i think the problem's not the stride lenght. Thing is, the fetlock joint snaps back to pointing the hoof down after the hoof leaves the ground real fast but the whole leg itself moves fairly at the same speed in all it's way from take off to landing to swinging back again. this is what makes the walk a perfect 4 beat gait. instead this horse is doing what is called "ambling" usually due to pain or stiffness or if you have a naturally gaited horse that was bred to do it.
@KodaMayLee people are only trying to help! the biggest flaw in today's CGI is the lack of realism in animal's movements. There isn't one single movie i've seen so far were the CGi's animals didn't look like they had serious ligament and muscle injuries! LOL! so if everyone was as keen at listening to cues and tips as the author here is, perhaps we'd have sound cgi's by now ;)
Okay, good job on the animation, really, but don't be offended if I suggest watching some real horses walk around a little more. the stride is a bit long and is a bit jerky, but other than those few things great job.
I love that it's so realistic and the horse movements are really good, but it just seems that the horse is having a hard time walking. But other than that, it's amazing!
just my opinion... i dont think the horse's hinds are far enough under. I know lots of people are trying to pinpoint what looks wrong with an otherwise awesome animation... i think its the hinds trailing that makes it look like its 'drunk'
well no .. i think the pace is too long, its making it look like the horse is stuck in the mud .. Im not saying its bad, its BRILLIANT, ABSOLOUTELY FANTASTIC, but its just these teensy wees=nsy wee thing .. ^^
I have NO clue about this stuff, but, ma yI suggust, when you animate it, don't make the horses legs go back so far. Plus, maybe slow down the front legs a little.
Really nice work. I have to get a horse rig done for one Iv started making (school project). Do you think youd be able to help? Im willing to pay :D Message me

I already posted saying that he has labored movement, but it also looks a bit like he's constipated... no offence to the creator tohugh.

the pressure on the legs make him look either uncomfortable walking or very labored movement.
