  • I think people should have a choice in what they want to put in their body. The real problem is the law which criminalizes people for having a health problem. Drug use should be dealt with by offering help, not locking people up. When drugs became illegal it created dealers, gangs & a black market (think Capone & prohibition). There are just as many people doing drugs now as there were when drugs were legal, only now we waste billions on an ineffective, racist, & damaging, drug war.

  • Fabulous! Thank You For Helping Others. No Joke!

  • teen addiction??

come back in a few decades cos you youngins ain't ready....

  • Rehab didnt work for me,and sadly,it only works less than 3 percent of the time, however,I hope that Jared is one of the three percent. He will be in my thoughts for sure. I wish him the best. He is in hell right now...literal hell.

  • I know people that have been on methadone for 30+ years. I look at it like this..if I ever feel 100 percent confident that I would not relapse..then I would consider easing off. However, because longterm addicts have permanently changed their chemistry..they may never feel "normal" without something on the receptors. I look at it like it is my medicine. A diabetic doesnt stop insulin,so why should an addict stop something that helps them?

  • Of course,if someone can get straight without any medication..they should,I applaud people who do that. However,if anyone has seen the rate of success for hardcore addicts(heroin, oxycontin etc.)it is less than 3 percent. However, with methadone treatment it does actually jump to about 21 percent..still low but a lot better. I think, however, that methadone treatment should only be for the hardcore addicts, not just people who take 4-5 pain pills(vicodin etc.)per day.

  • My friend was a heroin addict for over 25 years, he took ibogaine a while back which worked for him. We've known a lot of hardcore addicts that have tried everything and haven't had any success until taking ibogaine. But methadone does work for some people because I agree with you, some people have an imbalance and actually function better with the added dopamine. Addiction is very poorly understood. People need to understand that addiction is a public health issue, not a criminal issue...

  • Sorry to hear about your friend. May God be with him and set him free from his addiction.

  • For there, but for the grace of god goes I. I wish you and your friend the best.

  • I wish you a good luck!

  • I was addicted to oxycontin for 6 years..with the help of methadone(dont believe the negative stories..if used properly it is a miracle medicine for addicts),I have now been clean for almost 4 years. I have watched 4 friends die in the last 5 years(including my best friend of Xanax overdose)due to addiction. Jailing people does nothing but make them learn how to be a better criminal. I think VIOLENT offenders should be jailed and punished harshly..but non-violent addicts just need help.

  • Yeah, addiction is a major problem and the so-called drug war is a losing battle and ridiculous to start with. I am a former addict and you do not cure addiction by jailing addicts. Sure if someone is violent or does something violent they need jail, however, over 70 percent of our inmates in the U.S are NON-VIOLENT drug offenses. More in next comment.

  • This is a terrible burden on the taxpayers. Billions are spent just to catch people with a few pills or weed. However,if we spent the money on education, prevention and treatment,it would be much more successful. We have tried locking up people for 40+ years in this stupid drug war..IT DOESNT WORK! Has it helped anything? NO! If you do something for that long and it shows no progress...only gets worse..IT IS THEN TIME TO CHANGE TACTICS..wouldnt ya think?

  • The so called drug war has used the tactic of jailing dealers and addicts for 40+years..and it has done nothing to curb drugs or addiction! It has gotten worse. All it does is burden the taxpayers with keeping NON-VIOLENT people in prison at the cost of 49 thousand per inmate per year. Only people benefitting are the judges, lawyers, high ranking law enforcement and the correctional system lobbyist and politicians who help keep this farce going.

  • I agree with you man violent offenders need to be locked up addicts need to get help... If they won't send the to some sort of rehab they should at least offer counsleing in jail... Something.... KluTz333

  • let us pray..forgive me father for i have sinned

  • if he was going to jail how did he call ?

where are his parents ? why did he not call them ?

that is the problem i see

  • I have done some bad drugs had friends die from drugs... Also I still have friends on drugs and the best place for them is jail... I know and i'm sure you don't want to hear that Marijuana has no addictive agent in it at all... Ok let me tell you i'm going to school for substance abuse treatment now...

  • Marijuana should be legal coke is a bad drug but i was hook line and sinker on coke until i finally just had enough of it... You can't help someone who doesn't think they have a problem and in a perfect world people would be able to do as they pleased as long as they didn't physically harm anyone else...

  • Some people need to be locked up and that sucks but thats just the way it is... I spent some time in jail myself at least in there maybe he want get drugs... You have to know though that if he is willing to do anything to get the drugs he will get them in prison... I was in the County Jail for two days and in that time i had gotten drunk smoked some weed and did som xanxaes...

  • I have friends right now sitting at there house smokeing meth and i would rather piss in there face than help them... They are smart people i'm a smart person i got my shit together they need to do the same life sucks deal with it... KluTz333

  • yup !!
