Then he'll tell you to remain in the vehicle etc. When he comes to your window and asks why your not wearing a seatbelt then say I took it off to get out of the vehicle. I've never received a seatbelt ticket in my life. Then you don't have to worry about going to court or whatever

However, not wearing your seatbelt can result in your passengers dying due to your corpse mangling around the car. Thus, not wearing a seatbelt is endangering citizens on your property, and should be fined for.

Why would car insurance go up because of tickets for not wearing your seatbelt? It doesn't put the car in any more danger of damage.... If anything, could your health insurance go up? I'm only 15, if someone could explain I would appreciate it.

the reason they are giving you a ticket is to remind you and they are just trying yo help you not kill yourself for being a dumb ass for not wearing a seat belt. paying a ticket will remind you to wear your seat belt so you dont get yourself killed or injured

One time my mom got pulled over for shit out of the blue and he told us our back tires looked low on air. He peered into the car and than said have a nice day. Being older and knowing the info i do now i probably would have sued or at least complained

And just because you watch or listen to an american show you suddenly know everything about them? @SleepsCousin You are clearly missing the point here. This is about your rights as a citizen in this country. The government shouldn't be able to tell you that you have to wear your seat belt, just like they shouldn't be able to stop you from using drugs. It's your body and you should have complete control over what you do to it. With that being said, I agree that everyone should wear a seat belt because it is the intelligent thing to do.

Why on earth would you not wear a seatbelt? It is hardly a massive inconvenience putting one on.
I have been in a couple of car crashes where the car was a write off and I walked away injury free thanks to the seat belt.

If a seatbelt only protected YOUR life, there wouldn't be a fine. It's our property, if you're not harming others, you're legally fine.
However, not wearing your seatbelt can result in your passengers dying due to your corpse mangling around the car. Thus, not wearing a seatbelt is endangering citizens on your property, and should be fined for.

@Chrisman622 It's a tricky area. It's arguable that for instance that, thrown from the car, you could kill the other driver (sounds crazy, but it's happened).
There's also the issue of conditional legality. Courts pay attention to context in high profile cases a LOT more than small offences. For small stuff, they like just lumping everything into one category. Lack of manpower n' all...
