I was at KATL once as a passenger, and a Terminal E tug wouldn't start. The ramp agent lifted the hood, did something (?), and got it going again.

It probably starts like crap because as soon as you get it started your rev the crap out of it before it has any oil flowing thru the engine.... try pumping the gas more before trying to start it. Or like Xaqman said... put a choke on it.
