I don't really understand this argument. Bill Clinton has not been in office since 2001. It makes the most logical and intuitive sense to assume Obama is referring to the the politicians during the time Bush was in office and the direction they took our country in.

Also, changing back to these older politicians does not even intrinsically involve the renewal of their older policies.  How would it?

Hellooooo, the change is from the Bush years, not the Clinton years people. Typical of Obama detractors to try to ignore historical facts! Our country was in excellent shape during the Clinton years. Look it up! Unemployment, economy, surplus, you name it. Under Bush, don't bother looking it up- you're living it! Obama doesn't pick his drinking buddies for the cabinet like the last guy. WAKE UP!

Some things to note. The Clinton administration dealt The Bush Administration an enormous surplus, somewhere in the ball park of $5.6 Trillion. Yes, his advisers mentioned above are from the Clinton Adm. So what? Rober Gates (Secretary of Defense) is a republican. Oh and the one head of the Treasury, Timothy Geithner is a Moderate Republican. I don't understand the argument? Politics as usual? we will see

Very good point to bring up; however, I believe Obama was referring to the unsuccessful and corrupt policies and politicians when he said "same old politics and players", in fact, I think that is quite clear. I do not know the Clinton administration inside and out, but I do recall that the nation prospered during their time in office....
