoop. SpaceX is a private company.

If you want to bitch about money going up in smoke, bitch about your 700 BILLION dollar bailouts instead.

  • What's Bush got to do with the space program??? You elected him, TWICE, you pay for it.

As for the space program, if it weren't for it - no satellite TV (DUH!), no weather forecasts and a shitload of other stuff you're not even AWARE OF that came from space-related research.

So stick that "pointless shit" crap where the sun don't shine you ignorant twit. Until it's YOUR money that goes up in smoke hold your mouth shut. Enjoy your ignorance, it's what elects the next G.W.Bush you'll get.

  • i wasnt dumb enough to vote for that moron first off. second off the name calling is quite immature there dizzle. THIRD when the hell did i say bush was responsible for the space program??? theres nothing wrong with going into space and all that but this is not really the time for it. but obviously theres no having an intelligent discussion with you. if someone sees things differently than you thats grounds for a hanging. if i believed in god id pray for you

  • Now is PRECISELY the time to invest in space and other high tech industry during the times of recession. Creating new jobs and in return possibly getting technology spinoffs that benefit everyone. U.S. spends less than 1% of its annual budget on space so the arguments against it are completely false. It's as if they literally launch money into space as opposed to pumping the local economy.

  • But yeah, there's no intelligent discussion to be had here because it has to be black-n-white, right? Any money spent on space is money wasted. Rrrright.

No one looks at the bigger picture instead of lowering to "pointless shit" accusations of wasting money because THEY don't see or understand the direct benefit. In my book, that's ignorance. Whether you think that's name calling is your problem.

  • I'm at a loss for words, go make your own money and spend it how you want.

  • man i live eddy and it shaked ma house and the sky was orange

  • Yea It is my understanding that there is some type of deflector that shields the north and east side of the rocket and in turn deflects that energy and sound to the west, which was where the video was shot. Do anyone know if this is true?

  • Yes, there is a deflector at the base of the stand, if you look at the video you can see the exhaust directed to one side. It's visible even in your video.

  • Thanks for the video. Has a much better soundtrack than the official version. I'm surprised there aren't more sucg videos what with all the mass hysteria it caused and all.

I wish I could have heard that in person...

  • whoo!! thats awsome

  • lol i remember this i heard the rumbling but i thought it was just helicopters flying low but it kept goin for a few minutes so i went outside and i saw i was like O.o...i though it was a bomb at first.

  • The test was not at midnight. It was at 10:30.

  • Wow! Awesome! That was really nice of them to test the engines at midnight. Timing FAIL! LOL! Great video. Science rocks! :D

  • They've been testing 9 engines actually :) (that's how many Falcon 9 has) Cool vid. Thanks for sharing.

  • Soooo cool, thanks for uploading, were you warned? I have read no one knew lol.

  • I think they do warn those in the city through the local paper or something, but I live in a smaller surrounding city but I had no warning personallly.
