I've tried everything.... but I can't seem to get this working. I've tried 7.10 and 9.10 and still nothing....

I have an 80GB PS3 (old model) and the startup scree is different from yours (mine has penguins at the top) I had this running on my old PS3, but that was 2 years ago and my memory is a little fuzzy, somebody please help me.

the song is from "009 Sound System". But the system is Danish, :). I should have changed it to English, so everybody could understand, but that doesnt matter, as long as you just turn your ps3 "on" with Ubuntu CD in it, it should go automatically into Ubuntu boot system, :).

You can go back to the ps3 system very easy, and change over to ubuntu again, if you want to. but to get back to the ps3 system (the normal ps3 system), then just hold the ps3 on/off button untill, you hear several bips noices from the ps3, when you are about to turn it on. So when you are about to start your ps3 then hold the on/off button and listen for several bips. Sry 4 explaining it twice, :). But you should be able to get back to the normal ps3 state by doing that

it´s Danish! You´re right about, that I should have changed it to English, but I forgot that. Anyways the system doesnt language doens´t matter. Just start your PS3 system up with your Ubuntu CD in it.

I think that version's imcompatible with the PS3. Try googling for Ubuntu 9.10 Power PC -- The PS3 uses the Power PC (PPC) architecture.

Ofcourse. When you want to quit the Ubuntu system, then just turn your PS3 off. And when you start it, then hold the "on/off" button until you hear the second bip, so when you hear the first bip, you have to hold it down to you hear the second one.

I prefer you to install it with the version in the vid, because 9.10 is very new, and I don´t know if it has some built-in problems like, that you can´t type anything.

Sorry for saying it first now, but had some other things to do, while you wrote this. Anyways I prefer the 7.10. I haven´t experienced that kind of problem before on Ubuntu, and I cant find right info about on websites neither.

If you mean the step, where you have to choose the language, then just click on the language and press enter on your keyboard. if that doesnt help, then I will try to find more informations about it to help you.

installing ubuntu 9.10 on ps3----sorry i mean the 5th step(the one where you put in all your info for logging in) it wont let me write anything with my key board or click the forward button(this is because the required fields that need to be filled in are blank), then i tried to copy and past "name " as my name, and password as my password, and that allowed me to click the forward button, so i continued then when it was installing it stayed at "0%".

Det er ligemeget. Du behøver kun at overføre ubuntu linux på en CD, skubbe den ind i din PS3 og tænde for din ps3. Og derefter begynder PS3´en automatisk at starte linux-systemet op.

Jeg mener, at du først skal tænde din PS3, sætte cdén med ubuntu linux 7.10 ind, slukke din ps3 og starte din ps3 igen, og derefter starter den ubuntu systemet op.

Og hvis du vil ud af ubuntu systemet, så skal du slukke din ps3 og tænde den igen. og mens du tænder den skal din finger være på on/off knappen, indtil du hører 2 bips. Også må du tage cd´en ud.

What happens, when you turn on your PS3? Try to turn on your PS3 by holding the "on" button and wait untill you hear two bips. That´s how I get into normal PS3 system from the other black screen with notes of Ubuntu startup.

I haven´t tried it, but search tutorials on the web for it. I prefer burning the Ubuntu Linux like my version or any other Linux version, and burn it onto CD-ROM. You can see my version of the Ubuntu Linux on the vid.
