Normally, world leaders do not attend Olympic ceremonies, but this was was especially special because a) China is an emerging world power, b) China has very important economic links with many countries, c) the diplomatic relations would be super hurt if the nation didn't at least send a high level delegate, and most world powers sent their heads of state or president, including France, Britain, Russia, Japan, Germany, etc...over 110 Presidents went...

Bush did not waste your taxpayer money for this olympics trip, actually he was invited many many times through many tunnels. He was there just in favor of his own people, you, Americans, sino-us relationship is very improtant. At least, me, a Chinese thanks his attendance. best wish to your country.
