Why would posties vote for a reduction in pay (which is what the new payment is)? Clearly it was the mail center staff who voted yes. Fucking cunts, laughing at us. If you have never felt the weight of your postman's sack (steady on!) then you would be very surprised at how much they have to carry over a long distance, the british weather doesnt help, you're either dripping wet with rain or dripping with sweat so its never a pleasant job! First class stamps dont guarantee next day, only special D does now, half the drop boxes dont work cos of vandals so a postie may have to carry two bag loads for a back-breakin amount of time! No wonder they on £10 an hr!
Post arrives at unreasonable times for a number of reasons now, postmen cant leave the depot before 10AM so its prob 10:30 before they even post their first letter, the pouch they carry is filled up 6 times during a walk, it used to be 3, other companies like TNT etc pay royal mail to deliver their mail for them!, business door-to-doors now add so much weight it can add an hour to a walk each day, number of packets bein ordered over internet increases constantly!

whos brain box idea was all this flexability crap, there are 3 managers at my office and they all gone home by 12 midday!
i ve only been there 10 month got stuck on a rural after 2months,680 addresses on the walk if you can call it that, plus the extra from lapsing, they want me to start at 6:15 and do my mech bundels an ips at 6:15(no thats not a typo),then sort my flats and letters.they ask me to work my day off EVERY week!,cut everyones hours and now they got people working on a sunday!

Flexibility was voted in by our union. I have only performed this flexibility once....just make sure you dont come in early and dont use your car and you wont have to do it either (they cant make you work past your time)...99% of the staff at our office (wolves) are too thick to realize that !

At our place the manager has been off that many times with bad back,man flu etc i lost count, and he still gets all his holidays,he plans it nicely to "be sick" just as holidays come up,once he's back to work he re-claims the holidays. Had more time off the Santa Claus! yet a guy off work in a serious road accident is given a stage 1

to whoever said "you shoud've been in the union and they wouldnt sack you" HA I was the Union Rep and they sacked me on the Absensce Procedure for having epilepsy and family trouble after 10 years of loyal service..Royal Mail are run by managers who have been promoted because they cant do the job in which they were originally employed to do..if you show any sign of a brain they get rid of you for fear that the managers jobs are at risk...

Royal Mail treat their staff like shit. You're just a number to them, not a human being! They gave me the boot for having just ONE day too many off sick. After 18 years of service. Really nice people to work for!
