I LIKE BIG CARS ! back in the early 70`s had a merc marauder 1964 , 40 over 390 . it would run mid 12`s back then ! had a 90 mark 7 lincoln a couple of years ago that ran 14.0 . nothi ng missing . ac and all there . not bad for a 5.0 h.o. stock internally . NICE CAR YOU HAVE !
Yep! Though I grew up mostly Fords and a '67 LTD was my first car 3 decades ago I'm not a 'Ford rules, all else suck' type Hotrodder 1st, brand loyal 2nd. Can't beat modern tech, why not the Ford modular engines? I never liked them Too big, too wide too complicated and requires a blower to get 500 honest hp. Why not a 5.0 HO? Old tech already.
That run was a 12.8 or 12.9 (it's been a while)@ 112 on 235x75 street tires. First time at the tract with a very built 460. Eventually going from a 750 to 1050 carb and bigger fuel lines it ran 117+.
I use to race that track and had one of those Fords great car ,great track.

Close, that was almost 13 years ago, early spring '97.
Also notice the guard rail is different then it was back then.

460??
thats an FE car
hacktheplanet90 2 years ago
Yes, a 460. This, my Galaxie never had an FE.
Ever hear of engine swaping?!?! Duh!
LTwon 2 years ago
very true but that car deserves a 427
hacktheplanet90 2 years ago
Why? The 427 HAD it's day in the sun, the 460 is a newer better design and a hell of a lot faster per dollar spent.
The 427's good for nostalgic reasons only, I wanted more power. Tough crap. It "deserves" what ever the hell I feel like putting in it.
Oh maybe a 427 will find it's way in my car....in the form of an LS7, can't beat modern technology!

Those 67s were light but there size throws a lot of unsuspecting gear heads off. We had a 390 4 speed that was fast....

I love "Da Grove" but it wasn't fun to pay the $30 race price and see the guys that got in free run their cars...!
Mccabone 3 years ago
Who gets in free? Maybe we can become one of them! ;-)
