DAMN. Funny to think this would be city of LA most likely, if they ever got Automizers. You say they've switched to XP2000s?? What's with that, whats wrong with these trucks?
That dude knows how to haul some ass, kudos to him for putting on such a show.
Does a perfect job keeping almost all those 35's standing, something I know is hard to do.
If I remember right this is the division that's owned by Waste Connections...
Amazing post and this is the first thing I've faved in at least a month!!
How much ftg of that RR do you have? I've only seen about 4 of those in action from NorCal days of servicing the city and I'm pretty sure none were as fast as that one. It kept moving pretty good and quick too.
@WasteManTony The Experts are going to MTD, all of which are CNG. GCS has been having at least 3 Experts (70X) themselves at the same time as their older Automizers for use on one way streets. I've got a bird's eye clip of tenth street left being serviced by Expert 701.
@WasteManTony I sure hope not,but it seems that way. The new ACX is upon closer investigation a Mission Trail truck, but the other one is definitely a Garden City Sanittation truck. I'm almost certain that Garden City and Mission Trail are the same company,as well as Amador Valley Industries in Livermore. On the LaBrie website there is a Condor/Automizer with the same paint scheme. I wonder if it's one big company or several companies owned by the same people.
That truck looks like its launched many a cart into the hopper. Cool truck, and I loved that NorCal Rapid Rail in the beginning. I didn't know they had any RR's on Autocars.
@RecologySMCKid It looks like an Autocar but it's technically still Volvo spec. This was the time when Volvo sold the rights to Autocar and so Autocar had to fulfill their commitments to customers by making the first frames look as Volvo as possible. Even Norcal Waste SF had about a half of their later first Labries back in 2002 delivered with Autocars when they were supposed to be Volvo.
WTF how did i miss this vid? well anyways great work very fast love seeing all them 30gl carts getting dumped never seen a Labrie Automizer dumping 30s in person :( awesome work dude
I have yet to come across a Garden driver that doesn't rev the hell out of their trucks! By my area, they use the larger Automizers with the full bubble tailgates and tag axles, and I rarely see one of these smaller ones unless if they're backing up the main driver. I've also got a second Garden truck in my area as well, and it's an Autocar WXLL Labrie Expert M/ASL, probably came with the order of these Automizers, so their fleet isn't completely 100% ASL, WX, or Automizer. :]
@ACX009 last December there was a sub driver in this truck that didn't finish until like eleven am because he was constantly checking his route and he wasn't revving. I'm always hoping to see one of those tag axles when I'm up here. Oh cool so those are actually in service now? I found two on google maps in a yard of retired Mission Trail trucks, and then there's two GS 2000s sitting there. How do those flat grippers work with those 30s? And also one of the Labries in the yard I found is LE ACX
@WasteManTony The Expert M/ASL I'm talking about was always in service: it looks like an 06 or 07 model that was ordered along with the Automizers. It works in one of the neighborhoods around San Jose State and they needed that truck to collect the left hand side houses on one-way streets like 10th and 11th. There's a comb tipper mounted on left, and it's automated on the right. When the tipper isn't used the truck goes fully auto.
@RecologySMCKid search "mission trail waste systems" on google maps, do street view, and a couple properties to the west of the yard is where the old trucks are.
@ACX009 They have at least 2 Labrie M/ASLs in their yard. They also have at least one Automizer on an ACX,as seen outside Dixon Landing Landfill(or if it isn't called that, that landfill on Dixon Landing Road). The Garden City Labries in the Mission Trail yard make me think maybe Mission Trail and Garden City are the same company. Their color schemes are very similar.
@ACX009 Livermore is serviced by Amador Valley Industries, and their color scheme appears to also be just like Garden City's. Here's the weird part: the Google Maps air photosd of the AVI yard shows a yard full of WM trucks. In StreetView,it shows that weird yard of Recology trucks r6man2 found. I have NO idea what's going on there. I'm sure two of the trucks in the Mission Trail yard were Garden City trucks. I'll post a picture on Flickr.
@RecologySMCKid The SF trucks were delivered through Livermore, I believe the supplier is there. Otherwise, find a way to check the date the pictures were taken. I think AVI is fairly new to the region.
@ACX009 I just realized Alameda County Industries has the same paint scheme and they have the same website design as Mission Trail. I wonder who they're all owned by.
@RecologySMCKid I've noticed the same thing as you before with all the color schemes. Labrie distributor in Livermore accounts for one yard "view" you say you saw there, the city used to be serviced by WM so that counts for another, and Livermore Sanitation (or I guess the name's maybe Amador Valley Ind. now..?) does it currently as far as I know. Since Waste Connections owns Garden City, I'd guess they're the ones who also own MTD, AVI, ACI.
(contd) I think Mission Trails recently got Los Altos city btw, too. According to their site looks like they use ACX / Automizers, not to mention mean-looking drivers. I really want to know if MTD still does Santa Clara trash / greens / bulk like they used to, some way cool trucks were run out that way.
@Trashman242 Mission Trail still does all of the above. Most of the ASL fleet is curently being renewed using CNG Autocar ACX Labrie Automizer or Expert 2000s.
@Trashman242 I don't think its Waste Connections that owns Garden City. If you google the WC address, you get the GT Waste Yard on Oakland Road in San Jose. Garden City is based out of Santa Clara.
@WasteManTony there are 60 gallon plastopans scattered through the city for trash as well. I'd say about 3% plastopan. hard to find but they are there :D
Great Video !! there is a city by me that uses alot of these I dont know if I like them or not and they also have they tiny tailgate like this one ( I dont get why they just dont get a normal tailgate ) but cool truck What picks up the recycling here ? these people are very good at recycling !!
@100Burrtec100 I filmed an Automizer later that day that had the normal tailgate. A CA Waste Solutions Pete/ Autoreach. Well the standard size for garbage here is 30g so they are kinda forced to!
Fantastic footage! I've filmed a revving Automizer as well! Although, your camera's a lot better than the one I filmed with. The single stream trash is a lot more organized than our splits. Glad to see more Automizer!! Again, Great job!
Nice looking Automizer you got there. The truck is pretty fast, but I agree with 3amrepmike3 about the arm not having a very good grip on the carts. It's kinda strange because the Automizer's in my area have a feature where as soon as the cart is 5 feet off of the ground, the fingers on the arm automatically squeeze the cart even tighter to make sure the cart doesn't fall out. Seems a lot of people only have 32 gallon carts. I guess people in that neighborhood don't have much trash.
damn, thats fast. They need to work on the trucks grip though, as its pathetic. I like a nice firm grip on carts so they dont slide around in the grips at all. but hes sure fast with the truck. pretty weird having a cart set down right in front of you intentionally isnt it? seemed like a nice guy. I do like how he takes that extra split second to keep as many cart as possible upright. awesome video of a fast as hell truck. You wont see a natural gas powered truck move this fast thats for sure
@3amrepmike3 half the carts end up sideways in the grippers. My grandparents' 30 actually fell in once, but Garden City replaced it without them even having to call. The first time he did it that was what I was least expecting so I was like what the heck? Then I figured out what he doing. Yes he was very nice. yeah these thirties fall over a lot becasue the streets since a lot of the asphalt is like an inch above the concrete gutter, causing a lot of the cans to fall over.
The Will of Garden City! Dang this guy is super fast. Definitely wastes no time out there on route lol, especially @ 3:15 when he was nailing carts left and right to get to those carts. Phenominal footage Tony! a fave, say did you stick around for that massive 8:54 holy crap that thing is massive! cant wait for the San Jose Greens footage. also great shot of that EX Recology/Norcal truck!
@JaccobDalton thanks! yeah he finishes a frickin 5 hours earlier than CA waste and green waste. Too bad I didn't just film him doing a cul de sac without any cuts, because he just like flying back and forth and then BOOM hes gone. Yes I did film it, but that's all I'm going to tell you for now ;). Yep that was taken exactly 6 years and 364 days before this was!
Fantastic video! Nice to finaly see that NorCal RR! Scott filmed (or had a video of it) up years ago! Really like those edges! That Automizer is WAYYY more than just fast! It has a life! For an Autocar, this is pretty good! You did an amazing job! Seems like most of Norcal is Currently buying Labrie 2000s. Sucks. Again, I can't stress how fantastic of a video this is!
@CurottoCanMaster82 yep. But I own this footage :). Yeah but the 90 gray edges with the 12 inch spoked wheels look ridiculous. Yup. He finishes at around 8.30-9.00 but today due to the extra christmas trash he finished around 9.30
DAMN. Funny to think this would be city of LA most likely, if they ever got Automizers. You say they've switched to XP2000s?? What's with that, whats wrong with these trucks?

@Trashman242 They recently bought a few 2000s, I don't know whether there replacing the Automizers with them or what.
He completely finishes his route by 9!
