GI's used to paint the backs of claymores orange so they knew the correct side to approach them. The VC used to find them, disarm them, and paint the other side orange as well, then rearm them. The result would be GI's walking upon claymores they thought were facing away. This all but made claymores useless. Also, discarded bazookas were used similar to the tin can grenade trick. Yet I think pungi's were the most useful. Don't know from experience though.

@manmanguy I've heard before that the VC would also tie claymores in trees where

there was a clearing so when helicopters would land they would be peppered with claymores.

What is amazing is how willing Vietnamese died by the untold millions rotting to this day in the jungles and hinter regions of Indochina. It was amazing to see how willing they would die charging US perimeter lines and die in every conceivable way, it was wonderful killing those evil bastards, it was excellent military work and we did it well, I feel good about it because the communists were so evil towards the Vietnamese themselves. It was great to see ARVN slaughter NVA. ARVN tortured NVA.
