Dear friend, if you want to listen to this song again as well as an endless number of love songs I suggest you visit Radio MUSICA PARA MIMOS - look for the URL in Google (search Musica para Mimos). Greatest romantic hits of all times!!!
This is one of the best cover songs of all time. They did a good job on it. I still like Breakout. I never heard it before until I discovered it on Musac channel on the At&T Uverse Cable. which I have. I heard ir around Mid to late March of this year.
A great tribute to Laura Nyro, other then Corinne one of my favorite female vocalists. Why Lord so young to leave us? And why the same fate as her mom? Unbelievable.
Who knew that YouTube could be such a great source of musical education. For those who love this song, as well as smooth jazz in general, listen to WMJX 106.7, Sunday mornings 8:00 - 12:00 AM. Magic 106.7 is a great Boston, MA station. You can listen to their Sunday Morning Jazz program online if you're not in the listening area.
Received your comment, thank you, Corinne also does a remake from Barb Acklin - Am I the same Girl, same year Laura Nyro recorded SSP, 1968, I can remember both at the time, although 11 years young, always loved music (r&b)
Hey, shaitan9, "Shapes and Patterns" the CD which this appears on, was released in 1997. I looked at the liner notes from the disc but wasn't able to find any further information regarding the release date of the song itself at least as far as SOS goes.
Sweet!I just read about this version on Laura Nyros version of this song and here it is! Thanks for this, now I'm going to have to get this CD cos I liked them in high school. What year did Swing Out Sister come out with this? Thanks in advance.

@celestial1933 Laura also wrote many songs for Blood Sweat and Tears.. I had an interesting conversation with David Clayton Thomas about that..

I'd heard that Laura Nyro wrote this after observing and being inspired by Juneteenth picnics.

Better than expected. Although they use the 5th Dimension version as more of a template. It works though.

100% dead wrong. Nyro composed - wrote, scored the song in 1967, released it in 1968.
