Otaku just means geek, in an obsessive way.  Can be an anime otaku(anime geek), idol otaku, robot otaku, game otaku, etc. It's just an insult in Japan. Race is irrelevant, anyone can be called an otaku (geek). You don't want to be called one in Japan though. Weeaboo is just a replacement word for wapanese. Normally they're white kids that are obsessed with anime and try to act Japanese. They always say stuff like kawaii, desu, baka in a high pitched voice.

An Otaku(おたく) is a japanese person who is very involved with manga, anime and or videogame culture. It's pretty much the japanese word for geek (like what we in the west have for sci-fi, I mean the stuff some people know about Star Treck is mindboggeling).

If I understand this right that "weeaboo" means someone overly obsessed with anime or manga, whereas Otaku is an actual japanese person. It's not the same thing.
