  • @originalgrump100 The camera makes the trains look a bit faster than they did in person, but in any case the speed is prototypical. I've paced freight trains, including a loaded coal drag, at 55-60mph along Interstate 5 in SW Washington. Amtrak easily goes that fast too. The Super Chief is, if anything, running a bit slow, as the real train regularly ran over 80. If you have good track & equipment, there's nothing reckless about the speed. They'll run like that all day without derailing.

  • great looking layout. nice.

  • I suppose as long as it doesn't damage the motors.

  • This is a great looking display! I really enjoyed the low angle shots. Great trains too.

  • They are going about 50 scale mph, the passenger trains maybe a bit more. A little fast? Maybe for the freights, but not entirely unreasonable for a double-track main line. Plus, this was a public train show, where the kids like to see the trains move.

  • @westr u r running them closer to 100 mph in scale --no way 50 mph. u would be better of with a racecar set. great layout tho.

  • dont you think theyre going a bit fast?
