They sold the license to america to make a mauser, but they changed a bit on it

one thing people dont tend to notice is that this rifle was not based on the mauser 98, it was based on a combination of a mauser model 1893 action, with features of the norwegian krag jorgensen rifle then in use at the time.

I wouldn't say better than the k98 i have allready fired it and you must also say it has a great manstoping power and is dam accurat.lol

The german arms were much better compared to allied infantry weapons.

@jobenenen i might not be a german weapons expert but both the springfield and k98 have their good side and a bad as well. the springfield can only shoot about 10 rounds a minute while the k98 can shoot 15. the springfield has slightly more velocity than the k98. still their both good rifles, all can agree.
