I remember the days when Glendale Park was the hangout place in Oak Cliff on Sundays. Cars and trucks lined up and down Ledbetter while hundreds of people socialized and picnicked with no drama. Dont know why Dallas/Ft.Worth has connected with this song so strongly but its definitely not a bad choice. Love it
I STILL LOVE THIS SONG AND I STILL JAMM IT TO THIS DAY,,YALL DONE TOOK ME BACK NAMMING ALL THOSE CLUBS BUT DO YALL REMEMBER GENESIS AN OAKCLIFF ON OVERTON,,THATS WHERE IT USE TO BE,,THIS SONG TAKE ME BACK WHEN I HAD NO WORRYS NO BILLS NO KIDS,BUT THATS LIFE SO EVERYONE ENJOY IT.WHAT WOULD I DO JUST TO GO BACK FOR JUST ONE GOOD DAY

We had fun in Dallas...this song definitely got some play RIP U-Shay and everyone else who are not with us today.
Another Big "D" representing!! I am so glad they play this song on the radio. I was only three when this song came out, but for some reason I always knew it. Likely my Mom and Dad. Anyway, this is real r & b. Love it!!
you wouldn't believe the number of ppl who would call in on 104.5 (Dallas) when they had the Quiet Storm on trying to find out who sung this and how could they find the CD. Its a hard find... but the jam!
Oh my god, this song was the best song ever to skate on, we kicked it back in the day at all the rollers rinks, and yes may U-Shay rest in peace, i remember lock in's at the Twilight in Pleasant Grove. And if a club was open we were there, City Lights, Fat Sally's, Bernards, RJ's, 220, Stars, Old Beamers, and i can go on and on. I'm sure alot of us might know each other.
@Felicialynn2001 Oh my goodness, no you did not say 220!!! Man, I haven't heard that club mentioned in years. It's so amazing how many great memories this song brings back in Dallas......
@Felicialynn2001 THIS IS SO AWESOME WE LIVED IN DALLAS IN 1983 AND IT WAS SOMETHING WE USE TO GO SWIMMING IN NORTH DALLAS RIGHT AT THE PARK BY THE HIGHWAY OFF OF STATE STREET ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE NORTH DALLAS PROJECTS BY 27TH. THAT IS CRAZY THAT SOME ONE ELSE WOULD BE IN THIS AND U-SHAY, THATS WHEN DOUBLE DUTCH BUS HAD COME OUT I WAS DATING TYRONE GREENE SO CRAZY
@Felicialynn2001 U cant leave out The Aquarius Theater , Nicoles (later to be PIZZAZ) and the Car Wash on Camp Wisdom and 35 ...evrybody was there every weekend ...not to mention late night races on the side of 20 and Bonnie View.....Man that was a fun time....
@Felecialynn2001 OMG I'm sitting at work and this song popped up in my head. Yes, I'm from Dallas :)) and this song was the hit to skate to and slow it down jamming at Shamrock and Twilight Lol...

had no idea so many people from dallas associate with this song. I, born in the era of "good music" ('78), I can confirm with everyone else, this is the essence of dallas, ft. Worth and the entire metroplex. Man, dr. Rock. I had a tape recorder ready for him every saturday night @ 10pm. We, of Dallas, TX thank you infinitely and immensely ;)
@centim6 it's funny, I wonder if Cindy Mizelle or anyone from that group knows that we just "took" their song and made it all ours, lol!!! But, if I'm out of town and I hear this song, I immediately become homesick!
@centim6 man I was doing the same thing. I recorded DR Rock on 104.5 and DJ Ushay on 107.5 and KNON back in the 80's and I use to go to Club Countach in Garland every Saturday.
@centim6 Dump the Funk! As soon as I read you saying Dr. Rock & K104...I knew that you know. I was there my sister was there & you are so right (God forgive us) we didn't know it then, but we know it now, (as you said) that was the era of great music. I'm not living down there in D- & Cowtown anymore (Seattle, WA now) but glad to see am not the only one who remembers & yearns for those days once more. Thanks God for the memories, I am AOW042970 Peace!
It's funny that I pull this up to post to the D.W. Carter website and then I read all of the comments about the love affair we Dallasites have with this song. We sure love to groove, don't we?
OMG! Dallas, TX this was the jam I remember my sisters jammin this one on their way to the club "BernardsII" lol.......Shamrock, Twilight, Dr. Rock, Ushay, D.O.C, man straight memories DFW!!!!!
Been looking for this song for so long lived in Dallas area when I was a little girl, and my mom and her friend listened to this song all the time. It stuck in my head, thanks for this it brings back so many memories and " I LOVE THIS SONG" wish i could find the to put into my phone. Wow this is lovely. This is one of the Classics, and one of the best songs ever. Just listen and u will love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok let me rep Funkytown when everyone from Tech,Wyatt,Dunbar,Poly,S.west, heights, paschal and both hills used to got to Jollytime when Dr. rock was here.
if i could, I would make this the "Dallas/Ft.Worth National Anthem" because of all the love this groove gets from the area. Much love to Oak Cliff, the Grove, Duncanville, Cedar Hill and the Red Bird area, which is an entity all its own..........love this song
@67Blackknight , No you did"nt say the Aquarius Theater parking lot, i totally forgot about that. See that's why blogging is great, for moments like this, when someone can take you down memory lane, does anyone remember the Sound Warehouse on polk, they had a major block party or two, PLZ REPLY
Dang! Didn't know so many of us Dallas peeps (Arts Magnet & BMC student here...class of '82) dug the hell outta this tune. Thanks Ushay!
If you ever see Cindy Mizelle's self-titled CD...trust me to go ahead and buy it. It's one of the GREATEST R&B ballad albums ever. This here song brings back soo many memories and still sounds good to listen to.
This is the slow jam for the Dallas crew of the 80's-SOC, Carter, Velt, Kimball, Hutch, Skyline, Lincoln, Madison, Pinkston, A Maceo, and all the others not mentioned. This was the ultimate slow jam on Saturday Nights in K104FM and at all the teeny bopper and adult clubs. USHY RIP. Dr. Rock where you at!!
you cats are right on point, im straight out of oak cliff, remember hearing this jam in the ghetto club in south dallas, was hearing it at shamrock going with my big brothers while they"slow skated" this was the shit..too bad all these young cats know about is some dancing shit, is it just me or is this the most dancingest generation ive ever seen?
This song had been stuck in my head for months, I could remember the lyrics but not the artist (probably because I was so young when this song was popular). Its such a feel good song, brings back so many positive childhood memories. Now that I am older and have experienced a few things, the lyrics ring true. I absolutely love this song. Oh and I am from Dallas by the way :-)
By the way, the lady singing the song is Cindy Mizelle. Never quite got the recognition and props she desrves. As you can hear she has the voice of an angel. Defitinitely under-rated talent. Also, its amazing how popular this song is and how strongly associated it is in the Dallas/Ft.Woth area
Man!!! I had forgot all bout this song, I remember getting on the school bus early in the morning daydreaming about my CRUSH when this song would come on the radio!!!! This song brings back memories!!!
Maaaan, I'm a 86 baby but I love some Ol' School music for real!! I been lookin for this song forever!! I hear it on 94.5 down here in TX, but could NEVER find it to download!! This chick was jammin!!
It is so hard to find this song,to download. When I type the name of the song Gordan Lightfoot always pops up.I knew Rudy V plays this song quite a bit on 94.5fm
This was THE slow jam of the 80's....D.J. Ushy jammed this every Saturday night on K-104 FM here in Dallas, and it meant it was time to get your girl on the dance floor.....RIP USHY. Great post.
@Eromance1 He also played this at Pizzaz back in the day I worked there and there was no other spot HOTTER...Polk & Camp Wisdom parking lot Aquarius and Pizzaz....Brings back memories ...White Mike out , CC Class of `86
I just heard this song on the radio and never knew who it was. It's one of those that just makes you daydream. I figured I would try to find out who it is and guess what, I am in G.P./Arlington. I am only 36 and when I first started driving and riding around with friends I would hear men and women playing this outside of The Executive Club and R.J's by the Lake in Dallas. Long live the Quiet Storm. This song is still sexy. Makes me want to grab the closest woman and hold her tight.
@ascales30, Wow!!! The Executive Club and JR's by the Lake?? You really went back...lol Both are gone now but the Executive was the first club I ever went to back around 1998. I was all of 35 and had never been to a club until then. Back then I was a big listener of KKDA, Soul 73 with Willis Johnson
OMG! I have been singin this song for years and never could find it. Im so glad you posted this..I was starting think I imagined the song..lol..Thank you songbird
This is my song, I so miss the days of twilight and shamrock. Yes, Dallas did make this thier own. Shouts out to all my fam bk In dallas, sendin you a bunch of love all the way from FLORIDA!!!!
@dasongbirdt dam yall bringing back them memories Endzone and second stage in the cliffs rollin at bachman lake on sundays and kiest park ridin on them centerlines chrome rowbar in them z 28s those where the days......
@taytaydallasstar it's funny you mention z28's, I remember my aunt used to jam this song when she was dating a guy who was in the Z club. The Zclub used to meet up on Sunday's at what used to be the Kmart on Ledbetter.....man, the memories!!!
I first heard this on K104 when Ushea "i think thats how he spelled his name" would jam this. Dallas really did rep this!! Great jam! Long live the 80's.
I don't even think people making "R&B tobay can think of anything this rich!!! Been lookin' for this for many years, but does anyone know where I can download it so I can bump it in the car?
You are a God-send for posting this song, I've searched MANY years for it. I was very young when this song was out, but I always loved it, and never forgot it. THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL SONG!!!
YOU TOO! People thought I didnt know what I talkin about! LOL! Especially down here in the dirty south! FL. But , Im a dallas girl so I knew it would pop up eventually.
Wow, it's very obvious that this song gets some awesome play in the Dallas/Ft.Worth metroplex. It's well represented from the comments of all the DFW citizens. Much love all...........
This is definitely a hard song to find. Thank you, dasongbirdt, for posting this. This is a beautiful song, back when artist could truly sing and perform (unlike today). This song gets good air play here in Dallas on 94.5 on Michael Baiseden Show.
MAN... I been looking for this song for over 6yes...Nobody knew what i was talking about... I feel better knowing theres other such as myself who enjoy this song.....
WOW! Thanks sooo much for posting! I'm only 27 but when my uncle playde this for me, this is what singing is about. I love singing its my life and this song makes my heart melt. LOVE IT!
I have been trying to find this song for some time since Rudy V plays it on KSoul I love it and I always love to hear right before I lay down... Dallas is putting this song back on the map where it should be. THANKS FOR POSTING THE SONG!!!
This is one of my favorite slow jams of all time, takes me back. Im also in DFW and hear it on the radio from time to time and wondered why is it so hard to find on CD.
This jam and TO LONELY TO BE ALONE by KWICK FROM '83-'84 have to had been the hardest slow jamz to locate in the last 25 years. Now granted Rudy V. did give this jam a rebirth. But my DALLAS neighbors should know this got much airplay on K104 quiet storm back in the 80's and early 90's as well as KNOK 107.5 and I''m a 1972 baby holdin it down in FUNKYTOWN.
I can not believe I can not find this song....??? Is this some kind of joke, this song brings back so many memories please let me know if anyone finds it!
I've been looking for this song for over 2 years and I called into Rudy V tonite and he played it. I then get on line and find it on You Tube... I guess I was looking too hard.
like everybody else I have been trying to find the artist for this song. I am from Dallas and nobody outside of Dallas had every heard of this song. Thanks for the posting.
The only thing I can tell you is to embed the video to your page. I think the song itself has to be on Myspace for you to add it. They are getting very ticky about copyrights, etc. on Myspace.
This is not a remake, this is the original version recorded in 1983, check your BMI records. There are several songs with the same title but none of them are the same version as this song. Even if there was, we only care about this version anyway.
Of all the spots and clubs, i'm surprised nobody mentioned Studio 67 or the Executive Club in Oak Cliff........Great times in Big D

This song had been stuck in my head for months, I could remember the lyrics but not the artist (probably because I was so young when this song was popular). Its such a feel good song, brings back so many positive childhood memories. Now that I am older and have experienced a few things, the lyrics ring true. I absolutely love this song. Oh and I am from Dallas by the way :-)
stayflow1110 1 year ago
By the way, the lady singing the song is Cindy Mizelle. Never quite got the recognition and props she desrves. As you can hear she has the voice of an angel. Defitinitely under-rated talent. Also, its amazing how popular this song is and how strongly associated it is in the Dallas/Ft.Woth area

Makes me want to grab the closest woman and hold her tight.
ascales30 2 years ago
@ascales30, Wow!!! The Executive Club and JR's by the Lake?? You really went back...lol Both are gone now but the Executive was the first club I ever went to back around 1998. I was all of 35 and had never been to a club until then. Back then I was a big listener of KKDA, Soul 73 with Willis Johnson

This is one of my favorite slow jams of all time, takes me back. Im also in DFW and hear it on the radio from time to time and wondered why is it so hard to find on CD.
boogiet 2 years ago
I now live in D/FW and I love this song. I will add it to my list of jams thanks Rudy.
saniyya1 2 years ago
This jam and TO LONELY TO BE ALONE by KWICK FROM '83-'84 have to had been the hardest slow jamz to locate in the last 25 years. Now granted Rudy V. did give this jam a rebirth. But my DALLAS neighbors should know this got much airplay on K104 quiet storm back in the 80's and early 90's as well as KNOK 107.5 and I''m a 1972 baby holdin it down in FUNKYTOWN.

DaSongbirdt, do you know how I can add this to my myspace playlist? Thanks
lrw0004 3 years ago
The only thing I can tell you is to embed the video to your page. I think the song itself has to be on Myspace for you to add it. They are getting very ticky about copyrights, etc. on Myspace.
dasongbirdt 3 years ago
who sang the original this is a remake
damus2000 3 years ago
This is not a remake, this is the original version recorded in 1983, check your BMI records. There are several songs with the same title but none of them are the same version as this song. Even if there was, we only care about this version anyway.
