Film the whole thing directly from above, as here, for IMAX showings. This being a wonder of nature, that a woman with relatively small hands can do this. The insanity of Prokofievian leaps becomes fully apparent: yes, the man was a fiend. The reviews of Prokofiev's own first performance of this, and we are sort of approaching a centennial of that event, make for fairly decent reading.

Anna has to be one of the best pianist in the world playing with feeling. (((And there are a lot of them that don't ! - She does - She is wonderful !)

I really like Prokofiev. And, to me, Anna Vinnitskaia is gonna be "the next" Martha Argerich.

In fact, that explains why this performance is so amazing :)

The next Martha Argerich? Clearly you've never heard Argerich play before... Surely you jest. Anna V. is a brilliant pianist but she's no Argerich. Argerish's playing was more accurate and expressive at this age. Argerich is also a musician... Anna V. is a performer... Subtle but significant difference... I know it's fashionable to critique M. Arg. but she and pianists like Y. Kisn. are in a league of their own. Anna V. is wonderful... but not one of them... She's different. :-)

Un grand moment que ce final où les cartes s'échangent et se brouillent entre piano et orchestre dans un contexte toujours parfaitement construit par le compositeur. Décidément mon concerto préféré de Prokofiev, ici dans une très belle interprétation. On est au-delà de ce qui se dit par les mots, on est dans la poétique de la musique, dans l'appel vers ce qui ne se dit pas..
