  • I grew up about 3 miles from where Ronnie did (and I still live here), and Ive heard first-hand storys.. Trust me, you may wana be careful with that whole "I wish I could have met you" thing. lol

  • RVZ was indeed ONE of the all time greatest in the business. R.I.P. Ronnie Van Zant. You might be gone physically, but Spiritually you are still amongst us.

  • I Love Lynyrd Skynyrd, All Time Greatest Southern Rock'n Boogie Band in the History of the Universe! Long Live RVZ Lynyrd Skynyrd & Crew!!! I Love "Made in the Shade!!!

  • there aren't a lot of videos out there without any dislikes

  • Thank you for sharing this interview. It has been 45 years since I heard Ronnie's voice...oh, not his music....I've heard his singing...but, talking and laughing...I was 15 the last night we talked...he was 18...funny...45 years later, his voice has the same effect. Thank you again.

  • @GBeret83 can you post them id love to see the pics of the old great band in there prime

  • yea thank you I miss ronnie still to this day

  • Rest in peace, Ronnie. You have no idea how much joy and happiness your music has brought me.

  • to bad every thing too day is crapp no soul no heart

  • Man of few words... I think alot of entertainers (these days) could take a few lessons from RVZ. Always stayed true to himself. Common, like the dude you grew up with down the street...

  • A true simple man R. I.P. Ronnie you will always be the best

  • Oh why do they have to put my fav song with this interview? Crying. I saw them in '76, it really hits home.

  • Saw them in Nashville, Tn. in April, 1977, shortly before the crash. I still have pictures my older brother took of the show. I wouldn't take a "Kings Ransom" for them!!!

  • Is there any way you might be able to post these pictures?

  • southern rock just is not the same without ronnie.i wonder if he knew just how good he was are how much he was loved?

  • Truer words have never been spoken about song writing. I know theres some fellow song writers out there and maybe you'll agree when I say that if ya sit down and think I gotta write a song, it wont come but if you got the right atmosphear and you just happen to be pickin, seems like thats when the best songs come out. At least with me.Also, while Jamming with yer band someone comes up with a riff, everyone joins in singer starts off the top his head thats how magic happens!

  • ya know whats werid. If u listen to ricky medlocke talk about writing simple man. He says ronnie came up with it in the hell house not the shower?

  • Well, it was written a really long time ago. People's memories get fuzzy.

  • Absolutly one of the best song writers I agree. There r sooo many songs that would have went # 1 Like Truck Drivin man.Its a shame that the record companys said it wouldnt at the time. What a terible lost....

  • RONNIE IS THE BADDEST MFER EVER

  • his grandma use to live beside me here in green cove springs florida thats where they use to play here in a shake called the hell hole my bfother lives on the property now its 150 acres just north of geen cove on peters creek i went out their a lot when i was younger the shack is burnt down now by the property owners son at the time

  • i just started checking out ronnie, he is such a nice and real guy !

  • Read Gene Odum's book "Remembering the Freebirds of Rock and Roll" and see how he describes Ronnie as the nicest person you'd ever want to meet until he got booze in him, then he was "The Beast." Gene was Ronnie's friend since boyhood and pretty much told it as he saw it. Ed King backs this up in interviews he's done. That's why he left the band in 1975 - Ronnie's drunkedness. Too bad - in this, and most interviews, he does sound like the nicest guy you'd ever want to meet.

  • What a bright articulate man. Terrible tragedy. Listening to this, sounds like they would have come up with some more classic songs. Saw them first time round in'76 and 77. Best live band I ever saw. Old Skynyrd way better than new one

  • Pretty informative there when Ronnie said he came up with Simple Man in the shower! Skynrd had the knack of taking a song, adding their touch to it and wham, it turned to gold. T for Texas as an example, I beleive that song would have done real well had he hadn't had the Terrible Crash in '77 Thanks for the interview.

  • Thanks very much. I had not heard the full interview. My favorite singer/songwriter.

  • Ronnie's Spirit will live on forever!

  • ronnie is so legit

  • Still Magic!!
