  • Hey Scooby! You are awesome! :)

  • Scooby is isolating front delts important because dont they get hit alot with doing bench press and shoulder press?

  • His dam voice.

  • why are these done with a hammer grip? When I do them with palms facing down all I feel is my shoulders working, not my chest or arms.

  • Comment removed

  • I cant keep my shoulders back and down while lifting the arm......its easy to put them in the correct position, but impossible for me to keep them there.

  • I am doing these now on my chest day, seems to be working well so far.

  • Tony Robbins, is that you?

  • scooby dooby doo, we love you, getting us those rock hard muscles

  • what a coincidence i do chest and shoulders on the same day. time to add this to the routine :)

  • @AbsoluteZ3R0 I guess you don't know the frontal deltoid is actually called the anterior deltoid.

  • scoob's point is, sure it works the front delt a little, but it sure works the upper chest more. So why call it a shoulder exercise? I've actually incorporated this exercise into my chest routine and have seen some drastic upper chest improvement. Jeez peeps? Stop hating and just listen. You might learn something.

  • I guess Scooby doesn't know that the frontal deltoid is a part of the shoulder

  • ilove this guy!!!! srsly i didnt get this much tips from my paid trainer, plzzz post more vid thanxxxxx !

  • Get to tha choppaaahhh !

  • Delts are composid by 3 parts: front, acromial and rear . This exercise surely engages the ventral part of the muscle.

  • The only man Chuck Norris can't take on.

  • keep pressing 2, lol

    great video as always scooby!

  • it also works abs

  • My GOODNESS at 2:20 when he brings his shoulders up. You GO Scooby! Coolest dude ever

  • I swear ive seen this guy on pornhub?

  • He's right. stop hating and listen to the man. He's fifty. As i am. And is living with the body of a teen!! What could be better?

  • Wait, doesn't it isolate your front delt if you go all the way up not straight front? That's how front raises work your front delts.

  • hey i have a queastion my left arm/shoulder cannot keep up with my right one what do i do its that my left arm gives out faster than my right one and its very concerning me i am 15 and concerning masturbation i have started to use my left hand for the past 2 months and i have not seen any results in my left arm,

  • man you're in excellent shape but why haven't you developed your traps? My chest is like half the size of yours but my neck is easily thicker.

  • @Matty0850 cos then you look like a dickhead whos out of proportion and obsessed with the gym? =P

  • @kingshott1 If you work the body the way its meant to be worked, you'll develop everything proportionately.

  • @Matty0850 exactly. he works everything how it should be worked and is in proportion. if his traps were any bigger hed look out of proportion

  • @Matty0850 No one likes those guys who are average-sized, but their traps are huge. Many lifters know that big traps can make you look way bigger when you're wearing a shirt, so they take it to an extreme and focus on them. I visibly smirk when I see them at the gym wearing a tank top showing off their "sweet traps and biceps," then they step into a rack and squat 135 or OH press 65.

  • These are isolation exercises. I usually stick to compound exercises and do a few isolations in the end of my workout...

  • do it and see what gets hard..... hehe scooby :)

  • @PabloVlogChannel agreed

  • Hey Scooby, i've seen many of your videos. Now, a problem i've had all my life, (even when i was fit and i used to lift weights) was the fat that builds up on your chest, specifically the nipple area, is there and exercise that helps reduce the fat around that specific area? if so can we have a video about it?

Thanks and keep up the great videos.

  • @jomatw91 one thing that he always says in his videos is there is no such thing as spot fat removal thats why he is so critical about any mechanical device that scamer's sell on tv or on the internet as well as the scamers selling products that calim 'take two tablest on so and so days and watch the fat melt away!" all he will tell you is to boost your cardio and have a steady and watchful diet...i had the same question about my abs on another video but he had already answered someone else

  • @jomatw91 cardio and less food my friend ;)

  • @jomatw91

as an internet nobody with all the medical qualifications that everyone here has, sounds to me like you have too much oestrogen and so you will tend to store fat on your chest. have a look around for answers, or see a doctor if nothing else. there is no specific excercise that will get rid of that, but as someone said to you before, you need to watch your diet alot more. in my 'expert' opinion ;)

  • @jomatw91 Same problem, my friend. All I can do is lose as much fat as possible and hope that it goes away by my mid-twenties. It really is something shitty to live with. If you're still a teenager, it may just be part of puberty, which is pretty common...

  • @jomatw91 What you're asking for is 'spot reduction' (losing fat around a specific area). This is impossible. Your body burns fat from all over itself. You cannot control where the fat will burn from. If you exercise more and eat better, eventually your chest fat will go away, as well as other fat on your body.

  • @jomatw91 you cant choose where you lose fat.

  • @jomatw91

If you aren't like extremely fat and you still have fat on your chest, it may be due to having too much estrogen. It could come from eating the wrong foods. Particularly too much processed foods.

  • @jomatw91 in scoobys other videos he explains why "spot" fat removal is not possible. you will need to lose fat in general by doing things like cardio and adhering to a strict nutrition program.

  • @jomatw91 there are no spesific spot fat removing exercises. You can only do cardio to lower your body fat, and the fat will come off where it wants :) - ScoobyFan

  • his teeth look muscular

  • scooby why keep arms straight? please explain

  • @BC2Recon because if you bend your arms, the weight will be easier.

  • @MrAssassinful wow really? i never knew that, thanks

  • Hi scooby. I am looking for an exercise that works the " hard to get area" on the outside of the chest. I am a female and I am looking to get a well rounded chest area. I am not big on top. They are more like oranges... What exercise can I incorperate into my routine to get definition for the outer pecs? Thanks in advance and I enjoy your sense of humor. You always make me smile and laugh. I appreciate you for that!!

  • @anaya2121 You gave me a boner

  • this exercise works anterior deltoid and a tiny bit of pec minor, but not much. This does not work posterior deltoid or the arm (which you were pointing to the bicep) Nothing in the arm is worked unless there is a bending motion. You should take the time to learn origin's and insertions, and also lines of pull which are important in forming exercises. Opposing muscles will contract to withstand the force on the lever, but doesn't mean the muscle is being taxed.

  • this works the front of the shoulder scooby your a dickhead mate

  • this does the front part of the shoulder!!!!

    YOU ARE COMPLETELY WRONG!

  • look at 0:37 and stop the video. u look so gay xD

  • @MIOGI123 he doesnt do it for free, hes making alot if money doing these videos. Not hating, he deserves it.

  • y is it that important 2 do the exercise with the "tumbs up"-Position of your arms¿ pls explain.

  • Glenohumeral flexion is accomplished by the the biceps brachii, the anterior deltoid, the clavicular head of the pectoralis major mainly. The serratus anterior as well as the lower and middle trapezius help to fix the scapula against the posterior thoracic wall. If you decide to flex the GH joint to the point where your humerus is above being parallel to the ground, the upper trapezius would get involved more. What you are feeling in the back of your shoulder is most likely the supraspinatus

  • 10 years ago I injured my rotator cuff and its always kept me from building up my deltoids.

Are there any good workout's that I can do that wont put a lot of stress on my rotator cuff or is that just an area where I can no longer work out?

I love our video's and thanks for all you do!

  • Scooby, Thank you so much for all of your hard work and the fact you do all this for free is really cool

  • the muscle you call "arms" in this video is deltoid anterior, front part of shoulder. Shoulder is divided in three, anterior, lateral and posterior. This exercise focuses most on anterior and lateral. Not posterior which you mention. Serratus anterior is also involved. Aswell as trapezius middle/lower...

  • Hey Scooby, I was just wondering... I couldn't find troughout your videos anything about definition and you look pretty defined as well as bulked up. I was wondering if it's just by the methods of exercise that you are showing or are you doing also some 'hidden' exercises not shown in any video? Thanks in advance, and keep it up!

  • Wow is it me or your arms got bigger in the past few months? You look more proportional then before.

  • T-nation had an article which brought this up too, that it may be the shoulder rotation that is more important than which plane the shoulder is moving toward, that influences which head is dominating the movement. So an internally rotated front raise could actually work more side delt than an externally rotated side raise.

  • I'm going to put it out there: your pecs are ideally proportioned.

  • anyone hear the airplane sound?? thumbs up for heard it

  • I AM SO GLAD I FOUND YOUR CHANNEL AND SUBBED IT YEARS AGO

  • wat do u mean by not locked i kno in bench press thats when u staighten out yur arms when u go up but wat do u mean by straight but not locked

  • great shape .... with bitch tits

  • @r0c2 lol you clearly don't know what a big chest looks like

  • @SkillerJ0el agree with ya but still ....nice bitch tits low, hard & well developed !!!

  • your anterior deltoid connects to the upper part of the chest....so front raises are for the anterior deltoids, posterior too if your form or posture is correct as you instructed, and for your bicep tendons and forearms a little bit. i definitely think frontal raises are a good shoulder exercise.

  • I love you scooby!

  • 0:15 this looks so cool <3

  • scooby when a friend of yours invites you to a party what do you eat there? are all your friends as much into fitness as you so that they know what kind of "non-artificial flavor goods" they make. Or, are you able to sit back sometimes. do you allow that to happen? do you ever drink beer? and how strict do i really need to be to get fat percent under 5. i heard Mike Tyson had a quite low fat percentage when he was competing and i am sure he did not live very strict life? what do you say?

  • i definitely dont feel front raises in my chest, rear delt, or "muscle that goes from your shoulder to your arm" haha. if anything i feel it in my front delt (like its supposed to work) and alot in my core if i do both arms at the same time

  • Cool

  • do shoulders, chest and triceps one day. then front raises should not effect your program

  • @ scooby1961

first of all i would like to thank you for such a beautiful training program. i need your help on how to get a permanent shaved body like you:) i have trimmed my body hair couple times but they grow up fiercely so i stopped doing that :(

  • this is totally a great front delt exercise, i can feel my fascia stretching after 2 sets with this exercise, its a great exercise for shoulders, especially after a compound movement such as a press. you dont work the rear delt with this. chest work is minimal, youre just working the front delt near the insertion so it feels like your clavicular head. do on shoulder day.

  • Can you please put a t-shirt on, my mom thinks i'm gay

  • Hey scooby, i have a question, not related to the video but anyway here it is,,What should i eat before goind to bed?, i've heard alot about taking a scoop of Casein protein cause its a slow digested protein and provide proteins to your body all night long but its pretty expensif supplement and it doesn't last long so i was wondering if this product really necessary? Would it be the same if i ate like 1/2 cup of Cottage cheese instead?,,or any other food that would provide slow digested protein?

  • talking about abs once more, despite the really short range of motion of crunches they do work. But you must do some other ab exercises as well!!! last week in the gym I bursted into laughter when a friend of mine saw me doing crunches. to be honest, crunches look a bit silly but he had a better metafora. according to him it looks like a 70-year old and 220lbs grandma trying to get up from the sofa only to reach her potatochips bag. and i share that opinion but i know they work!! youre the one!

  • those vains stickin out dont look 2 healthy

  • <3

  • I use both this exercise and the side raise. I don't always do them with my thumbs up - for me it's working great.

  • Could you provide some kinds of evidence for your claims, you in your videos?

Just because you have a lot of muscles doesn't mean that you know what you're talking about.

  • @MageAtYou it's called his website

  • @TheFlipTease Are you seriously stupid?

  • @MageAtYou i was wondering the same about you: "just because you have a lot of muscles doesn't mean you know what you're talking about" lol thanks for letting everyone know. Go patronize someone who really IS trying to scam you

  • @TheFlipTease You obviously don't know about sourcing. I don't think he's scamming anyone, but I want to be sure instructors know what they are talking about.

  • @MageAtYou relax! I'm not half as serious about this conversation as you are. I'm just making fun cuz of the uppity way you come across. have a good day now ya hear?

  • @TheFlipTease big muscle too often mean .... good pills or needles = bitch tits look closely to your scooby

  • @r0c2 they're pretty big pecs, but I don't think they're on the level of bitch tits. And that's why I said "it's called his website." All his statements, source material, and advice is on there. I think his site is pretty legit, 'specially since he doesn't make money on it. So just check it out already cuz this argument is pointless.

  • I really only feel my front delts with this one, also sometimes I grab something and lean my body to the side I'm doing at the time and it recks my shoulders

  • I read on your very informative website that you started lifting weights when you were 21 and that your body had reached it's genetic potential around 240 lbs. Just out of curiosity, how much did you weigh when you first began? You made an impressive transition so maybe one day I'll be much closer to those results.

  • Guys, I would like to see you maintain a physique like his. Bodyfat fluctuates as keeping it extremely low is unhealthy and cannot be sustained. You can still be 6% bodyfat or 8% bodyfat, but being a 3% or what not is not healthy.

  • why are your nipples pointing out?

  • Comment removed

  • Your physique chest is really awesome. I keep having to remind myself you are older than my dad.

  • scooby do a deadlift video

  • scooby dooby doo smelly poo juice thigh

  • I don't feel my rear delts at all doing this ...

  • Looks like Scooby is getting a little fat now that summer is coming to an end.

He looked very good during the summer when he had more definetion.

  • hello can you explain what's the cardio exercise looks like please.

  • I wonder what he looks like with out the hat. :)

  • hey scoob, i have a question not related to this workout.... i wonder what does THC do to your muscles and how it affects ur muscles... i just hope ur not one of those "weed is bad for you" guys.... my friend goes to a gym on a daily basis and smokes po daily too, and he IS getting bigger without the usage of steroids and such...

  • Good info!

  • VOICE

  • Scooby i see guys adding a twisting motion (think turning your hand over) while the dumbbell is at its max height going up does this add anything?

  • @scottiethebody0 Ive seen that too I was wondering the same thing

  • Scooby, I just started going to the weight room in high school and I always start laughing when I see sophomores and juniors doing crazy jigs with the same weight as I'm using.(im a freshman). Thanks a ton; I discovered you in 8th grade and you really helped!!!

  • scooby, could i do these front raises with a barbell instead of dumbells??

  • Scoobs, how can a weakiing get good at pressups ? they slaughter me in my circuits, really hard work

    ty ty

  • oh man scooby u looked bigger after month!

  • when I do these it nails my front deltoids. again, palm down instead of sideways (you do the same thing for lateral raises). focus on pulling the weight up with your shoulders. I also go really high - to the top of my head - and hold it for a moment, focusing on using the deltoid to hold the arm in position. I've never noticed my pecs feeling any involvement... of course your arms will be involved as they are in every upper body excersize.

  • how tall are you scooby?? p.s. great workouts

  • @DrumAndG He's 6ft 3.

  • @Toedoog

I think hes more like 6'1.5

  • @DrumAndG he is 6 ft 3 -6 ft 4 i belive.

  • @DrumAndG He said he is like 6''3 or something before i think...

  • @DrumAndG he said he's 6'3 once

  • @DrumAndG He is 6' 3" (1.90M)

  • @DrumAndG

    Just under 7 foot

  • Hey Scooby Wednesday during my Biceps workout I did 3 sets of Forced Negatives. Now my arm was fine yesterday, but today where my arm pivots in front of my bicep hurts like hell lol I can't extend my arm fully, or move my arm toward me =)

    Is this normal xD

  • @DINOSHREDDER yes its normal lol, everytime i do an intense bicep training, the place where my arm bends in front of the my bicep hurts like hell, dnt wrry lol.

  • Doing front raises healed my horrific shoulders did lots of reps and sets

  • I want to see you cosplay as Kratos from God of War.

  • What!? no bad form in this video

  • Hey Scooby ! i always thought this exersise works also the traps

  • @power8298 if you do every set to faliure you cant perfom a certain number of reps. I did this for 2 years but now i find it better to perform the first set to a certain number of reps i will do ( not to failure , maybe up to 2 reps before failure) and then the other 2 sets until failure. That works good

  • @MrCherryKirsche

That works for me as well. My first set is always a pre-determined warmup set of usually 10-12 just to loosen up after stretching. After that I have a general target range based on my current goal. Living in MI, I usually switch about this time of year & train for sheer power and size, but I am still doing a 6-10 rep range since I may be moving West Coast later this year and can wear tanks & Ts in December.

Hitting target reps isn't always pushing your limits for growth.

  • You are looking better and better Scooby.

You are turning into a Greek God.

  • Hi scooby, could you comment on usage of lifting belts? How useful, if useful at all, they are; how safe or dangerous, this kind of thing??

  • dude youre HUGE lol.. my inspiration tryin to get back into the habit of things again

  • Wow...tipping 33, 000 views within 2 days of this post? That's impressive.

  • Your a fucking moron.

  • its "you're"

  • @GuitaristJesse2442 it's "you're" and no, he really isn't..

  • @2amjive Well clearly he is, coz dumbbell front raises clearly work the shoulders.

  • What happened to that one Awesome comment that pointed out that scooby contradicted what he said big time in a workout video from april.. it had over 100 thumbs up! scooby did u delete it?!

  • what kind of shirt do you wear i never see you with anything more that short

  • I love you

  • Man I'd love to see how people react when they see you just walkn the streets, like whoa, look at that big mofo! haha

  • Scooby, thanks for the help, dude, you truly rock!

  • Hey Scooby,

When I do exercises, I use perfect slow form with proper weight and my left arm is NEVER sore. It's only my right arm, why?????

  • EARWORM: ONE ONE THOUSAND ... TWO ONE THOUSAND UP! ONEONETHOUSAND - TWOONETHOUSAND DOWN!

  • My opinion is that the best version of this starts with palms facing inward, elbows back a bit, DBs straight down parallel with your thighs. As soon as your DBs clear your thighs on the way up you start turning your thumbs inward in a controlled fashion where they are horizontal at the top with thumbs pointing at each other.

This way you get full range of motion on the bottom and you take the workload away from the bicep before it gets hit on the way up. It is absolutely a shoulder exercise.

  • Scooby, you are a genius. You are good personality and great teacher too.

  • thumbs up if you think Scooby is testing (trolling) us with this 'front raises are bad' shit. just look up front raises on bodybuilding..com, it's an isolation exercise for shoulders.

  • @oanradukvids aaand isolation exercises are terrible for building muscle, compound movements are the way to go

  • Comment removed

  • Go to a fucking gym. Stop fooling around your house with dumbbells, chairs and other cadgets. Unless you have a power rack, barbells, weights and real adjustable heavy dumbbells, your place is in the friggin' gym - not at home doing push-ups and watching goofy acting shirtless guy giving you 'muscle building' tips.

  • Comment removed

  • one one thousand, two one thousand up!! ... LOL

  • SCOOBY I HAVE A QUESTION. . How long should one rest between sets of a workout? I've heard 3 minutes for larger muscles and a minute and a half for small muscles, or until your breath returns to normal... This was a few years back like 6 or so so what is it now in 2o11?

  • @blackiris069 anytime timing would be great but not until ur heart rate drops back to normal...before u starts ur exercise u warm up right, ur heart rate suppose to be around 120-130 bpm...keep within that range would be great... :) jus helping :D

  • @blackiris069 Long rest periods usually help when you're trying to gain more strength than mass. More time to recover your energy so that you can lift a heavier weight at a higher intensity. Low rest periods are thought to be helpful for endurance training, for obvious reasons. Less weight, extended time under tension. And int he middle would be for mass. Don't quote me on this, and repetitions aren't an exact science:

    3-5 strength

    1-3 bodybuilding

    1>endurance

Do what works for your body.

  • Comment removed

  • <1*

  • I've modified the movement of a front raise over much trial and error and i found out that for the anterior"" branch of your shoulder a cable exercise* works best, that might be the most prominent part of my shoulder and the movement is more of a pull across if you will. as a matter of fact today is shoulder day :)

  • Wow, so much hate. I wasn't even trying to sound up my own arse, I could if I wanted. I was just trying to offer some useful advice instead of 99% of the useless comments you get on youtube, my bad. On point though, at least twice during this video scooby refers to the front delt as "arm" assuming it runs right down the arm. Which is wrong. I wasn't trying to come off as "Hurr I know more than scooby durr" I was simply correcting something I saw, which is what the comments section is for.

  • @OwennnnThePT

The hate towards you is silly. Technically you were correct and Scooby made a couple of small inaccurate statements. It happens

His test fails because its only testing tension in that exact spot, not the whole range of motion. By that point in the rep I have already begun turning my thumbs inward taking strain off of the bicep. Also just because a muscle is being recruited for assistance doesnt mean its getting a good workout. You wont build a big upper chest with front raises.

  • @OwennnnThePT meh i didn't think you sounded up your own arse. tbh some of the fanboys sounded up their arses as if scooby can never be wrong. it's good to respect someone as you clearly respect scooby but not to love them to the point that you believe that they're omniscient.

  • @OwennnnThePT @TheMahjohng That's what happened to me once when I suggested that there is nothing wrong with doing ass-to-grass squats when Scooby was recommending leg extension flexes. One of the fanboys was so zealous that he attacked me for attempting to justify range of motion. Plenty of lifters have been doing full squats for years. If such workouts are dangerous, their knees should be busted by the time they squat over 300 pounds, and they would be telling us how harmful A-T-G squats are.

  • I think its a good exercise for the front deltoids, which is the part of the shoulder that looks massive along with a big chest. Yes it involves a little bit of pec but every exercise involves a little bit of something else, am I wrong?

  • HAS ANY1 PICK A FIGHT AGAINST U?

  • Comment removed

  • wow this video is pretty stupid. front raises does not 'work' the pecs or back of the shoulder they are just used to stabilise the fucking dumbell. front raises work the anterior deltoid like seriously do u think u can get an arm or chest workout from front raises?

  • Do you have any planned training for arms, chest and abs without dumbbells?...im 15 years old and i dont want to stop growing(im 6ft tall).

    thank u! :D
