  • Best detail ive ever seen

    Good job.

  • wow thanks man keep checking back ill be uploading more in a few weeks :)

  • Hey wow I must admit its very detailed I would love to learn to do this I have a few questions

1.What programme did you use to make this

2.How did you make this (links please)

3.How did you make it a game base texture (links please)

    5/5 thanks

  • Hi Froman1115 thanks for the comment

don't let the detail of this barrel fool you, it has a 2048x2048 texture on it. way to big for today's games... studios try to keep assets like this around 512x512.

I put the 2048 text on it just to show of my texturing skills inside of photoshop.

The program I used was 3dsmax, unwrapped with UVLayout, painted with photoshop then i used MudBox and Crazybump to create the normal map :D

there is loads of tutorials kicking around for all the above : )

  • if we used 2048 textures games would be 30GB =D

  • haha yeah tell me about it, thats what i hate about developing assets, seeing the model in 2048 then reducing it to 512 or 256. roll on the day of larger texture sizes lol

  • Hello hunter1st1st !

First I have to say it's quite a nice result !

I have some questions about it : 1- I did a test with crazy bump, but I had some problems : My uvs are splitted, I made a displacement map in zbrush, loaded the .tif file in crazy bump and I got something odd with tris transparents... So, how does your UV set looks like ?

2 - I work with maya, and when I load a normal map in the bump place, I don't get the high level of detail I was hoping for...

    have a nice day !

  • hi showguynie

perhaps you can post me a link so I can look at your problem a little more.

you know i tend to stay away from displacement maps. they give bad results depending on how wel your lowpoly and high poly models match.

remember not to depend to much on crazy bump. Zbrush, mudbox and photoshop can get you better results in most cases.

about your problem tho, I cant quite work out why your normal map wouldn't be working, maybe a problem with your UV layout?
